Chapter 3

作者: Serein M
The Beta assistant assigned to treat me was Julian, from our own trauma wing.

When he saw my face, his hands froze.

His pupils shrank.

"Cora? What... what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in the healing room, treating the Luna?"

Before I could answer, one of the Enforcers spoke up.

"Oh? She's one of your healers? She fell into a deep pit lined with silver. We just pulled her out."

Julian was stunned.

He stared at my face.

His mouth opened and closed, as if he wanted to say something but swallowed the words back down.

Looks like he knew something.

But in front of the Enforcers, he didn't dare say a word.

He just silently picked up a specialized herbal poultice of Moonflower and Comfrey, gently applying it to my right leg to draw out the silver poison.

The process of removing the silver and dressing the wound was sharp and agonizing.

The silver in my blood suppressed my healing, so they had to put three stitches in the cut on my forehead.

My right leg, pierced by the silver spike, was wrapped in a thick herbal bandage, and I was placed in a wheelchair.

Then they wheeled me to get a head scan.

Luckily, the results showed only a mild concussion. Nothing major.

Seeing that I was conscious, two high-ranking Enforcers walked into the observation room with notebooks.

They needed to take my statement. It was standard procedure for an accident investigation.

"Cora, please tell us exactly how you fell into the wolf trap."

I leaned against the headboard, pretending to struggle to remember.

"I had just finished my watch and was leaving the main building when a colleague from the trauma wing called and told me to come back immediately to help.

"I was in a hurry, and I felt a little dizzy. I didn't see the open trap in the road. My foot slipped, and I fell in."

The Enforcers nodded as they listened.

A few minutes later, someone from the Sanctuary's security office rushed in.

They handed over the complete exterior surveillance footage for the Enforcers to verify.

The footage was clear and complete. It matched my statement perfectly.

After watching it, the Enforcers confirmed it was purely an accident.

Just then, I let out a sudden gasp.

I feigned a look of pure panic.

"Oh no! They're still waiting for me to help with the patient! Why have I been stuck here for so long?"

I did my best to act like the dedicated top healer I was supposed to be.

Ignoring my injuries and the Enforcers' protests, I struggled to get up.

"Push me over there! I have to get to the advanced healing room now!"

The Enforcers tried to calm me down.

"Cora, please, calm down. You're in no condition to lead a treatment right now."

But I acted like a madwoman, forcing myself to sit up and grab the wheels of the chair.

"No! I can't rest. I have to go see for myself!"

No one could stop me.

But by the time I was hurriedly pushed to the door of the advanced healing room, the air was dead silent.

The hallway was packed with members of the Ironclaw Pack, their grief and rage a crushing weight in the air.

The red surgical light above the healing room door was off.

The rescue was over.

For that, my colleagues in the trauma wing were eternally grateful. It was noon by the time I dragged my exhausted body back to my penthouse apartment. The moment I pushed the door open, the warm, rich scent of food filled the air.At the same time, the scent of my Mate—possessive, powerful, but deeply comforting—wrapped around me.My Mate, the all-powerful, highest-ranking Alpha, Dominic, was sitting anxiously at the dining table. The second he saw me, he shot to his feet. His eyes first landed on the bandage on my head. Then they froze on the thick herbal wrap around my right leg.A storm of rage brewed in his deep eyes. The dangerous aura of a supreme Alpha pulsed through the room. In a flash, he was in front of me, pulling me into a tight embrace."Cora! What happened? What did they do to you?"I called you a dozen times, and you didn't answer. I was going crazy. I was about to tear the whole Sanctuary apart to find you!"Breathing in my Mate's strong, hormonal scent, all the pain

The dashcam footage revealed the final truth. When the injured Luna was loaded into the ambulance, she was in critical condition, but her vitals were stable. She was not on the brink of death. It was Stella who, against the protests of everyone in the vehicle, stubbornly insisted on her own course of action. She recklessly injected the Luna with a large, undiluted dose of a powerful stimulant. Her technique was completely unprofessional. It caused the Luna's intracranial pressure to skyrocket. On the way back to the Sanctuary, the drug's backlash had already caused brain death. The video clearly recorded Stella's panic and the phone call she made to her father, Harrison, to plan their next move. All the evidence formed a perfect, closed loop. The truth was out.The real people who treated a wolf's life like dirt were Stella and Head Elder Harrison.Staring at the undeniable truth, the members of the Ironclaw Pack were overcome with a mix of emotions. They instantly realized they had al

Ever since I was a student, I've had a little-known habit. After writing the last letter of my name, I subconsciously add a tiny, almost invisible upward flick, like a wolf's claw, at the end of the stroke. It was an unconscious habit I'd developed over years. In my normal signature, the flick is so light it's barely noticeable.I had never told anyone about it.Not even Stella had ever noticed. Her forgery looked perfect at first glance, but it carried a fatal flaw."Those signatures are all fakes. At the end of the name, there's no little wolf-claw flick that only I make."Stella's fingertips trembled violently. She couldn't hide the panic in her eyes anymore. She never dreamed I had a habit like that. Her disguise crumbled. To make the evidence irrefutable, the Enforcer spoke in a low, firm voice."Bring me every physical file Cora has signed in the last three months. We'll compare them on the spot."The head nurse rushed to the archives. She returned with a thick stack of files and

The noisy crowd fell silent instantly.Everyone stopped and turned to look at me.At the back of the crowd, a flash of panic and guilt crossed Stella's eyes. She immediately stepped forward, shouting at me, trying to incite the pack again."Cora! The evidence is irrefutable, and we have witnesses. Are you still going to deny responsibility?"I didn't waste a single word arguing with her.I raised a hand and yanked down the collar of my patient gown. The smooth, unmarked skin of my neck was exposed for everyone to see. There wasn't a single trace of a silver burn scar.Every word I spoke was firm and clear."Look closely. I, Cora, am a Pureblood. Even a silver burn would heal perfectly. I have never had a silver scar on my neck!"But the person in the video impersonating me has the crescent-shaped silver scar of a half-blood wolf. That person is obviously Stella!"The crowd erupted. The Enforcer immediately caught the detail and strode forward. He grabbed Stella, who was panicking and t

The handwriting was neat, the style identical.Under Harrison's pressuring gaze, even the healers and Beta assistants from my own class confirmed it was my signature. At the same time, the nurses and assistants from the healing room all gave the same testimony."That's right! The lead healer for the entire emergency procedure was Cora.""We were in the room the whole time. We saw her with our own eyes. It was definitely Cora.""We don't know how she ended up in a wolf trap, but we've worked together for years. There's no way we could misidentify her."Unbreakable surveillance footage, a personal signature, and the collective testimony of multiple healers. It was a perfect chain of evidence, pinning the crime squarely on me.Public opinion, which had almost turned in my favor, swung back in an instant. The pack, which had just quieted down, was once again consumed by fury. This time, their rage was even more violent. And me? I just stared at the person on the tablet screen. My mind was

On the phone screen was the complete, unedited surveillance footage from outside the Sanctuary. There were no cuts, no alterations.Every second of the video was ironclad proof. The footage clearly established the timeline.9:00 PM: I finished my watch and walked out of the Sanctuary.9:10 PM: I received the call from the trauma wing and rushed back.9:18 PM: In my haste, I missed the open wolf trap and fell in.For the next twenty long minutes, I had no way to get out or even move. The Enforcer's gaze swept coldly across the crowd. He then spoke slowly, his voice loud and clear."According to the patrol's report and the rescue records, Cora was trapped at the bottom of the pit the entire time. Her right leg was severely injured by a silver spike, and she was completely incapacitated."He added more weight to his words."So please, explain to me how a person impaled by silver and trapped underground managed to use witchcraft, run into the advanced healing room, participate in the entir
