LIAM'S P.O.V

I squeezed the blanket tightly, inhaling the scent–Her scent. God! This manor felt heart-wrenchingly empty without her.

And then….that look. That look she gave me with those beautiful hazel eyes when she asked me where I had been all these years and I couldn't reply. Fuck! I knew I messed up the moment I ran out of that room.

I only made matters worse for myself, and now she would be arguing with that little brain of hers about why I reacted that way.

But I can't tell her.

I dropped the basket on the table as I entered the parlor. There was no sign of anyone, but I wasn't surprised, and I was grateful for it. Aiden must be up in his room, so I just had to prepare this quickly. “Arya!”No answer.“Arya!” I called out louder this time. I wondered where she was.The door to the parlor opened and she came inside. “Yes, Luna.”“Um, we have a mortar and pestle in the manor, yes?”“Yes,” she answered.“Could you bring it here for me…?” Here? Should I really prepare the medicine here? It would be too open, and I didn't want that. “You know what, put it in the kitchen for me.” Arya had a puzzled look on her face, but she nodded nevertheless and left.I stood up from the sofa and left for the kitchen. I was admiring the kitchen while waiting for Arya to bring the mortar. “Here it is,” she muttered, placing the mortar and pestle on the floor.“Thank you,” I muttered quietly, gesturing for her to leave before drawing a nearby stool so I could sit on it.“Your bei

“Um… This should be enough.” Isaac mumbled quietly as he put the Moon leaves and Bloodroot leaves he had into a basket and handed it over to me. “Thank you,” I whispered as I collected the basket for him. I really hoped this leaves would work on his wound and help heal it. I still haven't gone to him. After finding out that he was experiencing the wrath of a damage bond because of what I said, I just couldn't bring myself to see him. I didn't think I could even look him in the eye without loathing myself for my mistake. But I couldn't avoid him and run away from my guilt forever. I was the cause of his pain, so I had to do everything I could to make sure his wound healed and find a way to stop the wrath. I was the least I could do. Which was why I was standing here in the herbal field, cutting the leaves I could apply to the wound to help it heal. “Rowan, can I ask you something?” “Yes, sure.” He nodded gently as he picked some other leaves for me. “Um…” I cleared my throat.

Do you know that feeling when you were so very sure and adamant about something despite being told that you may be wrong, and then suddenly you found out you were actually wrong? That feeling. That shame that would make you not want to show your face to anyone. That was exactly how I was feeling now.Since the night I found out that the pain I felt was Aiden’s and not Liam's, I avoided seeing him. I'd practiced my apology, imagine how I was going to say it, but now I couldn't bring myself to go to him. I wanted cry over how wrong I had been this whole time. I was drowning in so much guilt right now.The most painful part was that he got injured while trying to make me happy, and I immediately thought it was Liam. Then I ended up hurting him twice. It was all my fault. He was injured right now because of me, and I wanted to see him, but guilt and shame wouldn't let me. I wondered how he was doing.Someone knocked at the door. “Luna, breakfast is ready.” Arya announced from the other s

Aiden's P.O.V I watched her back as she ran up to her room. I've always had the feeling that it was me and not Liam. The timing was perfect, but I wasn't so sure because she was so certain something happened to him. Now that the guards have just confirmed to me that Liam was okay, that meant that Abigail was right. Sofia was responding to me and not Liam. But why is that?“You can go.” I told the guard as I continued my food. I couldn't even lift the spoon properly. My hands were shaking. I dropped the spoon and hid them under so they wouldn't see it.Tobias walked back to his seat, his eyes were on me, studying me. Abigail also was also quiet, but they both had millions of questions they wanted to ask me. It's written in their face and I'm sure it was at the tip of their tongues. It was only a matter of time before one of them let it out.“What pain was she talking about, Aiden? Why are you so pale? Hasn't your wound healed?” I fucking knew it.Abigail bombarded me with a whole l

This was the fifth time my eyes had gone to his chair since we started eating. He's still not back. He was supposed to be back yesterday. At least that's what Tobias told me, so why was he not back. Or is he still mad at me and doesn't want to come back? I sighed and placed my elbow on the table and rested my jaw on my palm, stirring my pudding. “Sofia, what's wrong?” Tobias asked. “You have eaten at all and you've been sighing alot.” Abigail raised her head from her food to look at me. “No, nothing is wrong.” Tobias narrowed his eyes. “Are you sure?” “Yes.” I smiled a little. Abigail studied me for a minute before returning to her meal. Just then the door opened and a guard walked in. “Luna Sofia!” I raised my head. “Yes.” “This is for you.” He extended a sealed letter I hadn't noticed he had in his hand to me. “Me?” My brows furrowed. “Yes, Luna. Alpha sent us to the Sunlight pack to check on Alpha Liam but we didn't meet him. So beta Isaac asked us to give yo

*Aiden's POV* Don't touch me. I hate you. “Aiden!” No matter what you do, I'll never, ever love you. “Aiden!” I can only have one mate in this life and it will always be Liam. “Aiden!” I hate you. I hate you so much and you suffoc— “AIDEN!” “Yes.” I jumped slightly and looked back. “You startled me, Damien. Next time let your footsteps be heard.” “Footsteps be heard? Are you kidding me? I've literally been calling you for the past five minutes.” “Sorry, didn't hear you. I was lost in thoughts” I rubbed my forehead as I moved away from the window and went to sit on the sofa opposite him, carefully leaning against the sofa so my top didn't come in contact with my back. “Yeah I can see that.” He gave me a long look. “You're thinking about her again, aren't you?” “No.” “Yes you are.” He gave me a disapproving look and sighed. “Do you want to stay here for a few more days? Aiden, you know you're always welcome to stay–” “No.” I cut him off before he could fini
