Alexa was in a daze, not knowing how Mercedes could intercept her magic. After all, she was just a human, so how was she doing that? Felix, Jake, and Crystal. We're confused and waiting for Alexa to tell them what happened. Mercedes was as confused as the rest of them. She was just staring at Alexa weirdly.
" What is it, Alexa? What happened?" Felix asked, approaching her. Alexa shook her head and placed her fingers on Mercedes again. This time she used maximum power to see if she would be able to block that too. Mercedes gasped and started convulsing and elevated. Her eyes were wide and her mouth agaped as Alexa's magic navigated her mind. Alexa was once again unable to penetrate her mind enough to erase her memories. She retracted her power and Mercedes slowly calmed down and fell on the floor. Crystal panicked and ran to her and kneeled in front of her. She gently placed her head in her lap and caressed her hair and face. " Mercedes wake up!" she exclaimed, tapping lightly on her face. She kept doing that and calling out her name but nothing helped. " Jake! Help me pick her up!" He obliged and carried her to the couch. Alexa was shocked to the core. She still could not come to terms with the fact that a human could intercept her magic. It has never happened before and not many species could do that unless there was something special about them. Maybe her power was acting up and it was not Mercedes. Felix roughly grabbed Alexa's arm and turned her to face him. " What the hell was that Alexa? I told you to erase some of her memories, not to fry her brains!" he growled at her. Alexa yanked her arm away from Felix with an equally annoyed expression. " I didn't fry her brain. Instead, she fought off my powers! I couldn't erase her memories, okay! I couldn't! She is fine and nothing happened to her, but my magic is acting up!" she yelled in frustration. " What do you mean you couldn't? What are you talking about?" " I mean just what I said. I couldn't erase her memory!" Alexa pulled out the chair and plopped on it. Crystal sat on the couch worried about Mercedes. She was glad that Alexa could not erase her memories. This meant that their friendship had a chance. She knew for a fact that if Alexa couldn't make her forget all about them, then Felix would not let her go. It sounds selfish, but earlier that day she had a feeling that Mercedes felt the same way. She, too, didn't want to leave and perhaps that is why she fought for Alexa's compulsion. " So what now Alpha? Alexa can't do anything, so what of the girl?" Jake asked the million-dollar question. Felix didn't know what to do, but it was obvious that he could not risk his pack by letting her go. Now she had to stay until they could figure something out. " She'll stay in the packhouse. Get Rosita to help her settle in one of the unoccupied rooms. But I'll have you to keep a keen eye on her and make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. I'm giving you this responsibility, Crystal. If she does anything stupid, I will lock her up in the dungeons for the rest of her life." " Yes, Alpha. Thank you for letting her stay. And I will take care of her." She gestured to Jake to once again help her carry Mercedes. They went to the guest room and laid her down. The pack helper, Rosita, went inside with the lemon juice that Alpha requested from Mercedes. Crystal took it and helped Mercedes drink it up, and she became conscious in the process. She was panicked, but Crystal held her down so she calmed down. " Ssh, I am right here." Mercedes settles down after seeing Crystal with her. Her head was hurting, and she groaned in pain and held her head in her hands. " It hurt!" she cried out in pain. She felt like her head would explode at any minute. She began thrashing and Crystal moved out of the way so she would not mistakenly hurt her. Crystal was perplexed by her condition. She did not understand what was wrong with her. " Jake! Go and get Alexa here!" He didn't need to be told twice. He ran back to the office. " Alexa! She is awake and experiencing severe pain in her head. Come now." Alexa jumped out of her seat and Felix followed behind. When they got there, they saw Mercedes in a bad condition and sweating. " Help her Alexa! She is burning up. At this rate, she will die!" Crystal cried out anxiously. Alexa went to Mercedes's bedside and placed her palm on her forehead. She sensed that some of her power was left in her head and she was still trying to fight it. Alexa closed her eyes and pulled it out until she was clear again. She keeps surprising her. She is strong enough to fight her power and she survived the attack of the power that was left inside of her head. She should have died in seconds, but she was still alive. There was no explanation of what she could be other than a human, because she could not sense anything else. Crystal sighed in relief. She was so scared that something would happen to her. Felix was in a fix, but it seemed like he had no other choice than to let a human stay in his pack. He did not like it one bit but the risk of her leaving with what she knew was too high. While she is there, he can keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. He was worried more about his pack members. Some of them were irritable at the sight of humans. If Mercedes were to do something wrong, they would rip her apart without a second thought. It meant he had to address everyone, not to get worked up by her presence. And as soon as they figure out what is going on, they will get rid of her. He hoped it was sooner rather than later.Mercedes sat still on the chair without moving. After she left the academy that night, she did everything she was told. She arrived at the buttom of the mountain and waited by the road side. Mercedes thought she was going to be fetched by a car. She got there on the time that was agreed on. Mercedes stood there looking around as cars passed by her. It was past midnight but the road was still busy. While waiting and her focus on the cars driving by trying to spot the one that was coming to get her, she failed to notice that someone was approaching behind her. When she noticed, it was too late. The person behind her pushed her into the road. She lost her balance and fell. She was so shocked that she didn't know what to do to save herself. Mercedes closed her eyes ready to embrace her fall but to her supprise, she didn't hit the floor. She was still falling. Mercedes opened her eyes and realise that she was inside a portal. She fell into a portal? Drakoen's men were responsible for tha
" What did you just say to me?" " You heard me right, Felix. She is gone. Drakoen managed to lure her to him. I don't know where she is. All she did was leave this letter for me to find." Alexa handed the letter Mercedes left over to Felix who snatched it out of her hand. Felix arrived a few moments ago to meet Alexa and Mercedes. He didn't know that he was already too late. Her quickly read it and his expression darkened. The letter slipped out her his hand. He coudknt believe that he had lost his family yet again. Feeling defeated her sat on the chair. " I am sorry, Felix. I know that there is nothing I can say that will make this better but now is not the time to lose hope. Mercedes and Horace need us." Tears started coming of Felix's eyes. He couldn't stop them. He has remained strong for far too long and he couldn't take it anymore. How much longer must he suffer? Why him? It felt like the Gods had it out for him. No one else was going through so much trials and trib
The next day, Alexa went into Mercedes's room to check on her only to find that she was long gone. Her bed was made and if was cold showing that she didn't sleep on it. What she was afraid of happened. Mercedes gave in to the pressure. She couldn't even blame her. If she was in her shoes, she probably would have done what she did as well. Alexa had the letter that Mercedes left in her hands. She opened the letter to read it. " By the time you read this letter, I will be long gone. I'm going to find my son. I know that I'm not doing the right thing and I am probably falling for a trap but it doesn't matter to me. Right now, Horace is the one who matters the most to me and if there is a way that I can get to him, I will take it. Don't try to look for me. If you do, Horace will be in danger. I will try my best to make it out of there along with Horace. Please wait for me. Take care." Alexa put the letter back on the bed. Just like that, Mercedes has made her choice. There was not
As she suspected, Mercedes finally got word. Someone from Drakoen 's circle reached out to him. They sent a message. A messenger bird came through to her window with a note. She took it from the bird with trembling hands and unfolded it to read. On the note it was written, ' Your boy is with us. If you want to see him again, you will have to do as I say. No tricks allowed. If you do anything that I didn't tell you then you will never see your son alive again. The next time you ever lay your eyes on him he will be nothing but a lifeless corpse. If you don't act smart and just do as instructed then everything will be fine. I hope you know that this is not a threat, it a promise.' Those words were accompanied by a picture of Horace seating in a cage. She put her hand on hef mouth to muffle her cries. Her devastation knew no bounds. The letter in her hand got crumpled. Her son was being treated like an animal. She couldn't believe their audacity to do that to her son. Her precious son
Drakoen looked at the child that was brought to him with a look of disdain in his eyes. The son of his enemy. Everything in him fought not to squash him under his feet and be done with him. No matter how he felt about him, he couldn't do as he wished because he was important for his plans. He had him placed in a cage in the middle of the room. Not long ago, he was crying his head out. Drakoen just watched him without attempting to get him to stop. His cries sounded like music to his ears. Seeing that nobody was paying attention to him, Horace calmed down on his own. Now he was mumbling and paying by himself. He couldn't believe that he was supposed to be his next vessel. He was not enthusiastic about the idea but it was all he had. He turned away from him. As long as he was with him, he now had the game in his control. He could have reached out to Mercedes as soon as Horace arrived but he stayed quiet on purpose. He wanted to torture her and give her a taste of her own Medicine. Too
Felix didn't have the courage to face Mercedes. He could only imagine what she was going through. He was pretty shaken up as well. He spent the whole day doing nothing after sending a squad to try and find clues that could help with finding Horace. He sat in his room in darkness. He could not sleep nor eat. He lost control earlier with the help when she tried to get him to eat. It was the first time he had lashed out on someone like that, he immediately felt bad. He just couldn't help it. He wanted to be left alone to his thoughts. The squad he sent out came back with nothing. Not even a small clue that could help lead to Horace. The pack was mourning the loved ones they lost. Felix couldn't bring himself to face anyone so he requested Jake to handle everything in his place. He was not in the right state ofind to help them with anything. Since the situation with Drakoen began, he had felt that he was on the losing end of things already. There has not been a moment of piece. Everythi
