INICIAR SESIÓNLIA’S POV
“James!” I yell as I realise the sound is coming from further into the woods.
My heart skips, then slams back in motion and I don’t think as I rush forward, my mind screaming. I can’t lose James, not him too. I am more than certain that he had to watch his mama die. My heart breaks for the little boy, how scared he must have been.
As I walk further into the darkness, every nerve in my body goes on high alert as I feel an odd chill in my bones. I never come to this part of the woods, as it has always given me the creeps and it isn’t any different.
I stumble on a root, almost falling in my face. I hold myself together, breathing heavy as I try to navigate my way in the dark. The moon has been completely covered by the cloud and without any wolf powers, I can barely see more than a few steps ahead. But if James is here, he would be even more terrified. My eyes catch something on the ground in front of me.
“Oh no.” It is blood. And then I see him, a figure laying on the ground a few steps ahead.
“James!” I run towards him, my panic fueling my movement, but it's not until I’m standing directly in front of the figure that I realise that it is bigger than James’, very much bigger.
I am staring at a fully grown man, a very naked grown man with surprisingly toned skin that even the darkness can’t hide. He looks a little larger than anyone I’ve ever met, lying unmoving on the ground, his face directly in the dirt, with a muscular back that is halfway covered by long black hair. I have never seen anyone like this in the pack before.
I feel blood rush to my cheeks and I avert my eyes.
That is when I notice the source of the blood. On his leg, or what’s left of it is a huge gash, no, not a gash. It looks like someone tried to tear his leg off completely. The blood flows from the top of his thigh to his ankle.
Bile rushes up my throat. I can clearly see his bone! And it doesn’t look like he is healing.
I take a shaky step forward.
Is he dead?
I look around but there’s no one else here. Well, I guess that’s a good thing. Lesser chances of me getting murdered, too.
Terror claws at my heart, my chest tightening as I move back. My mind imagines different scenarios of the situation James could be in at this very moment, each one worse than the last, with no one to protect him, to hold his hand and tell him everything will be alright. I should run.
But I hesitate, almost like my body refusing to move. It feels completely wrong to leave this strange man lying helplessly here without doing anything.
I move closer to him, my steps slow, trying to check for movement. If I don’t know who he is, that means he is part of the people who did this to my pack.
Suddenly, I feel the urge to end him myself, to avenge the death of James’s mother and everyone else whose lives have been taken away. To avenge every pain, every tear that has been brought to my pack. He is as helpless as any wolf can ever be, even more than I. I can take him before he can even lift a finger, but every bone in my body screams no.
My skin tightens as I move in to nudge him, to check for any sign of life. However, the moment the tip of my finger comes in contact with his shoulder, sparks explode. That is what it feels like. I fall backwards, as if pushed by an unknown force, but it is only my fear. My ass hits the dirt hard as I fall to the ground and I feel something tear into my leg. But I don't have the time to dwell on the pain, not when my eyes are transfixed on what is in front of me.
I let out a loud gasp, my features contorting in horror at the scene. I am familiar with the sounds of bones snapping when a werewolf transforms, but this is very different.
Coming into the woods was a terrible mistake.
LIA’S POV My head hurts. Scratch that, my entire body hurts. What on earth did I do last night? I shut my eyes as soon as I opened them. It’s too bright. Wait? Bright? I sit up in a rush, well I try to. I always wake up before dawn to make breakfast for the family. If the sun is up already, that means I am in big trouble. My body feels very sore, and trapped. I look downward and let out a gasp. A naked man is lying on top of me! “Oh my goddess!” I exclaim and kick him off me.His huge body rolls to the side like a piece of rag. “Wow.” I clutch my head in my arms, confused.“What on earth happened last night?” I look at my surroundings, and it is completely unfamiliar. It looks like a cottage. Old, but it looks well managed. It looks pretty small, just enough for one person, and for some reason I am lying at the entrance with a naked man. I shoot another look at his direction and I feel my cheeks heat up. I rise to my feet and take it all in. The space is dim, with the only l
LIA’S POV I don’t move an inch, I doubt I can even if I tried. My entire body is frozen in fear. Is this how I die? My eyes follow as the man in front of me rises to his feet, but he is no longer a man and he is not a werewolf either. Every inch of his body is covered with pure black fur, long arms that extend till forever, his legs longer than half of my body, and his sheer size would send an alpha werewolf running with his tail between his legs. He stands like a man, but his body looks nothing like a man, more like a wolf mid-shift. I shut both eyes tight and pinch my arm. The pain confirms my fear. This is not a dream, I open my eyes slowly with the hope that I imagined it all, but here his stands, his figure almost one with the dark and for some reason, I see him clearly. A shiver goes through the body, but this time not from fear. It’s a sensation I can’t explain but not one I can dwell on, certainly not now. I can’t die here.I try to get off the ground, but as soon as I m

LIA’S POVJames and I lie side by side on the grass; it’s completely dark now and the sky is lit up by a thousand stars. I stare at them dreamily. Could Papa be up there staring down at me now? I hear James turn again. I know he is itching to ask questions. I’m surprised he’s held it in for so long. I sit up facing him. “Okay, ask away.” He sits up immediately, his expression innocently guilty. “I promise it’s just a few questions this time.” “Ask now, before I change my mind.” I tease. “Who is the hybrid?” He asks, those large eyes peering up at me through the darkness. I wait for my body to still as it always does at the sound of him, but it doesn’t. That’s a good sign. “No one knows what he looks like,” I respond calmly. “But they say he is part vampire and part werewolf.” “And he killed you papa.” He says quietly. “Yes.” I hesitate. “A long time ago.” “Before I was born?” “Yes. Long before you were born.” I say lightheartedly. “What will you do if you meet the hybrid
LIA’S POV“Where the hell is she?!”My heart thunders in my chest as the sound of footsteps gets nearer. I move the porcelain dish from one trembling hand to another. If I break Aunt Maya’s plate, I can’t imagine the consequences. The door to the little kitchen bursts open, shaking the house, or maybe I’m the one shaking. “You!” She marches towards me, her face red, with fingers jabbing forward. I move back a step. “You slimy bitch! What did you say to Alpha Lucas?!” What? My eyes catch movement at the doorway, Elizabeth. Those sickly blue eyes meet mine, her lips pulled in a satisfying smirk. My heart drops. Aunt Maya raises her arm, but I don’t have enough time to brace myself before it comes down fast, on my face. I stagger backwards, my hands strambling to grip the counter. But trust my luck, my hand slips, the shattering sound of porcelain fills my ear before I hit the ground. I feel the shards cut into my skin, stinging, and my eyes fill with tears. But I don’t dare let t
