The Murderer

Lunatte’s heartbeat was pounding pretty fast. “Let’s hope it’s true that was the wife number of that lecherous manager. It would be so much fun to see him get scolded!” Lunatte grinned a little.

But something caught her attention. The door is open. Lunatte smiled. She thought that the wife of the manager had arrived and they were having an argument right now in there. The steps are getting faster. She immediately went inside without hesitation. But what happened next really shocked her!

“What’s this? What happened?!” Lunatte stepped back. Her pupils constricted. She was speechless when she saw something terrible in this room. There is blood everywhere. Lunatte continued to back away from the defenseless body of the manager with blood all over his body. Until her foot accidentally stepped on something. Lunatte crouched down to pick it up. It’s a fruit knife.

Lunatte ventured to get closer to the manager’s helplessly lying body.

“Is he dead?” Lunatte crouched down to check for a pulse in his neck. But suddenly, someone came inside.

“AAAAAAAA!!” Lunatte gasped until the knife she was holding fell and was stained with the manager’s blood. She twisted her head. A woman in an expensive suit glared at her and the manager, who was covered in blood. The woman pointed with a look of fear and anger at the same time.

“Y-You! What did you do to my husband?! You killed him?! WHO ARE YOU?!”

Lunatte was very surprised to get the accusation, of course. Looks like this woman is the wife of the manager. Lunatte then shook her head.

“No! You misunderstood. It wasn’t me who killed him. I just came and saw him in this state,” Lunatte explained. She didn’t show any fear at all because Lunatte felt she is innocent here. But the manager’s wife really didn’t believe Lunatte’s words.

“Shut up! You’re a killer! You killed my husband!” shouted the manager’s wife.

“No! I could have sworn I wasn’t the culprit!”

But still, her explanation meant nothing to the manager’s wife.

“I said shut up, shut up! How can you still dodge like that while I saw you holding that knife?! Where is there a killer who wants to admit that she has killed someone?! I will call the hotel worker and the police! You must be responsible for what happened! You took my husband’s life! You murderous woman!”

“What are you saying? I’m telling the truth!” Lunatte stepped closer to the woman to grab her cell phone so as not to call the authorities. But Lunatte was too late. The call is connected.

“Mrs, I’m not lying. It wasn’t me who killed him. You just misunderstood. Listen to my explanation first,” said Lunatte. She tried to stay calm in this chaotic situation.

“Shut up, I said! You will stay here until the police come!” said the manager’s wife. Her eyes also started to tear up. She looked sad because her husband had been killed.

The police finally came. Lunatte tried to explain that she was innocent. But because her fingerprints were on the fruit knife that she had accidentally held earlier. Finally, she was questioned as the perpetrator and taken to be detained.

“NO! I SWEAR I’M NOT THE KILLER! DON’T HOLD ME! MY KIDS WILL BE SAD WHEN THEY KNOW THEIR MOMMY IS DETERMINED AT THE POLICE OFFICE! PLEASE! I’M INNOCENT! DON’T!” But Lunatte’s screams were ignored. She was still taken to the office at the police station to be followed up immediately. While the manager’s wife grinned thinly upon seeing their departure.

“Done.”

RING!!! RING!!! RING!!

Lunatte’s mother wakes up when she hears the telephone ring. The ringing phone woke not only the woman but the quintuplets. They rubbed their eyes and got up in a sitting position.

“With the residence of Miss. Lunatte Estelle?”

“Yes? I’m her mother. Can I help you?” replied the mother.

“Ah, madam. I will only provide information that your daughter is currently being detained at the police office in a murder case. And she has been named a suspect based on the evidence gathered at the scene.”

Instantly, Lunatte’s mother’s body was able to help. The phone also fell from her hand. She shook her head. “No! There’s no way my daughter Lunatte is a murderer! You guys are lying! NO! NO!!!”

“GRANDMA!” Haura Estelle, the fifth child screamed and immediately got off the bed and then calmed her grandma, who continued to cry profusely when she heard the news conveyed by the police. Likewise, with the other twins.

“Grandma, don’t cry! My siblings and I will find evidence and prove to them that Mommy is innocent!” she said. Apparently, they heard her grandmother’s conversation with the police earlier because her voice sounded quite loud. But Grandma didn’t really pay attention to her granddaughter’s words. She cried while hugging the quintuplets.

“Lunatte, my daughter. You must be slandered. I know you can’t do something like that.”

Meanwhile Russel also received news from his assistant that the ex-manager was killed at the hotel and Lunatte was made a suspect. Without further ado, he immediately rushed to the police station. Never mind the important work he was previously doing. Russell drove his car at full speed. He didn’t care that a few times he almost hit another vehicle because he was driving like a madman.

He finally got to go straight inside. He looked for Lunatte, who was sitting while being interrogated by the officer.

“Woman,” he called. Lunatte and the officer who interrogated Lunatte immediately looked at Russel. The officer seemed very surprised to see Russel because he knew Russel is the noble son of the wealthiest family in the state.

“You again,” said Lunatte in a hoarse voice because her strength was completely exhausted because she kept shouting to voice her innocence. For some reason, Russell really didn’t like seeing this woman lethargic like this. He was used to seeing the fierce Lunatte. There was something inside him that was angry at seeing that.

Russell’s fists clenched tightly. He sat beside Lunatte. Faced with the officer. “I want you to release her on parole. Don’t stand this woman. She is an employee in my company. I will be her parole bail.”

“I’m sorry, sir. But we can’t do that. We will still detain Mrs. Estelle because we have named her as a suspect. This knife is the evidence we got at the crime scene. There were Miss Estelle’s fingerprints on the knife and we have a witness who is none other than the wife of the manager himself,” explained the officer.

Russell was angry because of the rejection. “Don’t you know who I am?! How dare you refuse me! And you only got the knife evidence! That’s just one piece of evidence! Not too strong yet! How rashly you immediately set this woman as a suspect! I can’t take it! The main thing is-“

Russel’s words with an angry notation were immediately stopped when Lunatte touched his arm gently.

“I want to talk to you. Just the two of us,” Lunatte said suddenly.

And here they are now. Sit alone at Lunatte’s request. “Sir, I am very grateful that you stood up for me earlier. Even though I’m just a stranger, but you are so kind. I misjudged you earlier. But, you don’t need to do that. I don’t want you to get involved in this matter. This is purely my fault for being too stupid,” said Lunatte. She sincerely said that. She didn’t want this foreign man to get involved in her troubles. But those words made Russell angry. Veins of annoyance appeared on Russel’s forehead. He held Lunatte’s shoulders quite strongly.

“Woman! I’m tired of all the charades you put on! You are just a stranger, you said?! Oh, come on! You are not! Don’t act like we didn’t know before!” he said passionately.

Lunatte didn’t understand. “What do you mean? We never really knew each other before.”

“I told you to end the charade you were doing. You try to tease me and keep following me all the way to my office! Don’t pretend you’ve lost your memory! We had sex four years ago at the hotel! And don’t ask me to stop defending you so you can be free! I will do everything I can to get you off the hook for the murder!” Russel said quickly with one breath.

THUMP!

Lunatte’s body was stoned after hearing Russel’s words. “W-what? S-sex? Four years ago?”

Lunatte stared at Russel’s face for a long time. Every inch of his face he noticed in great detail and she immediately covered her mouth. ‘H-he! His face is really similar to my children’s. No! Impossible!’
