Lucian

They circled me and raised their blades in unison. I took cover, shielding my head with my hands, and hoping for the worst—the end to this mysterious trance. Normally I would fight. I would slit their throats one after the other without thinking twice.

Although, it’s not that I couldn’t. My brain wants to fight, I want to shred their flesh along with the fabrics of their robes, but something is stopping me. It isn’t fear or the sadness of my situation. It was something entirely different—a powerful aura.

As I covered my head, waiting for what seemed inevitable, I couldn’t help but notice something. It was glowing faintly far away in the distance, dwelling under the cover of the darkness. There was a pair of eyes—animalistic ones—glowing brightly in red as each second passed, and they were locked on me. The seemingly terrifying gaze wasn’t focused on the ones halfway from drawing blood from my skin.

It focused on me.

Slow and cautiously, I start to let my arms fall. It was n

LucianThe elders approach us in an unexpectedly calm manner. That was an odd reaction to the blood covering my legs, and also my slightly bruised face. Even if they don’t recognize these things, the view before them should be an obvious sign that something is wrong. Nadia still had the blood-coated dagger in her grasp as she approached them like she was reuniting with an old family. I am sitting in a wheelchair, and my elder looked as unfazed as anything. For some reason, I’m not too surprised. I kind of expected something like this to happen, just not too soon. Not now when my Luna and unborn child are endangered out there. Gareth doesn’t react to the situation like I did. The gasp that escaped him is audible as we both watch Nadia lean close to elder Balad and whispers something in his ear. Balad. Fury coursed through my vein, but the effects of the wolfsbane was stronger and it kept me in place, prohibiting me from lunging at them. Their spineless alliance is what annoyed me

Lucian“You should have just stayed down,” Nadia says, twirling the dagger between her fingers as though it were a toy. “Now look at what you have done to yourself. What you have done to your poor Alpha.”For a moment, I wondered what she meant by her last words. But she made me understand by stabbing the blade into my thigh. A grunt escaped me. It should have been a scream or cry of pain, but I wasn’t going to give her the pleasure. Blinding pain tore through me, and I was forced to sink back into the wheelchair. My thigh throbbed as a painful heat coursed through it. I gritted my teeth, trying to endure the pain, but just then, Nadia violently yanked the blade from my skin. Another groan was forced out of me . She casually walks over to Gareth, crouching at his side like she had all the time in the world. Like she wasn't bothered in the slightest that someone might catch her in the middle of torturing the Alpha of silver fang and his beta. Gareth was on both knees, clutching his

LucianI should feel relieved that Gareth recognized me. I should be glad that I’d be saved. But instead, something dark settled, tightening my chest and threatening to seize my breath from my lungs. Fear. The temperature of the air suddenly dropped. And despite the heat from the blanket, a chill settled into the deepest parts of my bones. But I wasn’t scared of my own life. My heart clenched for the safety of my beta. Other than the terrifying revelation that I experienced during my trance, the last time I had ever experienced fear was as a pup. Fear doesn’t bother me. As I have grown to understand under the training of my father that fear is a trait for the weak. That wasn’t me. I’m not a weakling. My jaw clenched as I fought against the effects of the poison. My hands trembled from beside me as I forced myself to lift them. My weak muscles responded to the fact that I’ve now sealed off my mind. “I ... .am..n..ot……we..a….k,” I managed to mumble as I gripped the armrest of the

LucianNadia had this planned for a long time. It was obvious from the precision of what they did. The way she barked orders and controlled Quade like a puppet made me want to rip her head from her body. But then again, all I could do was glare as my body was being moved like a vegetable. Quade reached under my armpits, lifted my upper body and dragged my body to the door. The rough ground scratched against my bare back, ripping my skin like soft fabric. It takes strength for me to even let out a wince. On a normal day, I won’t feel something as minor as this—I’ve survived far worse—but then again, the poison had sunk so deep into my bloodstream that little pains like that felt like a critical attack. My breathing was gradually starting to shorten. My lungs felt like they were shrinking. No, they were actually shrinking with my throat burning with the thirst for something I couldn’t quite place. My lips were slightly parted as I now did my breathing through them. My eyelids ached

LucianMy vision was blurry at first before I was greeted with the view of where I was. My eyelids were lazy, barely opening fully as I scanned my surroundings. My limbs felt lifeless, and they seemed to be held up. The coldness biting against my wrist made me realize I was chained upwards. Even though pain tore through me, I had no other option but to rely on the chains to keep my balance. My legs could barely stand on their own. I wobbled, staggered and fell back into the hold of the chains. It felt as if every muscle in my body had gone on holiday. My senses are on vacation. And my dignity? Well, that seemed to be out of reach. My chest twisted with pain, but not the pain of the tight chains around my wrist or the intense burning effect of the wolfsbane under my skin. It was something else—the pain of failing. How much more do I have to fail my Luna? How much more do I have to fail my pack members? The muscles in my face were weak as well. I couldn’t even frown at the reflectio

LucianThe shadows around Azael rippled like water, folding in and over themselves until they peeled away from his frame. The huge figure that stood tall and beastly gradually shrank. Flesh replaced the darkness. I watched closely as fur dissolved, bones shifted, and a young man stepped forward—my son. He had my eyes. Fiona’s jawline. And his hair cascades down his forehead like fine silk. There was no doubt he had striking similarities to me and Fiona. But however, something else stood in his stance—an unshakable authority—as if the weight of the cruel world had been resting on his shoulders for years. My eyes scanned his entire body. He was slightly taller than me, endowed with a physique that made me question if I was even ever in shape. Thick veins traced in different lines and patterns, covering the essential parts of his arms. He is my son, and this was just a trance I would eventually wake from. But for some unknown reason, my heart nearly skipped a beat. The overwhelming po
