Alexander POV

I sit on my perch on the front porch, trying to enjoy the birds. It is the only enjoyment I get these days. I sit here waiting for Macon to show up and kill me any day now. I know he has taken his vampire form, and he will come for me and soon for Kate and the baby. Macon will have his revenge. That is one thing I can found on death by my hybrid son.

I hear a truck coming up the driveway. Desire comes outside to see what is going on and who is coming. "Are we expecting visitors, Alexander?" Desire asks me.

I look at her, puzzled. I shake my head and look harder, trying to see what or who is coming. "No, but that looks like wolves. Smells like them too," I say to her.

"Do you think it is Kate?" Desire asks.

"No, she hates me. She would never come here for help. Let us just wait and see who or what it is, but be ready," I say to her.

"I will get the gun, you know, just in case," Desire says.

I reach out and touch her hand. "No need. I can smell Kate on them. This is not a
