As soon as Evan went away with the blood-stained wools, Alijah sat down on a plastic chair beside the unconscious man. After checking his forehead and making sure that he wasn't burning with fever, she relaxed her tense feature a little.

She was still watching to see if there would be any reaction from the man when her stomach growled and she was reminded of the fact that she hadn't had her dinner yet. She got up from where she sat and went into the kitchen to get something to eat.

When she got to the kitchen, she rummaged through her stuff and saw that she only had oatmeal and some milk left in the refrigerator. She sighed as she served herself some, knowing that she had no choice.

She was almost at the door when she remembered that she hadn't fed her cat, Peace, her dinner yet. Alijah went back and got the cat's plate, poured some of her cat food into it before she picked it up carefully and she returned to the room with it.

The cat sat on the white chair her owner had vacated only a few moments ago. It waited for a few seconds to see if her owner would be back. After peeking in the direction she had seen her go through and there was no sign that she was coming back immediately, the cat meowed once.

The cat raised her paws and they turned into human hands. Within the blink of an eye, the seat that had been occupied by the cat before was now occupied by a young lady with two different eyes.

Renee moved her black lustrous hair away from her eyes and she smiled a little. After she had had an argument with her brother over what he had done to Alijah, she felt so guilty toward the other woman and didn't know how to apologize to her.

Somehow, Renee had found Alijah's location and she had thought that she would pay her a surprise visit. From there, she could apologize to the woman on behalf of her brother and maybe explain to her who they were.

All those were against the supernatural world code but Renee liked Alijah and she didn't want them to separate on a bad term.

Little had she known that she would run into a hungry vampire who thought that she was good. She had had no choice at that moment other than to transform into her gigantic cat form to defeat the vampire who was a lot stronger than her because he was true blood.

She would have killed the vampire if she hadn't smelt a human coming toward them and she had quickly changed from being a gigantic cat into a little cat.

That was the peck of her cat power. She could transfer into a normal house cat or she could grow as tall and big as a tiger. It was all dependent on her choice.

If she had known that Alijah would scoop her up and take her home as a pet, she would have run away immediately she had scared the vampire away. Ever since then, she had been looking for ways to escape from her new owner.

But Alijah was nice to her and that made leaving a hard decision for her to take.

Her eyes focused on the unconscious man and the smile that had found its way to her face disappeared very fast. Now was not the time to be happy with herself.

She rushed over to the man and held two of her fingers over his lips. When she felt the slow but steady already fanning her fingers, she relaxed.

How had her brother gotten injured to this point again? Besides, how did he find out that Alijah lived here? Or had he collapsed at her doorsteps just by a stroke of luck?

"Scott! Scott!!" She called his name and shook him lightly. She heard no response from him and thought that he might not want to open his eyes since he didn't know who was calling his name. "It's me, Renee."

When he didn't move even a muscle, she became worried. The last time he had fainted this way, he had refused to wake up for a very long time. But since his hair wasn't white, it had to mean that he was okay.

"Scott. Wake up, will you?" She shook him again. Again, she was greeted with utter silence on his part.

When she didn't know what else she could do, she sent a telepathic message to Lucas.

*Lucas! Lucas!!*

*What? I'm mixing herbs.* The other man responded.

*Scott fainted. Come check him out now.* She told the man.

In a flash, Lucas was already beside her. The other man took only one look at her before he focused his attention back on Scott. After he examined him for a while, he turned back to Renee. The moment his eyes fell on the young woman, he looked away again.

"Get a dress to put on, will you?" He told her.

Renee looked down on herself and saw that she was stark naked. Shame gripped her but she shook it away. She knew that she couldn't put on any dress since she would be transforming back to her cat form any moment from then on.

"I'm not here as a human guest. I'm here as a cat. A pet." She waved her hand in the air in a dismissive gesture. "So, what's wrong with him?" She pointed to her brother.

"Demon poison." When Renee exclaimed loudly, he continued. "His body is already neutralizing the poison since he is a half-demon. So, don't worry."

"Oh, good." Renee exhaled.

"How come you are here? Did Scott tell you anything?" Lucas asked her with suspicion.

Renee was about to answer when she and Lucas heard loud footsteps that kept drawing nearer to where they were.

"Who is that?" Lucas asked. His stance was already of one who was ready for war.

"That must be Alijah. She owns this house." She explained to him. "Now, leave." She ordered him. When Lucas kept staring at her like she was mad, she raised her brows at him. "She must not meet you here, Lucas. How would you explain your identity? Or how you even came to be in here despite the locked door?"

"True." He answered like he agreed. He however kept tapping his chin with one of his fingers, lost in thought about his next line of decision. He had to see her woman first before he left but he wouldn't tell the cat girl about it. "Just true," he said again and he smiled to himself.

"Now, go," Renee commanded him.

Lucas didn't bother to argue with her and simply nodded in agreement with her.

Renee bent low and in a blink of an eye, she was back to being a cat. When she saw that Lucas was still standing, she meowed at him in a warning.

"I want to see what that woman is like." He said as an explanation. He wanted to know if the woman was ugly or an invalid, for Scott to reject her completely. "I'll leave after that."

Renee meowed in a menacing way that dared Lucas to remain where he was. When he made no move to leave, Renee grew into her tree big form.

"It would be quick, I…" Lucas stopped when a loud humming tone sounded from the direction the footsteps came from. "Looks like she's almost here." He announced to her like she didn't hear it.

He watched as the cat went from being a tiger cat to being a house cat in only a second.

Lucas nearly laughed at the way Renee behaved and he bent down to pet her on the head. She sneered and tried to claw him. Lucas stood up and rolled his eyes at her before he disappeared too.

Alijah got into the room, humming a low Christian tune that was usually sung at the church she attended. Once she was fully in the room, she dropped her cat's food for her on the floor where she sat while she dropped her food on the chair.

She watched as the cat smelled the food and how she pushed it away with her tiny paws. Alijah sighed and gave her potion of oatmeal to the cat. She should have remembered that her cat doesn't like eating cat food.

She smiled and petted her cat on the head when she began to eat the food hungrily.

"Peace, we might not even have oatmeal to eat anymore if I can't get a job soon," Alijah told her cat. She moved a few strands of her red hair away from her face.

As if the cat could understand what she said, she stopped eating and rubbed itself against Alijah's leg.

"Come here, you good pet." She scooped the cat up and embraced her. "Don't worry, I'll take care of us." She hoped that she could keep that promise. "But first, let's hope this man wakes up soon."

The cat meowed in support.

"You'll find out soon enough, and you will join him in his misery." he taunted, his voice dripping with menace. "I don't know who you're talking about but Scott never faces misery, if you keep talking smack about my best friend, you won't have the ability to talk soon enough. " Alfred warned him.
