Richmond POV

I stared at Marcus's response to my anonymous email, reading his rejection for the third time in disbelief. He refused to meet with me because I wouldn't reveal my identity. The irony was bitter - he was accusing me of the same thing Vanya had accused me of, hiding behind secrets and lies.

But this wasn't about my pride anymore. This was about Vanya's life.

I had spent the entire night going through the evidence my investigators had gathered about Elena and Bernard's conspiracy. The threats were real, the danger was immediate, and Tuesday's investor presentation was clearly their target date for whatever they were planning.

Marcus thought he could protect Vanya through "legitimate channels," but he had no idea how sophisticated and dangerous these enemies really were. Elena had military-grade surveillance equipment, Bernard had inside access to Vanya's schedule, and they had hired professionals who specialized in making problems disappear permanently.

My phone rang, and I

Bernard POVI sat in the dingy back corner of Murphy's Bar, nursing my third beer and watching the entrance for Tracy. She had been released from prison two days ago, and when I called her, she had agreed to meet me. I wasn't sure if she would actually show up or if she would tell me to go to hell, but I needed to see if she was as desperate and angry as I was.At exactly nine o'clock, Tracy walked through the door looking like a completely different person from the confident woman who had once stolen my attention away from my wife. Prison had aged her in ways that went beyond the gray streaks in her hair and the lines around her eyes. She looked broken, defeated, and hungry for revenge."Bernard," she said, sliding into the booth across from me. "You look like shit.""You don't look much better," I replied, signaling the bartender for another round. "How was prison?""Educational," Tracy said with a bitter laugh. "I learned a lot about what happens to people who underestimate Vanya

Marcus POVI sat in my law office at eight in the morning, staring at the anonymous email that had arrived in my inbox two days ago. The sender claimed to have evidence that Vanya was in immediate danger, and the attached documents looked legitimate enough to make my blood run cold.Financial records showing Bernard and Elena's conspiracy. Phone transcripts revealing plans to sabotage Vanya's business. Bank statements proving payments to questionable individuals. And most disturbing of all, a recent purchase record showing Elena Westbrook had legally bought a handgun. The anonymous sender had asked to meet me at Sunrise Coffee on J Street to discuss protecting Vanya. Every instinct I had as a lawyer told me this could be a trap, but every instinct I had as someone who loved Vanya told me I couldn't ignore a credible threat to her safety.I had responded to the email, agreeing to meet, but as the appointed time approached, I found myself paralyzed by doubt. What if this was Bernard try

Elena POVI sat in my executive office on the twentieth floor of the Westbrook Financial building, staring at quarterly reports that made my blood pressure rise with every number I read. Three of my major investments had failed to meet projected returns, two business partnerships had fallen through unexpectedly, and my real estate portfolio was showing losses for the first time in five years."This can't be right," I muttered to myself, pulling up the detailed analysis my financial team had prepared. "How did we lose the Morrison Hotel deal? We had a signed contract."My assistant knocked and entered with another stack of papers. "Ms. Westbrook, I have the reports you requested about the recent changes in Sacramento's business landscape.""Put them on my desk," I said without looking up from my computer screen. "And get me David Morrison on the phone. I need to understand why he backed out of our agreement.""Actually, ma'am, Mr. Morrison's representative already called this morning.

Vanya POVI stood in the main showroom of Goddess Jewelry's flagship location, watching my employees carefully arrange our newest collection in the display cases. The "Phoenix Rising" line had sold out within two weeks of its launch, and orders were pouring in from boutiques across California and Nevada."Ms. Reed, the New York buyers confirmed their visit for next Tuesday," my assistant Madison said, approaching with her tablet full of notes. "They want to see the entire spring collection and discuss nationwide distribution.""Perfect," I said, admiring the way the afternoon sunlight caught the gold and silver pieces in the display. "Make sure the conference room is set up with the presentation materials and sample cases."It was hard to believe that just six months ago, Bernard had nearly destroyed everything I had worked to build. His sabotage had cost me three major contracts and thousands of dollars in lost revenue. For weeks, I had wondered if Goddess Jewelry would survive his a

Tracy POVThe early morning California sun felt strange on my face as I walked out of Sacramento County Correctional Facility carrying a small plastic bag with my personal belongings. Eighteen months in prison had felt like eighteen years, and I was surprised at how different everything looked outside the concrete walls I had grown used to.My parole officer had given me an address for a halfway house and fifty dollars in cash to get started with my new life. Fifty dollars. That was supposed to help me rebuild everything I had lost because I was stupid enough to let jealousy and anger control my actions.I had been released three months early for good behavior, which was ironic since I had spent most of my time in prison planning revenge against the woman who had put me there. But I had learned to keep those thoughts to myself and play the role of a reformed criminal who was ready to rejoin society. The truth was much darker. Eighteen months of sleeping on a narrow cot, eating terribl
