He hadn’t been thinking about Ethan, hadn’t allowed himself to go there. Aria needed him to be strong for her. He couldn’t let her down. But the day had been long and Bart was tired. Still, he wouldn’t complain. She was with him, finally with him and it looked like she meant to stay the night. More than ever, he needed her to stay, even if she spent all night tearing into him, interrogating him about what had happened today. He grinned at her, as the cuffs she’d slapped on him a good hour ago cut off his circulation. Bart felt like he could breathe again.

CC squatted in front of his bed, touching the cuffs.

“Does it hurt?” she asked sadistically.

There was no mercy in her eyes. Bart was glad she was taking this so well. He was ready to be begging to see her all night long, to be the guy that waited outside her bedroom door as he pleaded with her to hear him out while she bawled her eyes out.
