As I lay on the bed, the door opened, and Fabian entered with a faint smile on his face. I could sense his worry, but he was trying to conceal it from me.

"Fabian," I called, quickly throwing off the duvet and sitting up.

"Good morning, Timbre. How are you today?" he asked, widening his smile.

"I think I'm okay. How about you? You don't seem okay," I replied, holding his face in my hands and looking at him with concern.

"I spoke to Xavier again and tried to persuade him to release you, but he remained firm in his decision. He won't let you go, Timbre," he responded, his eyes filled with sadness as he spoke.

I sighed and nodded. "I had a feeling something like this would happen. He doesn't strike me as someone who would backtrack on his words. You don't have to be sad about it. You've done your best to help me, and I appreciate that," I retorted, making him shake his head in disagreement.

He gently removed my hands from his face and walked toward the window.
