Chapter 53: Internship day 1 over

**Hannah’s POV**

The hours crawled like they were mocking me. Every tick of the clock pressed heavier on my chest, the air in Bristo Enterprise thinning until I swore I couldn’t breathe.

At about eleven, Damon ushered in a man with a camera and a woman dragging a makeup kit, I nearly groaned out loud.

“Passport photographs for your intern IDs,” Damon explained smoothly, motioning us forward.

Lily practically leapt into the chair, already fluffing her hair. The makeup woman hovered, her brush moving in swift, practiced strokes. By the time she finished, Lily’s face looked painted into something sharp and glossy, almost plastic.

“My God, I look divine,” Lily preened at her reflection.

‘You look like a witch,’ I thought bitterly. The powder was caked, her lips far too red.

When it was my turn, I sat stiff in the chair. “No makeup, please,” I said quickly.

The woman laughed softly, already opening a compact. “Darling, nobody takes passport photographs wit

Chapter 58: Getting Married To Lily **Lucas’ POV** I moved fast, pushing the door open with more force than necessary. Damon followed right behind me, his long strides quickening to match mine. I could still hear Lily’s voice at the front door, sugary and insistent, trying to get my attention. We slipped out through the back exit. The door banged shut, muffling her completely. Fresh air hit my face like relief, crisp and sharp after the suffocation of that office. We walked towards the garage and I could hear people protesting, it wasn’t very loud but loud enough for people within the company to hear. Damon drove out and we found placards bobbed above the small crowd gathered beyond the gate, words scrawled in thick black ink: “Justice for Maya.” “Stop Shielding Abusers.” “Bristo Enterprise = Corruption.” Damon exhaled slowly, scanning the scene with the calm detachment of someone who’d already memorized every detail. “They’re still here.” “Who are they?” “A group of an emplo

Chapter 59: Dreaming In The Wonderland.**Lily’s POV**I was already in wonderland, dreaming of my wedding day with Lucas and how I am going to ride him with reverse cowgirl all through our wedding night to the extent that he isn’t going to ever think of another woman.Suddenly, I felt was someone nudging my arm.“Miss Lily… Miss Lily, it’s past six.”I stirred, blinking my lashes heavy with sleep. John’s voice was tugging me out of the most restless nap I’d had in weeks. My eyes flew open and immediately adjusted to the dim light of the office wing. The cubicles were quiet.“Where’s Lucas?” My voice came out sharper than I intended, slicing through the stillness.John shifted awkwardly in his seat, his glasses catching the overhead light. “He left about an hour ago. With Damon.”My stomach plummeted. “He did what?”“He left already, with Damon.” John said carefully. “Were you waiting for him?”I shot to my feet, my blazer sliding off the back of the chair. The quietness of the floor

Chapter 57: Piper and Gavin**Hannah’s POV**The moment I stepped into the lecture hall, I didn’t even have a second to adjust before Piper came barreling toward me like a human rocket.“HANNAH!” she squealed, practically leaping into my arms. Before I could brace myself, she actually lifted me off the ground in one of her bear hugs.I gasped, arms flailing. “Piper, put me down! People are watching!”She ignored me, squeezing tighter. “Oh my God, you look amazing! Look at that makeup! Who did this to you? Don’t tell me you were trying to win Lucas’ heart with it”“Stop it!” I wriggled free, finally planting my feet back on solid ground. My cheeks were hot from all the stares our classmates were shooting in our direction. “You’re embarrassing me.”Piper stepped back dramatically, pressing her hand to her chest like she’d just been blessed with a vision. “Hannah Black… transformed! The glow-up is real. You’re stunning. Internship looks good on you”I rolled my eyes but couldn’t stop a s

Chapter 56: The Paper Fight**Lucas’ POV**“I am so sorry, I didn’t know...” Damon’s voice cracked, rough with something I couldn’t quite place. Shame, maybe, or fear of what he had walked into.He stumbled backward, his usually steady composure splintering, one hand already fumbling for the door handle like it was his lifeline. His eyes wouldn’t settle, skittering from me to Lily and back again, panic flashing across his face. Damon never panicked. But right then, he looked like a man desperate to disappear. My stomach lurched. What? He couldn’t just leave me here drowning in this mess with Lily.“No…” The word ripped out of me, harsher than I intended, sharp enough to slice the air. My voice ricocheted off the office walls, leaving silence in its wake. Damon froze mid-step, his fingers tightening on the door handle.“Don’t leave,” I pressed, my tone clipped, commanding. The words carried more weight than I meant them to, but I didn’t back down. “This is important.”I turned to Lily,

Chapter 55: I like Hannah**Lucas’ POV**I couldn’t get Hannah out of my head. Her face had been haunting me since I saw her framed by that soft makeup she’d worn for the photograph. It wasn’t even heavy, not like Lily’s polished perfection. It was simple… just enough to highlight her curves, her sharp eyes, that maddening mouth. Damn it.She was so pretty.I had stared at her through the glass walls of my office, longer than I should have, wondering how in the hell someone could look so effortless and still leave me this rattled.Every resolve in my to make her hate me crumbled. I do not want her to hate me more, she was too pretty to hate me, I don’t think I would be able to live with myself if she hates me, especially when I am the one who orchestrated it.Now, alone in my office, I was sprawled across my desk like a corpse, forehead pressed against cool wood, my hand gripping the pen so tightly I thought it would snap. What was I supposed to do with this?Day one of the internship

Chapter 54: Today Sucks!**Ray’s POV**I wasn’t fast enough to stop the intruder from invading, partially because I thought it could be Lily. The door creaked open before I could even think of straightening myself, and one of the very elderly cleaner came in, probably in her late sixties, hair gray under the tied scarf, holding a bucket in one hand and a rag in the other. She didn’t look up at first, probably not expecting anyone in the room as Lily isn’t back yet. When her eyes met mine, she screamed in terror. In a few seconds she realized it was me.“I’m so sorry sir, I thought it was vacant” she said, and noticed I was wrapped in towelsI wonder what would have been in her thoughts at that time because her mouth parted into a soft gasp, her eyes widening, full of alarm and her wrinkled face scrunched in shock as her gaze darted over me. bare legs, wet lower shirt sticking to my skin, towel wrapped hastily around my waist, and worst of all, the unmistakable fact that I was standing
