Chapter 1253 Meeting Her Grandfather

Author: Night Eleven
It was sunset at the Grisham residence.

The Nobeetan wooden door opened. Aria's first impression was one of waning vitality.

The interior was cozy with embroidered tablecloths, ornaments, and strategically placed wall sconces in every corner. Still, Aria sensed the room's declining energy.

It was an unsettling feeling. Poor air circulation mixed with faint traces of rose fragrance. Then she heard coughing—deep, heavy coughs with labored and raspy breathing.

It sounded like an infection in the trachea, bronchi, and lungs. Unlike her usual ease in examining patients, Aria felt tense.

This patient was her grandfather, whom she had never met. Once a titan of industry, Clyde now required care in his illness. His condition was severe. Before checking his pulse, she could not be certain if there was still hope.

She had kept Sam outside. Chaos' dark energy would harm someone chronically ill.

Besides, Aria could tell Clyde's condition had not developed overnight. It would be fine

Rowan quickly called after Horace. "It's fine, Horace. We'll just earn money the honest way. Think of it as entertainment." Wystan chimed in too. "Rowan is right. Everyone makes bad calls sometimes. There are scammers in real life, and the ones online are even sketchier. You should stop playing too." Horace nodded slightly. "Yeah, got it." He could not hide the disappointment in his eyes. As Rowan watched Horace's retreating figure, he said, "Wystan, something feels off about Horace." Wystan nodded gently. "I feel it too. It's like he's losing himself to the gambling game." Rowan felt a pang of regret. "I wouldn't have taken that job if I'd known. Then Horace wouldn't have seen it and wouldn't have played this crap." Wystan shook his head. "Even if he didn't see it now, it doesn't mean he wouldn't run into it later. Let's text him and tell him not to play anymore." They both pulled out their phones and sent messages to Horace. Back in his car, Horace sat there feeling f

Rowan Yestin, who was lying in bed, opened his eyes groggily. "Are you insane? It's early in the morning. What the heck do you want?" The other young man, Wystan Lurnon, got up and yanked his blanket off. "Get up already! I found a way to make some money!" Rowan sat up when he heard that. "Really? Wystan, if you're just messing with me, you're dead." Wystan pointed at the computer screen. "Someone just sent a file to my backend asking us to run their ads. They'll pay us 2,000 dollars as long as we keep it up for two hours." Rowan paused. "Are you sure? That's basically free money." Wystan nodded hard. "Of course I'm sure! They already sent me a thousand as a deposit. Once we finish, they'll send the other thousand." "Show me what kind of ad this is." Rowan sat down at the computer and looked at the email. "Isn't this just gambling ads? What if people get scammed?" Wystan waved dismissively. "It's not our problem if they get scammed. It just means they're way too greedy.

The sudden intensity knocked Aria off balance. She shook her head a little, trying to snap out of it. But the heat from Landon's hand was too hot to brush off. "Hold on." Aria's breath came fast and ragged, like she'd sunk into quicksand. The harder she fought, the deeper she went. Landon smiled down at her, yanking his collar open with one hand. A shirt button popped off and hit the floor. His dark shirt made his neck look even paler, giving off an air of control and hunger. Any woman would've melted on the spot. After all, Landon was tall, loaded, and gorgeous. He was literally the best man anyone could ever ask for. But all Aria could focus on was his throat and those faint veins under his skin. Her throat went dry, and she had this wild urge to just sink her teeth in. Landon did not smell like cologne, yet it was such a pleasant scent. Aria felt the need to just eat him alive. Her fists balled up tight. Between her dry throat and that amazing smell coming off him, she

Right after Landon answered Aria, Sawyer strolled over to where they sat. "Ms. Carver, do you have a place to stay in Portfall? If you don't, you're welcome to stay at my place. I've got a few spare rooms that are just sitting empty." "Mr. Pratt, you don't need to worry about where I'll be staying. And please don't call me Ms. Carver. Just call me Aria." Aria paused for a moment before continuing. "Please, take a seat. He's one of us, so there's no need to worry about him." Sawyer nodded and settled into the seat on her other side. "Alright then, I've made a decision about something important. I'm going to transfer the Pratt Group over to you." When Aria heard this, she froze. "That won't be necessary. You should just keep managing it the way you have been. I came to Portfall to find the old members of the Chamber of Commerce, but I'm not here to take away the things they've built. "I just wanted to check in and make sure everyone was doing alright." However, Sawyer shook h

Landon arched his eyebrow with amusement. He said, "You've always been an amazing woman. No matter how complicated things get, you'll always find a way out." Aria's voice carried a hint of laughter. "That's only because you're always by my side." She turned to Sam. "Sam, come here." Sam heard Aria calling and bounced over eagerly. The moment he sat down, Aria said softly, "Sam, we can't have fried chicken and burgers tomorrow anymore." Sam's head whipped around. "Huh? Why not?" Aria's brows drew together. "Because I need you to handle something." Sam shook his head hard. "No way! I want to stay with you, Boss!" Aria held his face and asked, "Are you not going to follow my orders anymore?" Sam stuck out his bottom lip. "You finally found me, yet now you're leaving me again. I don't care. I won't do it." Aria leaned in closer, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear. "Sam, Mr. Pratt is one of our people. I need you to protect him and make sure nothing happen

The man's voice carried across the room, so all the guests turned to look at the entrance. It was actually Sawyer who had rushed over to the banquet, with Sam and Piper standing behind him. Kelsier heard him and strode over. "I'm glad you made it. The banquet just started, and we've got food and drinks ready. Please take your seats." Sawyer smiled and said, "Thanks, Mr. Keating." Aria and Landon also looked toward the sound of the voice. She initially thought it was just another late guest, but when Aria glanced past the first man, she spotted a young boy wearing a suit. Aria's eyes widened with joy. "It's Sam." Hearing Aria's words, Landon followed her gaze and looked behind Sawyer. "You're right. I'd never expect him to be here." Aria was about to get up and head toward Sam, but Landon grabbed her arm. "There are too many people here. Stay put. I'll handle it." They hadn't found any trace of Sam on the dark web forum or through any other channels, so running into him he
