The fourth pedestal sat further from the others, recessed into a basin of carved obsidian stone, almost as if the chamber itself had recoiled from it. And in the center of that basin—barely flickering, barely visible—burned the Blue Flame of Wisdom.

Emma approached it slowly.

The air didn’t feel hot this time.

In fact, it felt… cold. Like still water in a sealed cave. The silence pressed down on her like weighted cloth. Even her heartbeat felt loud.

Behind her, Steve stopped at the final marble step.

“I can’t go any farther,” he said. “Can I?”

“No,” Long murmured, stepping beside him. “This trial is taken in solitude. Even the Sovereigns of old faced it alone.”

Sarah added, “Blue is the color of insight. Ice that does not numb. Flame that doesn’t warm. It’s not a trial of the body or of fury. It’s what you know, Emma.”

Emma exhaled slowly and stepped forward.

“It is time to give me control of your body, Terra,” The voice slithered onto the mind of the succubus. “It is time to move on to the next agenda.”Terra knew what was to come. She had initially believed that Adam would want to continue his mission to bring Nyx into the physical world but the god of the Dark realm had wanted to stay in his cursed human form.It disgusted her. She did not want to be stuck any longer in this realm and she knew that the only way was to get Adam to seat on his Hollow Throne so he could become Grimkeeper again. At least she was glad that he was going to visit Sterling Creek soon. She could not wait to see the look on Emma’s face when she realizes that Grimkeeper still lived.“I thought you wanted Priscillia’s body,” Terra stated.“Her will is too strong and her mind is full of desires that border on insanity and most of it is directed at my Grimkeeper. I refuse to share a body with my rival.” The voice said.“But I have desires for him too,” Terra said. “W

Steve stood beside his brother as they both watched from his hilled house as they feast ended. People were packing up and cleaning the streets. The drunks staggered home with their lovers while the Omegas of the pack cleaned up after them.It was a natural hierarchy in the werewolf world. The Alphas ruled with absolute power, the Betas were second in power, the Deltas were natural guardsmen and the Omegas were at the bottom of the food chain. The servants, farmers and maids.Emma had joined her human friend at the clinic where she tended to the people. Despite her new position as the Luna, she still cared deeply for the werewolves. The brothers stood side by side in silence and watched. This could potentially be the last time Steve would do something like this. They both basked in the silence.Steve had been angry at Stefan’s presence but the more he learned about his brother, the more unsure he felt.“What is your wolf called?” Steve asked, breaking the silence“Tyr,” Stefan answered

Everything clicked into place as the puzzles in Steve’s mind began to fit into the bigger picture. “You lead them here,” he said as he dreadfully realized.“Yes,” Stefan nodded. There was no point in denying anything.“So, all those Alpha you killed were actually innocent,” Emma stated with a shaky voice.“I needed to feed, brother,” Stefan said with a nonchalant shrug.“What the fuck are you talking about?” Steve asked with an angry snarl.“He feeds on the soul of the Alphas he kills,” Emma answered. “That was why I could not sense them.”“What are you?” Steve asked as he frowned in confusion at his estranged brother.Stefan sighed. “I think it is time I take you up on that offer of seeing the Pack, don’t you think?” he said.“Do not try to change the subject!” Steve thundered.“I have no intention of withholding anything from you brother, it is just that my story is a long and rather strange one.

“We cannot do that,” Blister replied as he walked with Emma and Steve through the forest.“But I am your Queen, you should obey me,” Emma said with a slight frown.“You are Queen only by name, Daughter of the Dark, not by deed,” Blister said.“You and your riddles,” Steve muttered in disdain as he walked on.“They have their ways of life, brother, just like you have yours,” Stefan said. Steve felt strange and unsure of how he felt that his twin was here with him. It was not something he had been expecting but then again, he had learnt the hard way to anticipate the unknown.“So, you are saying that there is something that I must do before I see the Hollow Throne?” Emma said. The creatures had long dispersed and were just walking about. Some had gone deeper into the heart of the forest to hunt for food.“You must prove that you are worthy to lay eyes on the Throne of Darkness,” Blister said.Emma already dre

The hot water soothed Adam’s aching join and he welcomed the pain he was going through with pleasure. The Nymphs under his control were scrubbing his body and kneading it with a tenderness that almost surprised him. He had been under their cruel, sensual torture for days but he felt no resentments towards them.“You should join us, the water is soothing,” Adam called to Priscillia who sat far away from them on a marble chair, brimming with jealousy.Priscillia ignored him as she watched everything with a cold rage-filled expression.“Jealousy does not suit that lovely face of yours, Priscillia,” Adam said with a gentle voice. “I know you want to join me but your misguided pride will not let you.”Priscilla stiffened from the truth of his words. She was infected with his Dark essence and she was only fighting a losing battle. "You only hurt yourself, what is done is done, take your loss with some dignity, if you have any left.” Adam added with a wi

It was a settlement of its own. A native of traitors. Steve was going to give them a deadly awakening. “Should we call in reinforcement?” Long said as they approached the village.“I am not going to waste my men’s time on these ingrates,” Steve growled as he walked faster.“You know it is wise to sneak in and take them by surprise,” Stefan said.“I want them to see me coming, brother,” Steve replied. “This is my territory and I hide from no one, werewolf or monster.”Emma was awash with her Alpha’s rage and she could already see the bloodshed that was going to happen in her mind’s eye. “Perhaps we should hear them out before we do anything drastic.”“I see no point in that,” Steve muttered.“They are just misplaced people who lost their king, Steve, they are refugees.” Emma implored.“Traitorous refugees,” Steve added sharply.“Hearing their reasons is not such a bad idea, brother,” Stefan said.Steve stopped abruptly and turned to Stefan. “You were hiding here for a long time and you
