Eve

As soon as I got to the office, Richard walked in and asked unsurely, “So you are back?”

I smiled and answered proudly, “Yes I'm back and I just got Sinclair to make me his legal guardian, even a prenup as a bonus”

“Wow, you're on overdrive. What did X tell you?” Richard asked.

“Speaking of X, did any of you tell him about our revenge plan?” I asked as a way of diverting the question, I didn't want them to know what Sinclair had done till it was time to expose him.

“No, not at all. He approached us and told us about how you were probably about to quit because Wilfred's death made you too emotional. He said he could get you back if you both met and after noticing your distance from us, I resolved to give him a chance. Why are you asking, does he know about it?” Richard answered.

Hmm, so he really has been watching…

“Yes, he does and that's fine because he's on our team. Away from that, how fast do you think we can bring down, Sinclair? I don't want to waste any more time” I asked

Eve's POVAfter making sure everything was for tomorrow, I returned home with a satisfied smile. Bill, Sinclair's dad, had left for his house despite our protests. He told us he just needed some time and assured us he was coming back. So that night, it was just the two of us. It was perfect timing for me, too, because I wouldn't have to be conscious about him. By the time he would be back, everything would have gone to shit.“Oh Evie, you are back. How is the situation at work?” he asked once I stepped into the house and he pulled me in for a hug.I sighed, I knew the workaholic in him would keep him concerned. “It was tough and I'm so tired. I did a public speech to debunk the news so now we can only wait for it to die down. You will have to stay low for a bit so it doesn't trigger people” I answered.Sinclair sighed and asked, “What about Khalif and the other investors, what are they saying?”“For now, no cause for concern. It's still too early to conclude, though,” I replied while

Sinclair “Mr Arnold, my wife is not just anybody so please remember that. I trust her with my life and I know whatever decision she makes will be the right one. With that being said, please direct us on where to sign so you can be on your way.” My frown had deepened, and my voice was firm to show I was being dead serious. No one can insult my wife, whether directly or indirectly; I will not tolerate it.After my mom's death, I have been thinking of how short and scary life is. One minute you are there and one minute you are not. I have been jealously protecting my position, but it was all meaningless in the grand scheme of life. I imagined it was me who died, Eve would have nothing and struggle alone in this cruel world since she was not aware of the contract I signed with her father. I couldn't show her the documents now because that would bring up a lot of questions, but if I could make her a legal guardian and sign a prenup, then she would get something to go by. It was my own wa

EveBefore I could blink, Sinclair had already crossed the corner to see me. I was wearing the pyjama shorts when he saw me. “Evie, what are you doing here and why are you changing your clothes?” he asked in confusion.I braced up and replied as casually as possible, “I couldn't sleep and thought I should see her grave, it was too chilly outside so I had to change into something better and I didn't want to disturb you either, that's why I came here to change” “Thank God it was just you. It would have been too awkward if it were your dad,” I added with relief and a dry chuckle.“Oh, I came down when I didn't see you. Are you feeling better now?” Sinclair asked in concern, which indicated that he bought my lie hook, line, and sinker.“These past few weeks have been too much, Sinclair. I don't think I can bear it anymore…” my voice broke in the end, while I completely changed, and I forced my eyes to go teary for a better effect. Sinclair sighed guiltily, came forward, and pulled me i

Eve“I’m sorry, Eve. Our dad never wanted us to meet and I thought I should still honor his wishes. Plus after Sinclair took everything back, he made sure to send people after me to completely silence me. I had no choice but to leave the country and try to get back on my feet. I struggled alone a lot, dearest sister, but the minute that I found out he married you, I was livid.I tried to interfere but Sinclair found out and sent people after me again so I could only watch in the shadows till I had enough to use in countering him. When I saw you trying to get your revenge on him, I was most pleased, and I vowed to make sure nothing stands in your way. It was perfect because he would never see you coming and I would be able to support you from the shadows. You are going to get revenge for both of us, Eve” he said.I was alarmed to hear that he knew so much, I thought my revenge plan was tight on secrecy. Or did Richard tell him?As if he could read my thoughts, he added after a short pa

Eve It took a week for me to decide I was going to see this mysterious X person. Aside from trying to keep the family together in mourning, the weight of my guilt pulled at me heavily. I wanted nothing to do with my revenge plan anymore, I was a murderer.Richard and the others didn't contact me again, as if they were very understanding to give me space or they knew I'd be back to resume what we started. It was that curiosity that led me to meet the X person, what could they possibly know that made them so sure? The card only had the name “X” and a phone number, and when I called, I was giving a hotel address to meet the next day at midnight. So after ensuring that Sinclair and his Dad were fast asleep, I stepped out and soon arrived at the meeting location. A worker was waiting outside for me, she led me to a private dining hall and I walked in to see a man in black suit and face covered in a facecap and mask.“I knew you would come, dearest sister” He spoke in a low but audible voi
