Soft giggling drew his attention over his paperwork to the little girl in front of his desk. Her black and blonde hair in pigtails and her green and red eyes sparkled with glee. He raised a brow at the child before lowering his gaze down to his papers again. The giggling only intensified. He rested the paper down on his desk, leaning forward on his elbows to intimidate the child. She only giggled more.
"You have a strong will, Myra." He said as he leaned back in his chair and waved her around. She jumped up before she dashed around to hop on his lap, "Surely you'd have more fun with your toys rather than me."
"I wanna play with daddy." She grumbled as she puffed out her cheeks. He couldn't control the corners of his lips twitching. He sighed as he got up from his chair while holding her in his arms as he stood in front of the large window that looked out over the training yard. He watched as Damion paced along a line of fresh recruits, his voice echoi
She picked up the third Grimoire, blowing the dust off of it and ran her fingers over the intricate leather bound cover. She sat cross-legged amidst the pile upon piles of books Janice left behind. With each slow turn of a page, time flew on by, but she hadn't been able to get any answers that she hoped for. Amira let out a breath as she casted her gaze over to the mystery book she had yet to crack open since she had received it some time ago. She still didn't quite understand the significance behind it, but she hoped Willow did. Whenever she woke up again."This is going to take me ages." She blew her hair from her face, "Grimoires are spellbooks." She snapped the book shut, "I need a book on the actual history of... anything at this point." She set the book aside for now and brushed the dust off of her knees."Having a hard time?" Aiden's voice surprised you from the gated entrance. He leaned against the metal frame, his hands in his pockets and his
The chill in the air caressed her cheeks and kissed her nose. Her eyes fluttered open and took in the change in scenery. She had grown used to her mind being thrown around from place to place, yet right now her mind felt even more drained than it normally did while she experienced a vision. It could be for the fact she had just awoken after being in a comatose like state for some time, or maybe there was another reason all together. She cast her gaze around to the desolate trees that surrounded her. She could have mistaken it as the forest she had visited to see Hecate, but there was no lush greenery to fill her sights or the coiling of a snake around her feet. This place felt more isolated with the barren trees with not a shred of life to them. The ground dulled down with brown grass and cracked dirt patches like the area hadn't seen rain for weeks. She turned her attention to the left and to the right. There wasn't a single life form within the vicinity. No squirrels. No birds. Not
When Willow came to, she had a look on her face that Aiden could only describe as realization and acceptance. She blinked a few times with Dante beside her. Aiden never saw someone disappear mentally like that before, but he half expected for her to not come back looking so calm either."It all makes sense." She finally said, "Her revenge and why we are connected." Her eyes lifted to Amira's. Aiden glanced over to his Mate and recognized the glimmer of acknowledgment in hers."What did you see, my dear?" Dante asked as he tucked her hair behind her ear. Aiden followed the tuck down for a moment and noticed two dark scars on Willow's neck that he could only assume were left by Dante at some point. He felt his stomach churn for a moment as he turned his gaze away and stood a bit closer to Amira. She raised a brow at him questioningly."All that I needed to." She said as her hands rested in her lap, "I watched the day Karmina died."&
She watched Aiden pace back and forth at the edge of their bed. It had been a week since the devastating attack on his home. When the police arrived, Willow was able to weave and bend her magic to manipulate the memories of the officers. A candle was left unattended that got carried away. At least, that's what the report would say. In regards to the creatures that were burned in the fires, Jax and herself took care of disposing them as they should. Six feet under with silver, herbs, just about anything and everything they had at their disposal to prevent these things from rising up again. In the mean time, Amira took Aiden and Lymeria into her home above the bookstore until further plans were made. Jax left to meet up with Leyla and update her on how things turned out here. As the year was coming to a close, nothing seemed to be weighing in their favor yet."Aiden..." She called to him softly, but he continued to pace as if he didn't hear her. She let her shoulder
What was I thinking? He sat on the edge of the cliff that overlooked the lake and forest below, observing his pack members building their new community. After the agreement was settled to put Godfried and his Witch in their place, he dedicated his time to their situation. Seeking advice amongst the political Wolves of the pack to see what they could obtain. With a bit of luck on their side, they managed to strike a deal and bought land just outside the city. He didn't dare ask what all went down for the deal, he was just grateful that his pack finally had a place to call home.Even now, amidst the heavy snow the Wolves were busy with their construction. Several houses were up already in a matter of a few months. As long as they had put their time and effort into it, many things could be accomplished in such a short time.Snow crunched beneath footfalls, her scent drifted on the wind to him as she stopped beside him and took a seat, he
He walked the empty halls, his hands clenched at his sides as his eyes darted left to right and back again as he passed by the empty rooms. Each of his members up and left one by one over the course of a few weeks. He knew where they had gone, he just couldn't wrap his head around it still."Aiden." He growled his son's name in distaste as his fingers turned into claws and scratched along the wall. The wallpaper shredded as he tore through it, the underlining woodwork splintering off in tiny pieces. How did it all come down to this?He collected himself, his fingers turned back to normal as he adjusted his charcoal tie and flattened out the wrinkles in his royal blue suit and continued his walk to his room. Everyone else would be gone, all except for her. His only true ally in a world full of traitors."Godfried?" Her sweet voice reached his ears from the end of the corridor where she stepped out from her bed chambers. He felt his Wolf gr
The bolt whistled through the air before piercing deeply into the trunk of an oak tree. Amira let out a slow breath that turned into white smoke before her eyes. The sun was nearly set, long, dark shadows casted across the clearing she made into her practice field. The snow was still thick on the ground, the Wisconsin Winter nearly half way finished, yet the cold and snow only seemed to get worse. She lowered her crossbow and blew loose strands of her hair from her face before taking a look around the darkening woods. This was her personal quiet space for solo training while she gathered her thoughts about the battle that was coming. Aiden had been preoccupied with settling in his new pack members as the new Rogue Alpha, although he still grimaces at the mention of it. Jax and Leyla were on their way back from Madison to help in the fight and train with the Rogues while Lymeria..."Amira!" Lymeria's voice called out to her from behind, "I thought I'd find you here
She peered over to Dante's half-naked sleeping form beside her. She brushed her fingers through his dark hair and caressed his cheek. He stirred slightly, but did not wake as she crawled out of bed as slowly and quietly as possible. She stepped up to the mirror that occupied their hotel room and in the dim light of the moon that came in through the window, saw her reflection staring back at her. Willow ran her fingers over the fresh bite mark on her right breast Dante had left behind. She didn't feel fatigued like she normally did after he drank from her. It was strange, or perhaps with her new powers she inherited from Janice, she's able to withstand the effects of a Vampire's bite. She tugged on the longer strands of hair, her lips pursed as she mentally decides on a trim when her eyes shifted over to the white book on the nightstand beside her bed. The same book she always met with Hecate whenever she needed her wisdom. Except this time, she felt certain that this is where
