_Leah’s POV_

I did not sleep that night.

Even when my body lay still beside Kayden’s, my mind refused to rest. His arm was wrapped around my waist. He felt heavy and warm. His breathing was slow and deep; the steady rhythm of someone who trusted the world to stay calm until morning.

I envied him.

I stared at the ceiling, replaying everything again and again. Natasha’s voice. Her pause before answering. The smell in her room. The way her hands had trembled before turning still.

Athena’s presence curled tighter around my thoughts.

She is lying, Athena said quietly.

“I know,” I whispered back. “But I need proof.”

You already sense it, Athena replied. Your heart knows.

“But Kayden doesn’t,” I murmured. “And if I accuse her without proof, I’ll hurt him.”

Athena was silent for a moment.

Truth often hurts before it heals.

I swallowed hard.

I turned carefully in Kayden’s arms and studied his face in the dim light. He looked peaceful, strong and safe. He had trusted Natasha without question. S

_Leah’s POV_The silence in the room felt heavy. My chest burned. My hands were shaking. I was still holding the lab report and staring at the neat printed letters that said Natasha was pregnant. But my heart refused to believe it.“I saw her drinking alcohol,” I said suddenly.Kayden turned to me. His eyes were sharp. “What?”“I smelled it,” I continued. “In her room. Last night. She was drinking.”Natasha gasped softly. “That’s not true.”“Yes, it is,” I insisted. “I know what I smelled.”Kayden’s face darkened. “Leah, stop.”“No,” I said, my voice trembling. “I won’t stop. She is lying. She is not pregnant.”The room went completely still.Natasha pressed her hand to her chest. Tears filled her eyes. “Why are you doing this to me?”“I’m not doing anything to you,” I replied. “I’m trying to find the truth.”Kayden stepped between us. His whole body was tense.“That is enough,” he said coldly.“Kayden, please listen to me,” I begged.“I said enough,” he snapped.I had never heard his

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 81

_Leah’s POV_After I left Natasha’s room earlier that afternoon, the unease did not leave me.It followed me like a shadow.I walked slowly back to my room. My steps were quiet against the stone floor. My heart felt tight in my chest. I kept replaying her words in my mind. Her voice had been low but filled with anxiety. “I’ll do it properly. They don’t suspect anything.”Do what properly? And who was they?Athena stirred inside me. She was hiding something, Athena said.“I know,” I whispered. “But what?”Natasha had smiled when I knocked. She had spoken softly...too softly. And her hands had shaken. Not the kind of shaking that came from fear alone, but from tension. From holding something back.I sat on the edge of my bed and pressed my palms against my thighs.“She said everything was fine,” I murmured. “But it wasn’t.”Athena’s voice was firm. Truth leaves a scent, Leah. Even when words lie.I closed my eyes and breathed in slowly. My wolf senses had picked up fear, anxiety.....a

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 80

_Leah’s POV_Morning light slipped gently into the dining room, painting the long wooden table in soft gold. The pack house felt calm for once. It was quiet and safe. Or at least, that was what I told myself as I set the plates down.I adjusted the plates again even though they were already perfectly aligned. My hands needed something to do. My body still felt slow and heavy with sleep I hadn’t fully gotten.Athena stirred gently inside me. You are tired.“I know,” I whispered under my breath. It wasn’t just exhaustion. It was the memory of the night before. My cheeks warmed at the thought and I quickly focused on pouring tea so no one would notice the sudden heat in my face.Kayden sat at the head of the table. His broad shoulders were relaxed but alert, as if he never fully stopped being on guard. He looked better this morning. His color had returned and the shadows under his eyes were lighter. Still, I noticed how he rolled his shoulders slowly, testing them, how he did not move wi

_Leah’s POV_The moment Kayden ended the call, something inside me twisted. He didn’t look at me right away. His shoulders were tense. His jaw was tight. That look always meant trouble.“Kayden?” I asked softly. “What happened?”He stood up from the couch. “I need to go,” he said quickly. “Right now.”My heart skipped. “Go where?”“I’ll explain when I get back,” he replied. “I promise.”I grabbed his arm before he could move past me. “You just recovered. You can’t rush out like this. What if it’s dangerous?”His eyes softened when he looked at me but the urgency didn’t leave them. “I have to do this, Leah. Please trust me.”Athena stirred inside me. Something is wrong.“I don’t like this,” I said quietly. “At least tell me if you’re going to be safe.”“I will be,” he said. Then he leaned down and kissed my forehead. “I won’t be long.”And just like that, he was gone. The door closed behind him with a soft click but the sound echoed loudly in my chest.I stood there for a long moment,

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 78

_Leah’s POV_The days that followed blurred together in a strange mix of fear, exhaustion and fragile hope.Kayden survived. That thought alone kept me breathing. The first night after he woke up, I barely slept. I stayed by his bed in the hospital room, sitting in the stiff chair beside him. My fingers were wrapped around his hand as if letting go might make him disappear. The steady beeping of the machines became the rhythm of my heart. Every rise and fall of his chest felt like a miracle. He slept most of the time. His body was healing but slowly. The dark magic had left deep scars inside him. The doctors explained what they could, but even they admitted there were things they did not fully understand. Magic did not follow human rules.I watched his face while he slept. His lashes rested against his cheeks. There were faint shadows under his eyes. He looked calmer like this, younger somehow and more vulnerable. You saved him, Athena said softly inside me.“We saved him,” I whisper
