The Mating Ceremony

Jade's point of view:

"The training is off today!" My mate shouted at the pups, then continued with a louder voice." See you tomorrow at the same time and place!"

The pups who were fighting on their human form seemed totally relieved knowing that the training is over, which kind of gave me an idea about how hard James is going on them.

"Take it easy on the kinds..." I tiptoe to whisper near into his ear while making our way toward the pack hose.

My small act got my mate stopping in his tracks. He turned to face me with a devilish look on his face, then stated.

"You know how hard it is to stop your wolf from claiming his mate? I don't think you have any idea how badly I'm wanting to mark you?"

His questions sort of made me huff and puff about our entire situation, which you'll understand about soon.

"I'm going through the same... Can't you see! Why can't we mate as normal werewolves do?"

"Well, that's your mother's wish…" He started, and before he finished what he was saying. I cut him off.

"Why should we listen to what she says? I mean, that's our right… I kind of believe…. That it is all just an excuse… I guess you don't feel the same I feel toward you."

It's all a stupid thing. I mean, who gives my mother the right to decide such an important matter.

You might wonder what that stupid deal my mother made was. Well, she... when she discovers that James and I are mates, declares that we're not going to fully mate until my brother finds his mate or takes his alpha position.

Therefore, it's been a year since James and I discovered that we are mates, nevertheless, he didn't even mark me.

The farther we can go is a kiss full of tension, since both of us tried our best not to lose control and break the Luna's word.

"Don't say such a thing!" He exclaims with a soft tone. "I've always loved you, even before knowing that you are, mate."

I was totally able to feel the sincerity in his voice, and I totally trust him and believe him.

He didn't say anything I didn't know about. I mean, even before I reached twenty-one, I was feeling a weird attraction to him, and it got stronger the day I shifted, which means when I reached my sixteen years.

Werewolves shifted for the first time at the age of sixteen, but they feel the bond for the first time at the age of twenty-one.

The moment Keyla, my brown crazy wolf came to life, me on her felt the instant bond towards both James, and Alan - his golden-brown wolf.

Everyone, including my mother, expected us to turn out as mates, and I was grateful to know that we are indeed.

Not wanting to pressure my mate for any longer, I decided to change the subject.

"Do you want to know for what reasons my fath… I mean, the Alpha wants us?"

A smile made its way toward James's face as he answered me.

"You know! It's okay to call him father. He is your father, after all."

"I know!" I nodded my head while walking by his side. "I just prefer the female beta better than the alpha's daughter."

He busted into laughter before he stated.

"That's weird! You know… You are wired… My weirdo!" He teased, and I didn't like it.

"I'm way pretty normal. I mean, what if I don't care about rankings? All that really matters is finding the one who rides or dies with you, not a mate that would make your rank higher."

He didn't say a word, and I took the hint to make myself quiet. It always ends in a fight whenever I speak further, after that he gets quiet.

In no time, we found ourselves standing on my father's office door. I busted the door open, not waiting for James to knock.

When we were inside, my eyes blew in happiness at the sight of my brother. He was finally back in the pack, and I couldn't hide how much I missed him.

I couldn't care about who was there, all I was seeing was my brother who was facing me with his back, meanwhile talking to my father.

I ran straight toward him and jumped on his back, as I've always done since I was young. Although we didn't share the same mother, we used to share a strong bond together, which is understandable. I mean, we share blood after all.

"Tristan!" I shouted near to his ear, which was really annoying. We wolves have strong senses. We can see, smell, and hear better than most of the living creatures on earth.

To scream near someone's ears is another level of hell.

Yes, I'm the type of annoying person. I enjoy making people around me feel annoyed by my childish acts. Well, not all people, only the ones I'm close to. Don't worry, they're not too many.

There's my father, also my brother. Both of them love me the way I am. They don't mind all my swings, ups and downs at all.

Not that the others don't love me, they just want to see me in a better way – like they like to say. Of course, I'm talking about my mate and mother.

Can't deny that I sometimes see through what they're saying. The thing is that I'm a high-ranking female, and my picture should represent my pack's members. I should act like a mature woman, even when I'm still young.

The average werewolf can live about two-three hundred years, an alpha line like me can get to the five hundred, and I'm merely twenty-two years.

Well, a sweet laugh echoed through my ears, followed by the voice of Tristan.

"Miss you kitten!"

"Don't call me that!" I shouted back to his tease," I'm a wolf." I told him with a proud tone. How can I not be proud of who I am, when my kind is one of the most divined kinds.

"My apologies, Wolfie… But would you like to leave my back? I don't know for how long I could carry that fat body of you before my back ends up broken."

Although I know that he's only teasing, for some unknown reasons, I always feel prey for his games.

"Did you just call me fat?"

I asked while leaving his back, only then that his face met mine.

"Did I lie?" He asked back, causing my father to cough. Only then did I notice that we weren't alone. Lady Celeste's gracious self was there. She was still looking like a teenage girl, her werewolf genes were quite magnificent. Her golden hair seemed like a stolen piece of the sun, her blue magnificent eyes looked like the missing piece of sky. Her pale skin glows like the snow of winter.

I don't know from where I'm getting this weird description.

Perhaps my love for nature is what keeps making me compare her that way. I do really like her and envy James for having her as a mother, she's the sweetest creature ever.

You might wonder where her mate is?

Well, that's a story for another time. He's much of living, but a life without dignity.

There was also my mother, who seemed a bit of not liking my previous actions, like always. The moment I spotted her, I changed my voice to be a bit softer than it normally is.

"Mother! I didn't see…" I started, and she interrupted me.

" … I saw you!" She spoke in a harsh way. I know she wasn't liking how I acted a while ago, but I couldn't help but to rejoice at the sight of my brother.

Before she could add a world, my father started.

"I'm stepping off my alpha position!" His declaration didn't get any of us shocked, I mean, we all sort of expected. "Tristan proved on more than one occasion that he was born to be an alpha, and it's his time to claim his right."

"Also…" My mother interrupted. "It's time for you to take a break, and enjoy your life."

Matter of fact, my mother wanted my father to get rid of his title a long time ago. Still, he never agreed to it, until recently. What's the reason for such a change in his mood? I have no idea.

Yet, I believe my mother has something to do with the entire situation.

"Anyway, you are both here since I want you both to be part of the preparation for the ceremony…" My father was directing his speech to both me and my mate.

"Ceremony?" I wondered, and my mother answered me.

" Yes, Tristan is going to receive the alpha title from your father in front of the entire pack. You know right after he'll be called alpha. Then, you both we'll be free to hold your mating ceremony after."

A wave of happiness waved inside my entire body upon hearing my father. I turned to face my mate in order to share the happiness I was feeling along with him.

Surprisingly, I came to notice that I was the only one feeling such happiness. I might be wrong, but James wasn't looking as happy as I expected...
