Lucian pulled up in front of Aurora’s house, turning off the engine with a quiet sigh.

The ride home had been peaceful—Loyd had fallen asleep halfway, his small body slumped against Aurora’s shoulder, while she spent most of the drive staring silently out the window.

She had been quieter since they left the island, her usual guarded nature slipping back into place.

Lucian had expected that.

But that didn’t mean it didn’t frustrate him.

For a moment, they had been something. Not perfect, not whole, but something close to a family. He had felt it in the way Aurora had finally let him in, the way she had stopped pushing him away, even if it was only for a little while.

And now, she was slipping away again.

Lucian exhaled. Not this time.

He stepped out of the car and walked over to Aurora’s side, opening the door for her.

She looked at hi

Lucian sat behind his desk, his fingers drumming idly against the polished wood. His mind was elsewhere—on Aurora, on Loyd, on the quiet, fragile balance he was trying to maintain. Since their return from the island, things had changed. Not drastically, but enough. Aurora had softened, just a little, and Loyd had accepted him with an ease that still left Lucian breathless. Even his conversations with Carmela had improved, at least somewhat. He knew it was still difficult for her to accept him again. After everything he had done to their family, she had every right to hate him. Every right to fear that her daughter might get hurt again. But Lucian had already decided—he would do everything he could to make Carmela accept him again. For Aurora. And then, maybe, he could believe that this was the beginning of something real. Yet, there w

Lucian sat in his office, staring at the city skyline through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The weight of the past few days hung heavy in his chest. Since the message arrived, his father had been on his mind more than he cared to admit. He had decided not to meet him. Whatever his father wanted, it didn’t matter. He refused to be pulled back into that world—into the cycle of manipulation and destruction that had defined his life for so long. He wasn’t that man anymore. He had Aurora now. Loyd. A reason to be different. A reason to stay away. But his father never took no for an answer. A knock on his office door pulled him from his thoughts. Alfred stepped inside, his expression unreadable. In his hands was a thick envelope. Lucian’s brows furrowed. “What is that?” Alfred’s hesitation made his stomach twist. “It arrived

Lucian stood in the quiet park, his gaze fixed on the two people who had changed his life in ways he never thought possible. Aurora sat on a wooden bench beneath the shade of an old oak tree, laughing softly as she watched Loyd chase after a butterfly. The boy’s excitement was contagious—his small arms stretched out, his bright eyes filled with wonder. Lucian’s chest tightened. Loyd had been happier than ever since learning he had a father. Every time Lucian saw the pure joy in his son’s face, it made him feel both overwhelmed and undeserving. Yet, he couldn’t deny the warmth it brought him. He never thought he’d have this—a family. A reason to keep going. But now, all he could think about was the threat looming over them. His father’s words echoed in his mind. "I’m not just coming for your wife. I’m coming for you." Lucian clenched his jaw, shoving his hands i

The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the garden as Aurora and Carmela sat at the outdoor table, steaming cups of tea in front of them. The air was warm, filled with the scent of blooming jasmine, and the distant laughter of children playing in the neighborhood. Aurora stirred her tea absentmindedly, her mind on the conversation she and Carmela had been having for the past half-hour. “Are you sure about this?” Carmela asked, her voice hesitant yet softer than it had been in the past when it came to Lucian. Aurora looked up, a small smile forming on her lips. “It’s what Loyd wants. And honestly… it’s what I want, too.” Carmela sighed, running a hand through her short curls. “I still don’t trust him.” Aurora expected that response. She reached over and gently squeezed Carmela’s hand. “I understand. After everything that happened, I wouldn’t expect you to forgive him easily.” Carmela’s lips pressed together, her expression unreadable. Then she let out a slow b

Loyd’s birthday had finally arrived. Aurora stood near the entrance, watching as children ran around, their joyful giggles echoing through the air. A fond smile played on her lips. Everything was just as she had envisioned—simple, yet grand in its own way. She glanced to the side and saw Carmela talking to some of the parents who had brought their children. It was heartwarming to see her mother trying to be more involved, even if she still wasn’t entirely comfortable with Lucian being around. Speaking of Lucian— Her gaze naturally drifted toward him. He was standing near the game station, watching as Loyd and a few other kids took turns trying to hit a piñata. His hands were in his pockets, his sharp suit slightly out of place among the more casually dressed parents, but he didn’t seem to mind. There was something different in the way he looked at Loyd—something softer. Something real. Loyd’s excited cheers pulled her attention back to the present. “I did it! I did it

Aurora stood near the dessert table, helping Carmela pack up the remaining cupcakes while keeping an eye on Loyd, who was excitedly showing his new toys to Rebecca. Everything had gone perfectly. Loyd was happy. And Lucian— Her gaze drifted to where he stood near the patio, speaking with one of the parents who had lingered behind. Even in the midst of a casual conversation, he carried himself with that quiet, commanding presence, as if he were always calculating his next move. But today, there had been something else in his expression—something lighter, more present. For the first time in a long time, it felt like they were a real family. Just as Aurora turned back to her task, Lucian’s phone rang. She heard the distinct buzz before she saw him glance down at the screen. His expression shifted, his body tensing ever so slightly. “I need to take this,” he said, his voice polite but firm. Aurora blinked at him. “Now?” Lucian hesitated for a fraction of a second b

Lucian entered his penthouse, the soft hum of the city below filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows. His mind was a storm, thoughts of Don Ramon, Aurora, and Loyd colliding in a battle he wasn’t sure how to win. Alfred was already waiting for him. The older man stood near the bar, a glass of whiskey in hand, his face unreadable. The weight of the situation sat heavy between them. Lucian loosened his tie and exhaled sharply. “Tell me everything.” Alfred nodded, setting his drink down. “He’s started gathering his people. The ones who remained loyal.” Lucian clenched his jaw. He had expected this, but hearing it confirmed made the threat feel more tangible. “He’s been reaching out to old allies,” Alfred continued. “Some of them are hesitant, but others…” He hesitated. “Others are eager to be under his command again.” Lucian’s fingers curled into fists. “How many?” “We don’t have exact numbers yet, but enough to be a problem.” Lucian turned toward the window

Aurora sat behind her desk, skimming through the reports Joseph had left for her earlier. The morning had been uneventful—just the usual workload that came with running her business. She was about to take a sip of her coffee when Joseph stepped into her office, holding a neatly printed invitation. “Ms. Aurora,” he said, placing it on her desk. “You’ve been invited to a business banquet this evening.” Aurora glanced at the invitation and raised an eyebrow. “A banquet? Who’s hosting?” Joseph straightened his glasses. “It’s being held by the Chamber of Commerce. A gathering of major business figures. It’s an opportunity to build connections.” She exhaled softly, tapping her fingers against the desk. Business banquets weren’t exactly her favorite events, but she knew how important they were. Networking, forming alliances, keeping up appearances—it was all part of the game. Still, she hesitated. With everything going on lately, she wasn’t sure she wanted to attend. Lu

Lucian rubbed his face with both hands after seeing the photographs Alfred had handed him.It was true. His adoptive father and brother were working together. And worst of all—it had been going on for a long time.“And you had no idea about this, Alfred?” he asked again, his tone hard.Alfred swallowed nervously.“Yes, Sir. Believe me—if I had known, I would’ve told you right away.”Lucian let out a frustrated sigh.Just like him, Lester had been raised by Don Ramon. He had found him in an orphanage too. But instead of telling Lucian that his brother was alive—and that he had found him—Don Ramon had kept it a secret. That only meant one thing:This was all part of a long, calculated plan.Everything that was happening now had been carefully orchestrated.Don Ramon had made sure that if he failed to manipulate Lucian, he had Lester as a backup.Lucian clenched his fists. All this time, he had thought he was alone in the world—believing he had no family. But in truth, he had simply been

Not even close.Don Ramon was out of prison. And worse—he and Lester seemed to be working together. Her chest ached again at the memory of that man.Lucian had lied to her. Again. They had been seeing each other for weeks, and yet he hadn’t mentioned any of it.They were even back together. And still, he chose to keep that secret. But why?“Where’s my grandson?!”Aurora looked up toward the doorway as a voice rang out. Her mother came rushing into the room, breathless and wide-eyed.“Oh God! Thank you, God! She rubbed her mother’s back, feeling the depth of her worry in every sob.“I thought I’d ne

Aurora's heart pounded as the car raced down the winding roads, city lights blurring like streaks of color. The GPS tracker embedded in Loyd's necklace had led them to a secluded warehouse district at the far edges of the city. The place was eerily quiet—the only sounds were the engine’s hum and the occasional rustle of wind brushing against the trees.“We’re close,” Aurora said, her eyes locked on the blinking dot on her phone screen. “Just a few more meters.”Lucian nodded, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. “We need to be cautious. Lester won’t make this easy.”When they reached the area, Lucian parked the car at a safe distance, concealed behind a row of abandoned trucks. The cold night air greeted them as they stepped out. Aurora pulled her coat tighter around herself, her gaze sweeping across the shadowy surroundings.“This is it,” she whispered. “Loyd is inside.”Lucian placed a steady hand on her shoulder. “We’ll get him back. Together.”They moved in silence, slipping

Aurora couldn’t stay still inside the car. Every passing minute put Loyd in even greater danger.“What’s taking them so long?” she muttered, her frustration mounting. She grabbed her phone and connected to Red.In an instant, Red’s emoji face popped up on the screen and greeted her. “Master! What can I do for you?”“Red, can you connect to any CCTV cameras in my location right now?”Red’s emoji face blinked for a moment. “I’m sorry, Master. But your location is abandoned. I can’t detect any internet connection or existing systems I can hack into.”Aurora’s shoulders slumped in disappointment. “How about a phone signal?”Red went quiet again. A few seconds later, an error message appeared on the screen. “There is a phone signal inside, but… they’re using old models. I can’t access them.”“Damn it! What’s taking them so long?” she snapped, slamming her hand on the steering wheel. Then Red’s voice spoke again—this time with something more urgent. “But… Loyd is not inside, Master.”A

We need to plan this out. I’m sure Lester’s not alone in there.”Aurora’s brows furrowed.“Lucian, he took my son. Our son. I’ll face whatever danger’s waiting in there. So if you’re scared, you can turn back now.”“That’s not what I meant, Aurora. I’m saying we have to be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to either you or Loyd. We won’t be able to save him if we just charge in blindly.”Aurora paused, taken aback. Her fear and desperation for her child

Aurora barely had time to think as she rushed through the grand hallway, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. Loyd was out there, somewhere, trapped in the hands of a man she had thought was long dead.Lester Aldric. The name sent a shiver down her spine. She had spent the last few hours wrestling with the shock of it, but there was no time for hesitation now. If what Red had found was true, then Lester was alive, and he was the one behind her son’s kidnapping. She clutched her phone tightly in her hand as she stormed toward the front door. She was going to end this. But just as she reached the entrance, the heavy doors swung open, and Lucian stepped inside.Aurora’s breath hitched.Lucian was dressed in a sharp black suit, his tie loosened slightly as though he had rushed here. Aurora hadn’t slept for hours. The weight of the situation had turned her mind into a whirlwind of thoughts, none of them bringing any comfort. The room felt suffocating, the silence deafening. It was the kind of silence that screamed for answers—answers that she still didn’t have. She sat in front of her laptop, staring at the screen as Red’s interface blinked at her, its cheerful emoji face betraying the severity of the situation.“Find him, Red. Find Loyd,” she whispered, her voice hoarse from the strain of the past 24 hours. Her hands moved across the keys, the same commands over and over again. Every search, every trace led to a dead end. Loyd’s whereabouts were still a mystery. The police were still investigating, but they had no leads. No clues. The frustration gnawed at her like a beast trying to break free from its cage.Every second felt like an eternity. Every thought was a question.
