Wendy jumped in surprise. Who was it?

When she turned around, Stanley's handsome face came sharply into view.

He had chased after her again.

Wendy tried to pull her arm away. "What are you doing? Let me go!"

He frowned slightly. "I'm not letting go."

"Let go of me! Ah!" Wendy yelped as Stanley suddenly leaned down and tried to lift her over his shoulder.

Worried about the babies, she panicked. Struggling hard, she cried, "Don't carry me like that! Put me down! Hey!"

Seeing her resist, Stanley quickly changed his hold. He scooped her up in his arms instead and carried her toward his sleek black car. He opened the back door and set her inside.

Wendy tried to get out, but Stanley climbed in right after her and caught her wrist. "Stop it."

She froze and glared at him. "You're the one who needs to stop."

Stanley pulled her close against his chest. "It's okay. I'm not in pain."

He said he wasn't in pain, but that couldn't be true.
