(Next Morning)
Alicia's pov
The room was filled with maids attending to Xenia's needs.
A direct order from the king...
I'm glad her head had been bounded by the doctor. He got here as early as possible.
"We're done, your highness" Esme said walking Xenia to where I was - on a lounge chair.
"Oh! You look beautiful dear" I cooed taking Xenia's hand.
She was in a pink dress and her blonde hair was fixed into a ponytail with a tiara on it. So princess like...
"Thank you Mom" she muttered and sat beside me.
"How's your head now?" I asked rubbing her small fingers.
"I'm fine mom" she replied wryly.
"And I'm about to have breakfast now" she added standing up.
I chuckled and held her hand before turning to the
Dawn's povI grabbed the guard's arm as soon as he was about to leave."Where do you think you're going to?" I asked glaring at him."The king told me to sit somewhere and supervise your punishment, your highness" He replied with a stutter and I rolled my eyes."Don't tell me you'd sit here and watch a princess carry two heavy buckets in the name of punishment. I haven't even had breakfast you jerk. And from the weakness i feel, I won't survive this punishment if you let me do it alone" I muttered holding him firmly. He looked around as his cheeks turned tomato red."Well...what do you want me to do, princess?" He asked feebly and I smiled."Can you please lend me a water hose that'll channel the water into the drum making the work easier for me? It's not too much to ask, is it?" I pouted giving him both an innocent and a seductive smile.
....Dawn's pov....I never thought I could feel my heart beat so loud like it had intention of leaving my chest. He still had his back facing me and that made me relieved though. Why would he ask such...all of a sudden!Oh heavens!I might as well tell him the truth and face the consequences than to trapped to keep telling lies to everyone."The truth is...Suddenly, the door flung open and two men barged in. They were dressed as knights and had swords with them."My lord...we brought the gold thief. Should we bring him in?" The first knight asked gingerly."Bring him in" king Lee muttered after a short silence. The two men turned and made a signal towards the door. Two guards made their way in pushing in a man with them. The minute the trio got to the center of the room, the knight gave the man a brute
Dawn's povAfter what happened earlier today, I was starting to fear King Lee the more.He killed a man emotionlessly.Without even thinking much about it.Just remembering it sends shivers through my veins. I don't think I have the guts to escape this place. If it doesn't turn out to be successful and I get caught, I'll brought to him.He won't waste time in hurting me.I did as he said and prepared for the banquet right before it would begin.I met the other wives on the way but I moved faster to the hall with Caroline behind me.Guests from all places where starting to arrive but ignored them all and moved to the seat kept for me. Bethel's povI stood at a corner staring aimlessly as the evening grew darker. The decorations were beautiful and so were the qu
Dawn's pov:I remained hiding as I felt him stand at a particular spot for a while - doing nothing.I could swear my breath hitched at that moment and I stopped breathing.Oh mercies!I can't believe this is happening to me.I think I'm destined to die this way - in the hands of King Lee..I struggled to take another peep since he wasn't moving. He just stood stiff staring at the bed, probably at sleeping Xenia.I really couldn't explain what began happening at that minute. The room became too quiet and I literally felt King Lee's heartbeat.Yes...it felt so strong and heavy. Like his whole emotions were being released on seeing Xenia lay sick on the bed.I was starting to feel that strong love a man has for his daughter.King Lee can actually care about someone this much??Wow!
Dawn's pov:I couldn't stop switching sides on the bed. I was so uncomfortable and really wanted to be in the right spot.I unleaned from the bed and stared down at the pillow.I gave it a few punches before I plonked back on it roughly. Then an irrirating knock came on the door ruining my sleep.I ignored the knock completely covering my ears."Princess Anna" Caroline called out and my eyes flickered open. The door creeked and Caroline walked in. Firmly closing the door behind her.I noticed her hair was left untied and her top quite revealing.I didn't put much interest as I stretched my arms and legs before curling up on the bed."Good morning, Your highness...How was your night?" She asked with a bow and I smiled lightly."It was fine, thank you" I muttered perfunctorily.
Dawn's pov:I blinked rapidly still trying to stomach what the King just demanded.Does he mean it? Does he really want me to tell him a story?Geez! But I'm not a damn storyteller. I'm always occupied with work that I don't sit down for stories.I could barely remember those stories mom would tell me before I went to bed. I was pretty much younger then.Oh...how do I get out of this? How do I make something up??"I'm waiting..." King Lee muttered rolling his eyes."Well..you see, I'm really not in the mood to tell a story, my Lord" I bickered and I heard him scoff."I'm damn bored. I command you to be in the mood of storytelling before I ask you to fill three drums with water and I'll supervise you myself, you brainless rat" He sneered and I glared at him.Who does this king think he is??...I cleared my thro
Dawn's pov:I struggled free from his grip and pushed him away from me.I didn't fancy the way he held me one bit."Don't you ever hold me like that again" I seethed and he rolled his eyes."Calm down...would you? The last thing I would do is to take advantage of what now belongs to the king."I just came to let you know about something that has been bugging me for days now" He paused and took a deep sigh."King Lee's soldiers are still in Muzana. They haven't left their camp yet...and I'm worried" He spilled and I felt an intense heat building up again.Oh God."Why haven't the soldiers left, Dawn? They should have left the moment you began living here. Does it mean...you're not enough? Isn't the king pleased with you, yet?" He asked obviously perturbed. My eyes dimmed and I was starting to loose my balance."I don't know the answers to
Dawn's pov:The guard opened the door and I walked in feebly.I never thought I would ever step foot into this room again...not after I slept on the king's bed.The loud noise of the door closing startled me and I snapped outta my thoughts.King Lee was on his bed and the duvet covered the lower part of his body.I approached him and stood beside him. There was a black towel placed on his forehead and his eyes were closed."Good morning, My Lord" I greeted with a bow and his eyes fluttered open."I'm disappointed in you. I'm here getting weaker and sicker and you had no intentions of coming to see how I was doing?" He asked glaring at me.Geez! He talks too much🙄"I'm sorry. I was just tired from standing up through out yesterday" I replied pouting."You could have told me you were tired of standing up" He sneered
