Chapter 1

Luca didn't come after me when I left the estate.

Behind me, his friends were still hooting and hollering.

"Looks like she's trying a new move this year! Don't give in too fast, Boss!"

"Luca, she seems genuinely pissed off this time. Aren't you gonna go after her?"

Luca gave a quiet laugh, "She can't live without me. Give it a couple of hours, and she'll come crawling back on her own."

That very night, he opened the betting pool at the family's private casino.

Luca put down fifty thousand euros, betting I wouldn't last two days.

Isabella snapped a photo of the spare keys next to her breakfast and posted it to the group chat.

[Donna Trial—Day 1.]

The chat exploded immediately.

[Ciao, hats off to the Donna!]

[Looks like Isabella's taking over the master bedroom and the Boss's heart today!]

[Boss, if Isabella is the Donna now, everything in Viola's closet is fair game, right?]

Luca did nothing to put a stop to it. He chimed in: [Of course. Isabella, not just the clothes, everything in this house is yours. Enjoy.]

When I saw that message, I was clearing out dust in the small apartment I'd bought before getting married.

No one had lived here in a long time. The furniture had grown old, several patches of wallpaper had peeled off, and the dust made me sneeze the moment I walked in.

But at least here, no one treated my identity as a game reward.

The first year Isabella took my bathrobe, I broke down crying in front of everyone.

Luca held me and spent hours comforting me. He said he just wanted to see if I'd get jealous over him.

He even promised this was the first and last time.

Now, Isabella was pulling out my designer gowns from the closet one by one, trying them on and letting our family friends help her pick out which outfit suited a Donna best.

She put on my silk nightgown, did a little spin in front of Luca, and asked, "How's this one?"

Luca sat nearby, glancing up casually, "Honestly, it looks better on you than it does on her."

The room erupted into laughter again.

Someone asked why Viola hadn't shown up yet. Isabella's eyes welled up with fake tears, "Viola takes things way too seriously. It's just a game. I only did this to show her how much you two love each other. I had no idea she'd throw a fit and leave."

Luca pulled out a tissue and handed it to her, "Forget it. We all know she'll be back soon anyway."

Luca recorded all of it and sent it to me. He also sent me a text.

[Still upset? Don't be so stubborn, it's just a harmless joke. Every marriage needs a little passion. If you're going to keep playing the runaway wife, you might as well come take the rest of your things.]

When I went back, the estate guards refused to let me in. My fingerprint no longer worked either.

In the end, it was Isabella who opened the gates for me.

She was wearing my bathrobe, stepping around in my slippers.

The master bedroom had already been redecorated to her taste. My bedding had been swapped out, and my vanity had been completely cleared of my perfumes and jewelry.

Our wedding photo, which used to sit on the cabinet, was unceremoniously taken down and propped up in a dusty corner. Half of my face in the picture was blocked by a cardboard box.

Luca shoved the box toward me, "Viola, playing hard to get only works once."

Isabella bit her lip and murmured timidly, "Maybe... I should just move to the guest room?"

Yet despite her words, she remained rooted right there in the middle of our master bedroom, without the slightest intention of moving out.

As expected, Luca caught her arm, "The Donna sleeps in the master bedroom."

With that, he turned to look at me. A familiar glint of amusement danced in his eyes. He was waiting for me to rush forward to reclaim my room, or to break down crying, demanding to know who he truly loved.

Instead, I just picked up the cardboard box, "Is there anything else?"

For the first time, the smirk on Luca's lips faded.

He stared at me for a few long seconds before his voice turned cold, "Have it your way. Let's see how long you last."

I gave no response, turned around and shut the door.

Through mutual acquaintances, I eventually heard whispers of how things turned out back at the Fontana family.Luca never ended up with Isabella.Isabella packed her bags, left Naples, and was never seen again. The clique of friends who placed those annual bets drifted apart, fractured beyond repair.Luca still lives in that grand estate, but it no longer has a lady of the house. He introduces my portrait to everyone: "Viola Rosso, my one and only Donna. She is the love of my life. I was the biggest fool in the world, and I lost her."Someone asked him why he still kept his ex-wife's belongings, why he still talked about me to everyone. He said, "She is no longer in my life, but at the very least, she cannot be missing from my memories."I once ran into him at an exclusive international trade summit. He was sitting in the audience; I was the keynote speaker on stage. When my presentation wrapped, he clapped harder than anyone in the room.As the crowd dispersed, he caught up with me at

The very next evening, Luca gathered the Fontana family's most critical business partners at an exclusive private club. For the first time in his life, he stood before the elite crowd and admitted the truth."The person who built this business alongside me, who brokered every major contract you signed, was Viola Rosso. She is, and always has been, the true Donna.""Isabella was never the Donna of the Fontana family. I merely lent her that title, using her as a pawn to provoke my wife."Within hours, the truth about the notorious "Seven-Day Game" and the long-running betting pools spread like wildfire through every major family. The inner circle who had taken part in those bets went into hiding almost overnight. A few even reached out to me through mutual contacts, desperately begging me to clarify that it was "just harmless banter among close friends."I didn't waste a single word on them, blocking every last number.Isabella's reputation was utterly ruined. The sycophants who used to

It didn't take long for the Fontana family's business empire to show its cracks.Suppliers were suddenly demanding renegotiated terms, and major port authorities insisted on dealing with me, and only me.Within days, a tidal wave of crisis hit the family. Only then did Luca finally suffer the agonizing realization that every major deal closed over the last few years had been driven by my hands behind the scenes. I just never boasted about it.Worse yet, Isabella was rapidly burning everything to the ground. After taking over my responsibilities under Madre's orders, she threw herself into the work with naive enthusiasm. But business requires far more than blind ambition. She hastily restructured the revenue split for a high-stakes port deal, instantly insulting a long-term partner. Then, she recklessly agreed to an exorbitant rate from a supplier, leaving Luca to step in personally, pay millions out of pocket, and smooth things over. The mess she made in a mere two weeks was enough to

Isabella had only sprained her arm.By the time Luca rushed back to the estate, the family doctor had already finished examining her, confirming there were no broken bones and that a few days of rest would do the trick. Her eyes were red as she reached out to grab his hand. "Did you really hand out the divorce filing with Viola?"Luca stayed dead silent for a long time, then gave a heavy nod.An unmistakable gleam of triumph flashed through Isabella's eyes."Luca... this is amazing! I can't believe you did that for me! You're finally free!"She looked up at him, her voice dripping with vulnerability. "Can I ask you something? During those seven days... was there ever a single moment you actually saw me as your wife?"Luca offered no answer. His mind was suddenly flooded with the realization that over the past six months, Viola hadn't even reached out to ask about him once.He had spent months believing she was just waiting for him to break.Only now did it hit him with sickening clarit

At nine sharp the next morning, Luca showed up at the family law firm right on time.He was wearing a sharp, dark gray tailored suit and clutching my wedding ring tightly in his fist. The moment he saw me, his expression relaxed into a calm demeanor. "Sleep well last night?"His tone was so natural it felt like we'd just had a routine spat.I didn't answer, taking my seat directly across from the lawyer.Handling our affairs was the family's long-time legal counsel. He slid two sets of divorce papers across the polished wood table, offering a final confirmation."Do both parties consent to filing for the dissolution of the marriage?"Luca's eyes stayed fixed on mine, remaining silent for a long moment.Only when the lawyer repeated the question did he break into a faint, self-assured laugh. "Consent."As his pen touched the paper, he looked up, his gaze entirely composed."Viola, I'm giving you six months to get this out of your system. You can come home anytime you want.""Because onc

As the final stroke hit the paper, every last drop of laughter in the room died instantly. The crowd that had been counting down just moments ago now stared at me in stunned silence, their phones still frozen in midair.I capped the pen and pushed the divorce papers back across the table. The smile on Luca's face froze solid. He yanked the document toward him, frantically flipping to the last page. When he saw my signature inked clearly on the line, his face went deathly pale."Viola. Do you even realize what you just signed?""I do," I said."This isn't one of those fake documents we used to play around with! This is real!" he shouted."That's why I signed it," I replied calmly. The spell broke, and a few people in the room finally reacted. Someone forced a dry laugh, scrambling to smooth things over."Man, Viola's taking her acting to a whole new level this year! Come on, Luca, just call the game off already.""Yes, it was just a seven-day trial run. We were all just messing around."
