Chapter 3

Penulis: Perfect Timing
I was forced to lift my head with our noses almost touching.

"I can cure your impotence."

At those words, Jerome's eyes darkened. He gripped my throat tightly. "Rather than believe in some vague, far-off possibility, I'd rather make sure you take this secret to the grave."

His grip tightened.

I clutched at his hand, struggling to force out the words. "Three days… Just give me three days and you will see … results… If it doesn't work … you can deal with me then…"

Jerome finally let go. In that brief minute, I thought I was going to die there.

I only dared to say that because I was completely confident.

In my past life, it was even harder to deal with Lester than Jerome. I only stayed by his side for so long because I was useful to him.

I majored in medicine. My parents insisted I consider Abbie's feelings and never outshine her.

No one knew how skilled I actually was. All they knew was that I spent an entire year treating Lester's leg until he was nearly back to normal.

What they didn't know was that Lester was also impotent. I treated him before I finally got pregnant.

The memory made me draw in a few deep breaths. Then, I began to check him.

Fortunately, his condition was the same as Lester's. It wouldn't be hard to treat.

"How did you even know I had this problem?" A hint of doubt flickered in his eyes as he grabbed my hand.

I smiled and made up a lie. "I was about to marry you. Of course, I had to look into my future husband's background."

In my past life, I knew his condition through Abbie.

Abbie had tried everything to seduce him, but nothing ever worked. So, she drugged him and brought in a private doctor to examine him. That was when she found out that Jerome was impotent.

When Jerome woke up, he flew into a rage. He silenced all the news and had her committed to a psychiatric hospital.

Hearing my answer, Jerome's pupils contracted. He muttered under his breath, "Even knowing all this, you still didn't choose Lester…"

Jerome was easier to deal with than I'd thought. I prescribed him a round of medication. If it worked, he'd have to accompany me back to my home three days later.

When the day came, I waited outside the door and never saw Jerome. So, I decided to just head home by myself.

As soon as I stepped inside, Abbie beamed and pointed to the piles of gifts. "Dad, Lester and I picked out this aged whiskey for you. And this imperial emerald is for Mom."

Mom and Dad were beaming, showering her with compliments.

When they saw I came home empty-handed, Abbie's voice went sharp. "Eliana, did Jerome let you come back alone?"

I chuckled. "Lester didn't come back with you either."

Abbie pouted and showed off the huge diamond ring on her finger. "You don't get it. Lester is the CEO of Hanson Group. Of course, he's busy. As for Jerome, he's just a shareholder."

As she raised her hand, I caught a glimpse of a purplish scar under her sleeve.

Lester was a master of appearances. In my past life, his legs had been crippled, and his personality was unpredictable and cruel. Every night, he'd beat me with whatever he could grab.

I'd endured it for a long time. After his legs started healing, he finally let me off.

Now, seeing how happy Abbie was, I didn't bother to expose her. I just walked past her and headed to the bathroom.

When she saw I was ignoring her, she eagerly followed behind. "Eliana, Jerome didn't prepare any gift for our parents, did he?"

At the sight of me still not being bothered to respond, her eyes darkened. She suddenly splashed her glass of red wine at me, yet she slipped in her heels and fell hard to the ground.

Abbie's cries of pain drew my parents over. She immediately played the victim, trying to blame me for her own mistakes. It was something she had always done.

"Dad, Eliana wanted to hurt me! She said she wants me injured so that I'll never have the Hanson family's first grandson! She's trying to harm me, Mom!" she said between sobs.

I was about to defend myself, but Dad's eyes darkened with anger after he caught bits and pieces of Abbie's words.

He raised his hand high and commented, "You came back without your husband and didn't even bring any gifts. And now, you're jealous of Abbie? What are you trying to do?"

Before I could say anything, someone stepped in front of me.

"Who said I didn't come?"

Jerome looked like someone caught eavesdropping. I quickly hid the panic in my eyes and turned away to wipe my tears. He took my hand, pretending not to notice anything. "I already bought the grilled salmon. Just waiting for you to come home and savor them," he said softly...The Hanson residence was eventually seized, and David was sentenced to death.Overnight, Lester declared the bankruptcy of Hanson Group. When I heard the news, I was lying in bed, eating the grapes Jerome had washed for me.Jerome casually gossiped, "The moment Lester got wind of the situation, he secretly sold off all his shares. Hanson Group was nothing but an empty shell. Abbie probably won't be able to escape his grasp either."He was right. At first, Abbie still posted the occasional update online. However, her account went silent over time.It wasn't until a year later that we heard about her again, and it caught everyone off guard. After Lester had her sent to a psychiatric facility, he died in a

This case ran too deep, too wide. It was tied to decades' worth of buried crimes. Before David realized the files were gone, Jerome and I handed everything over to the police and formally reported him.At dawn, we contacted the media and held a press conference.Jerome stood before a barrage of flashing cameras and declared loudly, "I, Jerome Hanson, hereby sever all ties with the Hanson family. I am publicly reporting David Hanson!"As his voice rang out, the screen behind him lit up with the evidence I had preserved. The moment it aired, the story exploded across the news. The more attention we drew, the harder it would be for David to escape justice under the public eye.Everything was going according to plan until Abbie decided to stir the pot for clout."I'm publicly reporting my sister, Eliana Gibson! We both married into the Hanson family, but she drugged and locked me in the basement just to stop me from having the firstborn heir! She's always stealing from me. She can'

The study looked perfectly normal. However, after I died in my past life, I saw David secretly twist a vase and open a hidden room behind the bookshelf. All the secrets were locked in there.Relying on the memory of my past life, I was just about to open the shelf when a dark figure clamped a hand over my mouth."Don't scream. It's me, Jerome."I nodded silently before nervously turning to look. Jerome was dressed in black, his attire even tighter than mine."Save the talk. Let's get inside first."To my shock, he stepped forward and twisted the vase himself. The bookshelf creaked open, revealing a dim, cold light inside. He slipped in first, and I followed closely behind. The interior was just like any modern room. Both walls were lined with shelves, each holding rows of transparent jars filled with odd, unidentifiable objects.I picked up a book at random. Inside were handwritten notes and long lists of names. "How many people have these things ruined…"Still in shock, Jer

The basement had only a bed and a toilet, nothing more than the bare essentials. Meals were delivered on time every day.To everyone else, it was a prison. However, to me, it was a rare opportunity. The only problem was the surveillance camera in the corner.Just as I was racking my brain for a way out, Lester showed up. He stayed in the camera's blind spot, keeping a careful distance from my small cell."Eliana, do you want revenge on Abbie?"For a second, I thought he'd been reborn too, but his next words dismissed that thought."I know you've been secretly fighting her over the inheritance. She has falsely accused you more than once, hasn't she?"Lester and I hadn't even crossed paths in this life. His sudden appearance only made me more suspicious."You and Abbie are married. Aren't you afraid she'll find out what you're doing behind her back?""Abbie…" Lester sneered as he slowly adjusted the cufflinks on his sleeves. He coldly said, "That idiot runs off to sleep with diff

Abbie happily raised her glass to celebrate but accidentally spilled juice during the meal. She asked me, "Eliana, can you come with me to change my clothes? I don't really know anyone here."My eyes twitched. So she hadn't stirred up any drama earlier because she was saving it for now.David spoke up. "Eliana, you should accompany Abbie since she is carrying our family's most precious grandson."I nodded and followed her to the changing room.Quietly, I checked her and confirmed she really was pregnant. While I zipped up her dress, Abbie met my eyes through the mirror. "Eliana, you must be dying of jealousy. Soon, everything you had in your past life—your husband's love and billions in inheritance—will all be mine."I gave a scornful laugh. "Will you really be happy after you finally have it all?"After Abbie had me killed in my past life, I was not reborn right away. Instead, I discovered a shocking secret.I drifted above and saw someone dissecting my belly, taking the fet

David hosted a family banquet every Christmas. This year, with both Lester and Jerome recently married, they were expected to bring their new wives to greet the elders.Lester's parents, Michael and Sarah, were still nowhere to be found. In my past life, I never met them either. All I needed to do was show the proper respect to the famously formidable David himself."Just greet Grandpa the way I told you to," Jerome said.I nodded, looping my arm through his as we stepped into the living area.In my past life, I'd already been pregnant by this point. When I attended the family banquet, everyone looked after me with care. David gave me 10 million on the spot to ensure my safe pregnancy. On the other hand, Abbie hadn't conceived and was on bad terms with Jerome. The maids looked down on her. In a panic, she accidentally spilled coffee on David and was forced to kneel in the hall as punishment. When I stepped in to plead for her, I was harshly scolded. That night, Lester jabbed doz
