Love is stupid

Third-person POV

Kaylee walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. Her pace was steady as she watched other ladies leave adjacent rooms as well, their once perfectly made hair was in disarray. Some tried straightening the strands out while others wore theirs with pride.

Getting to the changing room, staring at her reflection in the mirror, her hands lay on the dressing table assigned to her. "How was it? What's his story?" Kaylee turned to find Ashley staring at her. Her blond friend had also just finished with a client. Judging from her disheveled hair, it was a wild one.

"Same old. He was left at the altar or something but it was definitely about a fiancee." Kaylee took off the robe she had pulled on at the door of the room she had with the client. She stood fully naked in front of her friend who was used to it.

"Why? What was his fetish?" Ashley asked, her eyes big and wide as she waited for Kaylee to speak.

"A garter."

Ashley's head tilted in confusion. "A garter? But that's not a request. You wear it all the time."

Kaylee took off her mask, dumping it in a corner, she said, "exactly my point. He must be one of those faithful guys and now that he's heartbroken, he wants to sleep with every woman he possibly can to forget about her." Her hands wound up on her waist as she turned her full attention to her friend.

She scoffed. "Cliche."

Kaylee picked up a used skirt, judging from the semen stains on it. She quickly discarded it in the washer next to her dresser. "What about you? How was your client?" She pulled a dress from nearby and put it on.

"The usual, broken marriage and wants a lady to have sex with from time to time." Her statement has Kaylee rolling her eyes in disgust.

"Why not get a divorce if you are so unhappy? Honestly, It's not that big of a deal," Kaylee said with wonder.

Ashley shook her head, not ready to defend them but not taking their side either. "They do it for their kids. It doesn't make it right but I get where they are coming from."

Kaylee immediately dropped the topic as she felt the change in the air. She was bringing back a sore topic for Ashley and from the look on her friend's face, she was reminiscing, recalling the old days when her life was still good till the accident that occurred which could have easily been avoided if her parents had just tried harder.

Kaylee wrapped her arms around Ashley, pulling her out of her deep thoughts. "Let's go have dinner. It's our break after all."

Ashley's eyes were in a frantic search."Sure, where's McKenna?" Her eyes continued looking around the room but she didn't catch a glimpse of her brunette friend. "She didn't show up for work?" She asked Kaylee

"Oh dear," Kaylee said in an exasperated voice as she threw her short arms over her friend's shoulder. "That roommate of mine is having boy troubles again." She threw Ash a knowing look.

"Yikes." That was the response she got. "She broke up with Nate again?" She asked though she already knew the answer.

Kaylee nodded and motioned for them to begin heading to the restaurant so as not to be late.

"Was she crying when you left?" They continued their conversation outside the four walls of the brothel. They earned disgusted glances from passersby when they walked out the front door. They paid no heed as they have already gotten used to it

"You know it. Honestly, I don't know why she bothers." Kaylee said, already giving up on her roommate.

"She doesn't want to quit the whorehouse but wants a stable relationship. Isn't that crazy." Kaylee laughed out loud causing Ash to push her slightly.

"You are one to talk, you have a boyfriend who loves you and a sugar daddy who tends to your every need." Ashley voiced out. Kaylee sensed a little jealousy in her tone but pushed it back.

Kaylee shrugged. "Doesn't mean anything. I just keep him around because he knows how to satisfy me."

"But he loves you and deep down, you've already grown feelings for him. You know it." Ashley teased her friend who tried to hide her blush by running her fingers through her hair to cover her face.

Kaylee thought of a counter-attack, "You are not so innocent either." She waved her forefinger in Ash's face."Aren't you in a relationship as well?"

Pushing her fingers down her jacket to warm them from the cold, she scoffed, "if you can call it that. Sleeping with one's boss who is already married isn't what I'll call a relationship."

"At least you've got somebody. Look at McKenna, she's always in a new relationship but you've got a stable one. Be proud of it." Kaylee tried cheering her up.

"Enough about Kenna. I have to face her tomorrow and I don't know what to say to her." Kaylee rubbed her forehead, trying to suppress the headache that was coming.

Ashley stopped in her track, she sighted the restaurant a few blocks away but she had to inquire."Tomorrow? All night shift? Yikes!" She answered her question.

Kaylee simply nodded. "Plus, it's a Friday. You know how it is." Her eyes looked so pitiful.

"Sorry baby." Ashley hugged her from behind. "You are going to have to deal with drunks, group sex, and all that." They both stared into the horizon, imagining Kaylee's eventful night to come when a shiver ran down Kaylee's spine and she quickly shook it off.

"Let's just eat, I'm starving-

Ash cut her off." Plus, you have to fill this up," she patted down on her tummy. "You have a long night ahead of you." She teased.

"Stop it. I won't go easy on you when it's your turn. You know how you get." Kaylee tried to tease but Ash saw it coming.

"At least it's not tonight." She stuck out her tongue at Kaylee who tried pinching it out. She earned a scream from Ash who began running from her friend's strangely powerful hands.

Kaylee ran after her. "Come back here."
