** Paige’s POV **

I sit in silence as the weight of this entire insane new world bears down on me. I can still feel their eyes on me, like they’re waiting for me to do something. For what I don’t know. For me to scream?… To cry?… To run?

I don’t do any of those things. I can’t. Instead, I just breathe slow shaky breaths.

In and out. In and out.

Because the truth is echoing in my head now, and it’s louder than my fear, louder than my pride. Jaxon belongs here. Not in a city. Not in some clinical school with fluorescent lights, plastic playground toys and fragile humans. He belongs here, in the woods, with his pack. With them. Which means I have to stay here too.

“So what happens now?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

“We take it one day at a time. No pressure. No weird rituals or howling at the moon,” Callen says, a little humour in his tone.

“You’re not helping,” Ryder snorts, and I look up just in time to catch a flicker of a smile as he looks at Call

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 35

** Paige’s POV **The knock on the door is urgent. I’m already on my feet before it comes a second time, with my heart hammering so hard I can feel it in my throat.I peek through the spy hole and then wrench the door open to find Parker standing there, dried blood crusted down one side of his face.“Oh my god,” I gasp, reaching out to touch his face without thinking. “Are you okay?”Parker closes his eyes at my touch and nods, cupping his hand over mine.“The others?” I ask, afraid to hear his answer.“They’re okay,” Parker says quickly, his voice low. “Callen’s in a bad way, but alive.”My knees almost give out. Parker’s hands land on my hips to steady me and I grip the doorframe to stay upright, the wave of relief crashing over me so fast it makes my eyes sting.“Come on,” he urges. “We’re getting Regina and the kids. Ryder wants you and Jaxon at our place. Under protection.”“Okay,” I nod. “But let me get you a cloth first. You’ll scare the kids turning up like that.”I rush i

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 34

** Ryder’s POV **I don’t want to let go of Paige’s hand. It feels perfect in mine. Like it should always be there.Today has been one of the best days of my life, actually… it’s the best yet.Waking up with my beautiful mate’s body next to mine. Then a wonderful morning with my son, whose laughter lights up my life in a way I can’t describe. Followed by an afternoon alone with Paige. It’s been perfect. They’re perfect. We walk up the path to her house and I slow my pace, wanting to squeeze every last second out of this time with her. We reach the door far too soon. I’m still not ready to let her go. I know the minute we go back in there, her brain will go into overdrive again.I’ve watched her struggle to navigate the pull of the bond all morning. Her mind and emotions are all over the place and I wish I knew what to say to make it easier for her.Paige stands in front of me, one hand still gripping mine, the other on the door handle. She’s flushed from the heat, her hair a littl

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 33

** Callen’s POV **I let out a sharp whistle, and the kids freeze mid-sprint like someone hit pause. A couple of them groan, and a few flop dramatically into the grass, and one tiny omega throws his arms up and yells, “We demand extra time!”I grin, shaking my head. “You demand nothing, Greyson. You barely ran the last round.”Greyson pouts and then gives me a cheeky salute before dropping into the grass beside his friends. I make a mental note to tell his parents he’s got potential beta energy. A smart mouth and a big heart.“Alright, pack it up,” I call. “Grab your water bottles and cool down. Then whoever’s still got energy left can help me carry the cones back.”A chorus of groans follows, but they obey, scattering to grab their drinks. Little Jax comes to stand beside me, watching the others, studying them. He’s already so full of alpha energy. I put my hand on his head and ruffle his hair.“Did you enjoy that?” I ask.“Yes! Can we play some more later?”I hesitate. With how Paige

** Paige’s POV **Parker’s words soothe something inside me.I nod slowly, blinking back the tears behind my eyes. “I don’t even know where to start.”“Then don’t.” Parker’s voice is calm, solid. “Start later. Right now, just be here.”I glance toward the living room. Jaxon’s laughter floats out, and Ryder’s amused voice follows. That should be enough for me. It is enough, but then I glance back at Parker, and there’s this current between us. A quiet hum. Not loud or overwhelming like it is with Callen or Ryder, but it’s no less real.“You have this way of saying the right thing,” I murmur, part accusing, but mostly grateful. He shrugs. “Comes with the territory.”“What territory is that?” I ask, my voice soft. His eyes linger on mine a little too long. “The one where I care.”It’s too much. I look away. I can’t do this. I can’t. But that warmth in my chest says otherwise. That flutter of recognition I’ve felt around all of them that speaks of something more.I turn back to the co

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 31

** Paige’s POV **I don’t remember most of the walk home.Ryder had shown Jax interesting things in the woods. A rabbit burrow and mushrooms that he should never touch, while Jaxon chattered about his bath toys and how many trucks he can fit in his backpack. I had barely taken half their conversations in because my head was somewhere else entirely.Somewhere between Callen and Remy. It’s replaying the way Remy tilted his face to the sun and let himself be kissed like it was the only thing keeping him alive.I swallow down the lump in my throat as we walk up the path to my door. The house looks the same, small and warm and familiar, but today it feels like a hiding place. Or a cage… maybe both.Jaxon bolts inside as soon as I unlock the door, flinging his shoes off and yelling, “I’m getting the red truck!” over his shoulder. Ryder follows him in with a laugh, and I trail after, slower.I should feel comfortable here. This is my space. But it’s not the escape I’d thought, because I

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 30

** Paige’s POV ** I stand at the bedroom window, frozen. I hadn’t meant to watch. I’d just wanted to look out at the trees. To look at anything that might slow the spin in my head after everything that’s happened. Instead, I saw them. Callen and Remy. Kissing… still kissing. It’s not just any kiss. It’s a claim. An unspoken promise that I swear I can hear from here. My stomach flips, confusion and something else twisting through me. I don’t look away. I can’t, because this… this changes everything. I should look away. I should. But I don’t. My hand grips the window frame so hard my knuckles ache, but I don’t move. I just watch. Callen’s pressed against Remy like he’s trying to become part of him, his body firm, claiming and dominant, just like he had been with me last night. Remy’s not pushing him away. He’s not angry. He’s melting. Letting himself be kissed like he’s waited a lifetime for it. Like this is the first time he’s allowed himself to
