Ronan's POV

Night watch was the only time I could think clearly. Everyone else was sleeping, their troubles locked away in dreams. But not me. My demons liked to visit when the moon was high.

I rounded our camp for the third time, checking each shadow. The forest was too quiet. No owls. No bugs. Just the soft breathing of my companions and the odd snap of dying embers.

Sienna slept closest to the fire, her red hair spilled across her blanket like blood. I pushed that thought away. She looked peaceful now, but I knew the weight she carried. The Midnight Queen. The fallen court. Kieran's change. Zeke's capture.

And Caius—the vampire prince was still healing from whatever the Queen had done to his blood. He lay absolutely still at the edge of camp, looking more dead than usual.

"Anything?" Isa appeared beside me, her witch's cloak making her mix with the night.

"Too much nothing," I grumbled. "No animal soun

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Witch's Warning

Isolde's POVI woke before dawn with a scream stuck in my throat. The air felt wrong—heavy with magic that didn't fit. I sat up from my sleeping spot at the back of the cave, my fingers buzzing with warning magic.Something was coming. Something bad.I looked around at our broken group. Zeke lay near death, his chest barely rising. Caius sat in silent guard by the cave opening, his vampire eyes gleaming in the darkness. Ronan was missing—probably checking the perimeter again. And Sienna...My heart stopped. Sienna's resting spot was empty, blood staining the ground where she should be."Caius," I whispered quickly. "Where's Sienna?"The vampire prince turned, alarm flashing across his normally calm face. "She was sleeping just—"A scream cut through the night, coming from outside the cave. We both moved at once, Caius with his supernatural speed and me with my witch's sense. The scene ou

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Ruby Dreams

Sienna's POVI couldn't stop Zeke's blood from soaking my hands. One moment he was telling us about a traitor, and the next, an arrow pierced his chest. As Ronan ran after the shooter, I held my brother, begging him not to leave me again."Don't cry, little flame," he whispered, using my childhood nickname. "This isn't the end."Those were his last words before his eyes closed. Isa worked her healing magic while Caius used his vampire speed to find bandages. But I knew the truth. The arrow had been meant to kill, not hurt."He's still breathing," Isa said. "But barely. We need to get him somewhere safe."Everything after that became a blur. We moved deeper into the woods, found a cave, and made a secret camp. Ronan returned with news that the shooter had disappeared without a trace. Through it all, I couldn't shake the feeling that I should have done more. Been stronger. Protected my brother better. When

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Vampire Court

Caius's POVBlood doesn't lie. That's the first rule every vampire learns.I sat alone at the edge of camp, far enough away that the wolves wouldn't smell what I was doing. The small silver bowl in my hands caught the moonlight as I pricked my finger and let three drops of blood fall into the clear water."Show me," I whispered. The water turned red, then black, then cleared to show the grand hall of my court. My chair sat empty, but not for long if my plans worked out. Around the onyx table sat my most trusted advisors—or so I had believed."The prince is weak," Lady Sylvia was saying, her pale face twisted with scorn. "He chases a wolf girl while the court crumbles."My jaw tightened. Sylvia had been my father's favorite. I should have known she would betray me."The Midnight Queen offers us protection," Lord Damon added. "All she asks is that we help her capture the Ruby Wolf.""And w

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Blood Brothers

Zeke's POVI woke up screaming again. The blood from the vampires burned like fire through my veins. I sucked on my sleeve to block out the noise. Around them, everyone else was still sleeping, and I didn't want to wake them up. Certainly not Sienna. My sister already had a lot to worry about. My sister. Still, those words made me feel weird. For years, the Midnight Queen had told me Sienna was my enemy. That she would destroy everything if she lived. All lies.I climbed out of our camp and leaned against a tree. The moon shone through the trees, almost full. It was almost time for the Blood Moon—the real one, not the one the Queen made up.I held up my hand in the moonlight. My face looked normal, but I could feel the changes inside me. The vampire blood Caius had given me to save my life was doing... something. Changing me."Can't sleep?"I jumped. Ronan stood a few feet away, his face half in

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Hunters Pursuit

Midnight Queen's POVI felt the moment Darius died. His betrayal burned through our link like acid, making me scream in rage. The mirrors in my room shattered. The black candles melted in seconds. Even my shadow dogs cowered in the corners."My Queen?" General Vex stood in the doorway, his scarred face pale. "What happened?"I composed myself, smoothing down my midnight gown. "Darius is dead. And he has betrayed us.""Impossible. He was your most loyal—""Silence!" I hissed, my voice booming with power. "Never speak of loyalty to me again."I crossed to the great window of my tower. Below, the Syndicate compound buzzed with activity as my men prepared for war. Beyond them, the fake Blood Moon already turned the sky red. My work. My signal."Bring me Isa's apprentice," I ordered.Vex bowed and left. Moments later, he returned with a trembling girl. Maya—Isa's most potential student before

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Forest Whispers

Isolde's POVThe moon hung like a silver eye between the trees as I led our strange group deeper into the Whispering Woods. Behind me, Sienna stumbled along, still weak from her vision at the altar. The vampire prince, Caius, watched her with hungry eyes. Kieran prowled at the edges, angry and betrayed. And Ronan—he stayed closest to Sienna, memories returning like birds to a nest. They didn't trust me. I couldn't blame them."We need to stop," I stated, pointing to a small clearing ahead. "I need to perform the hiding ritual again before the Syndicate trackers find our trail.""Again?" Kieran growled. "The last one barely worked. We still had to fight off those shadow wolves."I turned to face him. "Would you rather I did nothing, Alpha? The Queen has eyes everywhere. Even the trees whisper to her."As if to make my point, the leaves rustled though there was no wind.Sienna stepped forward, her

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   The Journey Begins

Sienna's POVThe forest path felt different under my feet today. Not just because we were going to the Third Trial, but because everything had changed since Darius died."You okay?" Ronan asked, walking close beside me. His voice made something stir in my mind—like trying to remember a song I used to know."I'm fine," I lied. Nothing was great.Behind us, Kieran walked alone, his face dark with anger. He hadn't spoken since we left camp this morning. I knew why. Every time he looked at me, he saw the curse that wasn't really his."He'll come around," Ronan said quietly, following my eyes."Will he? His Beta betrayed him. The curse he thought was his fate turns out to be someone else's magic." I kicked a stone off the road. "And now he has to protect me because of some stupid prophecy he never asked for."Ronan's hand brushed mine. Just a touch, but it felt like electricity."Some memorie

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   The Fallen Betrayer

Darius's POVI didn't make it far from the house. My scars were too deep, my strength fading too fast. The clearing where I fell was peaceful at least—a small mercy as I lay dying.Blood soaked through my shirt where the Queen had stabbed me. Her leaving gift when she realized I was going to warn them."You'll die slowly," she had promised, turning the blade. "Long enough to feel every second of your betrayal."She was right about that. Each breath hurt worse than the last.I dragged myself to the base of an old oak tree. Funny how beautiful everything looked when you knew you wouldn't see it again. The leaves above me danced in the wind. The sky was darkening unnaturally—the Queen's fake Blood Moon coming early.I had played my part. Warned Kieran and the others. Maybe that would make up for some of what I'd done. Not all of it, though. Nothing could erase those mistakes."Well, well. T
