Chapter 8(Riley's pov)

Riley’s pov,

‘’Riley Lightwood?’’ An unfamiliar face stood at the entrance and scanned through the room until their eyes found mine. ‘’Your attention is needed out here!’’

‘’Oh..that’s the team captain’’ Felix said

‘’Why is he calling me then?’’

“You should go. I will take notes for you”

Sighing heavily, I decided to go see what it was all about. Getting outside, the guy smiled and said,

"Hey, I’m Tim, captain of the football team. You don’t mind, do you? He grinned

What is he talking about?

He put his arms around me and dragged me along with him.

‘’ Hey, what’s going on? I’m not interested in joining your team if that’s what you want.’

I complained as I struggled to get his arms off me.

He didn’t reply and continued dragging me to a corner in the football field, getting there he threw me against the wall and spat on me.

‘’The fuck!”

I yelled, trying to process what had just happened, and struggled to get his saliva off my face

“You? On the team? What a joke’’ he laughed

‘’What did you do that for? Are you insane! I clenched my fists as I watched him double over in uncontrollable laughter

"You guys can come out now, this little shit is hilarious," he said out loud. Confused, I looked around and saw a bunch of people coming out from different corners.

I recognised some of them from the orientation, they came closer with clubs and ropes in their hands as they surrounded me with hatred in their eyes.

‘’UGH! Is this it? A girl who stood out from the crowd wearing what looked like a cheerleader outfit with her hair in a ponytail spoke up and moved closer.

‘’Unfortunately, and do you know what he said? He thinks I want him to join the team’’ Tim said out loud,’’ that’s the stupidest shit I have heard all year ‘’ bursting into another fit of laughter, which grew louder as the others joined in.

‘’How bold’’ the girl snickered and grabbed my face to hers ‘’ how can a thing like you be theirs? You look distasteful! UGH! She dropped my face harshly and moved back

‘’ Don’t be sad now darling, that’s why he is here with us’’ Tim said

‘’ What is the meaning of this! You'd better let me go now and I will tell on one about this

Tell whomever you want, " one will believe you or stand with you’’ another tall, lean guy with a buzz cut said as he walked closer

‘’What’s the meaning of this you say? I will be considerate this once and enlighten you’’ he said

‘’ Move, let me do the talking…’’ the girl interjected Darius has always had eyes on me, I was certain that he can’t survive without my presence before your stupid ass came along and now he is all over you’’

‘’ And Cassian has always loved to fuck me, he said i was his favourite to fuck’’ another boy with black curly hair said

‘’ Kieran has always been obsessed with me too, he almost marked me the last time’’ said another girl from the crowd.

Their words and voices made me angry with a new emotion, one I haven’t had in a while.

‘’ This could have been avoided if you never came’’ he stepped back before adding ‘’ let get the party started’’

The moment he said that, the crowd rushed at me and started to hit me while calling me names

At this, I had stopped struggling and started to think to myself

I paused with my thoughts, the thought of him taking over started to scare me more than the beatings I am enduring.

‘’Come on kiddo, we are stronger than this and you know it, don’t be stubborn now!’’ he demanded but I suppressed him like the first time and took the beatings instead.

I started to feel weaker and tired

Everyone paused at his order and stepped back

‘’How are we feeling? Still eager to join the team?’’

Feeling battered and weak, I turned to look at him and said

‘’ Like I said, not interested’’ sneezing and coughing out blood, I tried to crawl away

‘’Hey! Where are you going?’’ a voice asked, turned me over, and stomped his feet against my stomach.

I groaned at the pain, as everyone laughed at my pain

‘’Turns out you were no match for us’’ the cheerleader girl said as she bent near my face ‘’ heard you are eager to leave.’’’she snikered ‘’ i do want you out though but that would be a dream come true for you’’ she added, pressing her finger to her chin to think.

‘’’ What should be the best punishment for him? She turned, directing the questions to the crowd.

‘’Becoming our mat?’’ one suggested

‘’ Eating our leftovers?’’

‘’Cleaning our shoes.’’

Let’s end him’’ a familiar voice suggested, and this made everyone freeze in their tracks

It was the boy who wanted Cassian. What’s the whole point, if he becomes our maid, he would still be here anyway, and will probably get more attention or something’’

‘’Right…. Then I have an idea’’ Tim said

Waled came closer to me and grabbed my arm to sit me up

‘’Everyday at 6pm you come here for your punishment….and you must not let anyone know your whereabouts or follow you here. You must come in secret ‘’ staring into my face with a grin on his Do you understand?’’ he asked.

But I was feeling too weak to give him an answer, which irked him as he grabbed my hair tighter and slapped me hard across the face

I nodded my head weakly as he let me go.

‘’Good, let’s go.’’

He said to the crowd and they started to leave

‘’ So what’s his punishment going to be?’’ someone asked as they walked away

‘’ So…’’ his response faded as I lost consciousness.

Opening my eyes, I could see nothing but darkness

‘’You should have allowed me to deal with them… ‘’ a familiar voice said from behind

I turned around sharply and came face-to-face with a very big wolf with ginger fur, i stuttered back and tripped over nothing.

What….who are you? I asked, feeling my heart beating fast.

I am your other half…Rica’’ the big wolf replied

Widening my eyes ‘’ Rica? You are Rica….how’’

How are you here? This is your subconsciousness, kiddo, you passed out after taking all that beating that could have been avoided if you had listened to me ‘’

I took a look around and noticed that it was still dark and there was only light around us

‘’ You ok? I groaned as my eyes tried to find the owner of the voice before it landed on a familiar face.

‘’ I wonder what happened to you and looked for Tim who told me he only spoke to you at the class entrance and didn't know where you went, and then someone found you unconscious on the field ... .what happened’’ he rambled while trying to catch his breath.

I tried to say something when the door suddenly opened

‘’ Riley!’’’ a familiar voice that sounded urgent yet frustrated, followed by a familiar vampire came to my bedside

‘’ Who did this to you?’’ Another demanded.

‘’We need names sweetheart’’ Cassian who had always looked gentle and sweet looked angry and ready to kill. As they all stood over me waiting for an answer.
