Jasmine took some cotton buds and started rubbing off the eye shadows lightly making sure not to rub it off completely. She then took a tissue paper and pressed it on Alice's lips to lighten the shine.
"Okay this seems... better, see," Jasmine said to Alice pointing towards the mirror in front.
"Thank you Jazz, even I feel better," she smiled and pressed Jasmine's hand lightly thanking her.
"No make-up would have also done the work you know. Or did you want to impress anyone?" Jasmine said in a teasing tone.
"Huh?" Alice was taken back by the question. "No," she replied, more like stated.
Jasmine felt like she might have crossed the limit. "Okay we got to go now, Stefen must be on his way here," she brought up another subject.
They both stood on the spot where Jasmine always stood for Stefen to come and pick her up every morning.
After few minutes Stefen arrived and opened the door for the ladies. Jasmine sat on the passenger's side as always and Alice sat on the back seat.
Stefen was wearing a loose white t-shirt, black pants and a black outer that suited his perfect biceps making it hard for Jasmine to look anywhere else but there. He was looking exceptionally good looking. He did look handsome in his usual shirt and well ironed pants that were his office uniform but today he was looking hard to resist.
As they were on their way to Jack's, Jasmine stole glances of Stefen whenever she could. Isn't this guy just perfect? Look at those deep blue eyes and those perfectly pointed nose and those juicy lips. Wait what? Jasmine stopped her thoughts. Jazz when did you become like this? Come back to Earth now. She shook her head from left to right and vice versa trying to drive her mind away form those thoughts..
"Are you okay? Is there something wrong?" Stefen spoke as he saw her move her head all of a sudden.
"Oh no, I was just trying to remove this strand of hair." Jasmine immediately replied with whatever popped out of her brain and gave a weak smile. Stupid.
"That's not a problem." He lifted his hand near Jasmine's face holding the strand of hair she was complaining about and rested it behind her ear and swiftly diverted his attention back on the road as if that was his daily business.
This tingling sensation again. What's wrong with you Jazz? Why is his touch affecting you so much? Is it even normal to feel this way? Jasmine went back to her thought zone.
Alice however chose to remain silent the whole way. Her heart did ache witnessing the movements around her, but she was in no position to question it or even speak few sentences out.
They reached after a good 35 minutes ride. Jack's apartment was huge for a single person to be living in. After all his dad was also a successful businessman and a very dear friend of Mr. William Wills. Hence, the friendship between fathers was what made Jack and Stefen's friendship possible. Jack was a rich kiddo after all clearing all the doubts of how he could afford such expensive apartment without any room- mates. His apartment appeared to be clean and well managed unlike his jovial and mischievous character.
Him studying management was a good thing at least in this case. Jasmine murmured.
"Hello beauties and one pig wearing a white t-shirt," Jack said with a smile as he approached them for a hug and Stefen ignored his comment as usual hugging him back.
Seriously Jack, Pig? You've got to have your eyes checked once you're done with your mental issues. Jasmine's inner thoughts were ready to murder Jack.
"Hey Jack, you look..." Jasmine looked Jack from up and down noting his looks "...a lot better than Stefen, but why is it taking so long for you to evolve into a human-being?" Jazz replied giving the same smile that Jack had when he commented on Stefen's look. Stefen and Alice burst into a huge laughter as they were enjoying the scene.
"Hmm, Stefen's got a person to protect him." Jack raised his hands in surrender.
"I'm not protecting him, I'm merely blurting out the truth that you're having difficulty in handling."
"Yeah right, I'll remember this insult Jazz," he said faking anger in his voice. "Anyway come I'll introduce you to some of our high- school and uni friends. Alice and Stefen are already familiar with them."
"Let's go then."
Jack started the introduction section. She didn't think there would be so many people invited in this fake party of his. But to her surprise, the party was huge than it should've been. Delicious food, a bar in one corner and lots of good-looking girls and boys.
I've got to admit one thing; wherever Jack, Alice and Stefen studied they had a lot of good-looking guys there. Jasmine thought as she looked around. But another fact to be noted, no one was better than Stefen.
There was something about the way Stefen carried himself that made him stand out. Jasmine couldn't help but steal glances of Stefen every now and then no matter where she stood or who she was talking to.
"And they were the queen-bee of our batch, she is Emily, she is Brianne, she is Shaina and this," he paused. "This is Alison," Jack said as he brought Jasmine to meet a group of girls who looked more like they were in rush and forgot to put on the remaining of their cloths.
"Were? Jack seriously, we are always going to be the queen," a girl who was a bit more beautiful or let's say had a bit more make up than the rest of them spoke in a flirtatious way, believing her fake accent was unnoticeable. Jasmine rolled her eyes in her head.
Where did you buy that accent from girl?.. The Fish market? Jasmine imitated Alison's accent in her head and laughed thinking of her own thoughts. There was someone who had a more amount of self-obsession than she did.
"And ladies she is Jasmine, she is also an intern in the company..."
"Hi girls," Jasmine said forcing a smile and greeted them all at once since she had already forgotten which name belonged to whom.
"Hey Jasmine, are you going shopping?" the blonde who had the wittiest smile and of course her accent that she bought for $2 from the fist market spoke pointing at Jasmine's dress and her soldiers laughed behind her.
"I don't know about shopping but I'm definitely not going to a beach and it's definitely not hot in here," Jasmine instantly replied as she moved her eyes up and down pointing towards their dress.
"You bi..."
Hey Jack, You are reading this letter, meaning I am not around you anymore. It’s funny when you come to think of it, we have been living under the same roof for so long but when it came to leaving, I don’t have the guts to face you and say my final goodbye. So I am writing you a letter, a letter that represents my cowardice. Thank you for giving me your friendship and the care that came along. I never realized that I had grown used to your care until now. You remember that night on the balcony you asked me ‘How you were portrayed in my eyes.’ I would like to answer that again, You Jack, you are the most annoying and stubborn person I have ever seen in my entire life. You seriously tore all our hard works into pieces without thinking deep just because you did not want me to leave. You bunk working hours and somehow always catch Sandra’s attention. You ranked 1st when it came to getting on my nerves in the initial days at the office. But… you were also the one who stood with a handke
“It feels weird to be in this room and not see Alice,” all the memories with Alice flushed back the minute they stepped in the bedroom. “I miss her too,” Stefen said. “Come,” he pulled her in and closed the door behind. Jasmine’s sadness turned into nervousness the moment she heard their bedroom door shut. She was starting to have second thoughts on letting Stefen stay with her for the night. Stefen left the hold of her hand and went to lay on the bed. He stretched his one arm on the other side of the bed, a bit lower from the pillow and titled his head, asking her to come and sleep beside him. She was happy to see him not in rush for anything and the respect he gave her and their relationship. She walked on the other side of the bed and laid on top of his hand as he caressed her hair and then embraced her back. She also hugged him tight as she rested her head near his chest, feeling his heart beat. He kissed her forehead and pulled her closer to him, “good night my princess, swee
“Are you sure about this?” Stefen said as he kept both his hands on both side of his pants pocket… helpless. “Yeah,” Alice said as she was almost done packing. She had reached Jack's apartment before anyone else and she had changed into her comfortable clothes as she started packing all her things up. “When will you be back? You will be right?” Jasmine asked standing beside Stefen, equally helpless. “I don’t know,” Alice gave a false smile. “Can we do anything to make you stay?” Stefen asked. “I HAVE TO GO. The plane ticket is expensive you know…” Alice laughed, completely failing to prove that she was fine with all this. “But I thought you were staying. you said you’d throw away the ticket,” Jasmine asked befuddled. “Well then, it’s good I didn’t, right?” She forced smile again. “Can I ask you for a last favor? Can you drop me to the airport?” Alice asked Stefen. “That's not gonna be a problem but... let’s just wait for some time. Jack must be on his way. Let me call him-” S
Jack looked at Alice hearing her as he narrowed his eyebrows, questioning her what she meant. “You don’t have anything to worry about,” Alice looked back at Jack with tears threating to fall down anytime. “Because we are not together… and we will never be together,” tears rolled down her cheek as she said those words. But she immediately wiped her tears and smiled. She gave one last glance to Jack and she walked away without another word. “Alice?” Jasmine followed her. Jack stood still, processing what Alice said. Just few hours back Alice promised to be by his side despite any hurdles and now she was contradicting her own words. Realizing that he can’t let her go he walked forward to go after her but he was held back by Alison. “Where are you going?” she questioned him. “Don’t tell me you are going after her after hearing all the things I’ve just said,” she was exasperated. Seeing that he was being the extra in the conversation Stefen approached Jack and tapped his back, “I’ll g
Alice reached the top floor and when she went to the roof no one was there. “Ha,” she gave a short sarcastic laugh. “Another prank-” But before she could say anything more, she was pushed from behind and she fell on her knees and hands. The slit dress contributed in bruising her knees. She turned around to see the person and was out of words at the sight. Alison stood tall in front of her with a cunning smile. “Hello there! Are you hurt?” sarcasm was evident in her voice. “What the- it was you all along?” Alice said slowly getting back on her feet, dusting her hands, suppressing the pain her new bruises gave her. She was shocked. “Surprise,” Alison moved her hands from her head to toe presenting herself. “Do you like my surprise?” “There,” Stefen pointed at a TV. “There’s Alice.” “She's on the rooftop," Jasmine exclaimed. "Let's go." "Okay, I will call Jack and tell him to be there," Jasmine picked her phone and dialed his number. They rushed towards the elevator and pressed o
“Okay everyone,” the host stood with a mic and grabbed all the attention with his voice audible from all the speakers from all the directions. “The most awaited time has finally arrived. Grab your partner and be ready, because today the sun will set only after witnessing 'A Beautiful Couple Dance'. So hurry up and ask for the permission to dance… LIGHTS,” the lights in the hall all went off and in the center blue and white lights glowed, making the air more calm and peaceful. Couples started coming forward and dancing along the music, under the blue and white light in a slow and romantic tune. The lights gave a winter vibe and the dance between two hearts warmth the place. “Can I have the honor?” Stefen opened his hand. “It would be mine,” Jasmine placed her hand on top and they walked towards the dancing area. “Will you dance with me?” Jack asked… unsure. “I don’t know, I am a terrible dancer,” she wasn’t lying. “Then that makes the two of us.” Alice chuckled and accepted his h
