She was going to leave. The thought made me sick to my stomach and had Storm howling. I looked away from her, not sure how to take everything. So much has happened in such a short time and I was having a hard time wrapping my head around everything.

After Raina told me everything, I understood why she hid things from me but that didn’t stop me from feeling like I wasn’t good enough to know the truth. We had a lot to work on and I was determined to fix things between us. I refused to lose my mate, the woman I waited my entire life for.

“So what is our next step?” asked Liam, always the first to tackle a problem.

“We need to learn more about his group of rogues. We need numbers and where they’re staying,” I said, blocking my emotions from our bond and pushing my feelings to the side.

“I actually have an idea on how we can obtain that information.” Everyone gave Raina their attention. She looked down at me and I could tell whatever she was about to say wouldn’t help how I was feeling. “I

  • The Luna of Rain   Chapter One Hundred and Four - Raina

It was two days later and I was in a vehicle with Xander, Micah, and Hayden. Merrick stuck true to his word and stayed, going over battle plans with us all hours of the day until he’d go spend time with his mate and pup. He was currently following behind in another vehicle with a few of his men.Hayden stayed in the house those two days with us, giving everyone the opportunity to get to know him better. His support of me spoke volumes and people were starting to warm up to him.I could feel his anticipation and nervousness. I opened a link with him, speaking into his mind. “Everything will be okay.”“I know, my queen. I just can’t wait to see them.” His voice broke on the last word and I knew how important this was to him. I’ve also tried getting him to just call me Raina but he refused. I secretly loved it.I’d spend the last couple days away from other pack members. There were endless rumors going around but I wasn’t ready to address them yet. Once this mission was over, I’d take th

It's the next morning and we’re all eating breakfast, waiting for Hayden to arrive. I kept the mindlink open with him so he had a way to contact me. Micah already informed the warriors on patrol duty to alert us when he came and to also not harm him.I need him safe and will be knocking heads together if any of them touch him.It was just me and the men going to meet him. The women will be staying back, their mates not trusting them around a rogue. I tried not to roll my eyes at their possessiveness. I think if Xander had it his way, I’d be staying behind too.Too bad I’d never let that happen. Hayden would only speak with me anyway. We’d all just finished eating when the link came from a warrior alerting Xander to a rogue approaching the northern border. At the same time Hayden spoke in my mind. “Uh, my queen… I’m here but surrounded by warriors.”“They won’t touch you.” I promised. “We’ll be there soon.”We ran outside and shifted into our wolves, Weather grabbing our clothes for w

Hearing Raina refer to me as alpha always turned me on but this time it just reminded me that I wasn’t meant to just be an alpha. Not anymore. Being Raina’s mate meant I was to be a king and the thought scared me.I was never one to crave power like my father. I was happy being an alpha to my pack and only strived for Head Alpha to follow in my step fathers footsteps, a way to honor his memory. Also, what happened once we defeated Arrick? I assumed we’d have to move to the Full Moon pack but what about my pack here? I hated the thought of leaving them and then what of Micah and Liam? There were so many things we needed to talk about. I tried to remind myself to take everything one step at a time. We didn’t need to figure it all out right now.Raina was my mate and best friend and I knew I could talk to her about all my doubts and fears. We’d get through this together.Everyone was seated around the dining room table as we walked in, laughing and chatting. Merrick and his mate were als

Storm was over the moon with joy at getting to finally meet Weather. He was in absolute awe of her. I lost track of how many times he said ‘mate is perfect’ to me. He wasn’t wrong.Raina and Weather were perfect. The longer our wolves played, the more I realized I was ready to forgive her. We’d never be able to move on and focus on the tasks ahead if this wall was still between us. We needed to be honest with each other and remember we’re a team.I’d walk through hell for her and it was time we gave into the bond I could feel every second of every day.I just wanted to mate and mark her so everyone knew she was mine. I refused to let the man I called father take her away from me. I didn’t know what his plans were with wanting to take her but after hearing how sick he was, I couldn’t even imagine.Raina wanted to keep me safe the same way I wanted with her. I knew she was more than capable of taking care of herself but that possessive, animalistic side of me went wild any time I though

I felt around in my mind, finding that small link to Hayden. I reached for it, tugging and felt as the connection went through.“Hayden?”There was a second of silence before, “My Queen?”I blew out a breath. It worked.“Hayden, is there any way you can come back to the pack? I need to meet with you.”“Will… Will you kill me?”I snorted. “No Hayden, like I said before, I have no desire to kill you.” I paused. “I want to free your family and the others.”His shock was strong down the mindlink. “You do?”“Yes,” I said firmly. “And I need your help.”“I will be there tomorrow.”“I will see you then and I promise no harm will come to you.”I closed the mindlink and looked at everyone gathered, save for Xander. I was still hurt by his earlier words. “He’ll be here tomorrow.” I turned to Micah. “Can you make sure no one attacks him? I promised he’d be safe.”Micah nodded. “I will warn the warriors not to touch him.”“So,” began Alpha Merrick. I held my breath, waiting to hear what he had to
