He’s coming toward me with a sword gripped tight in his hand. Before I can move, his free hand snaps out and grabs me by the neck, lifting me off my feet. I gasp, choking, as he hurls me sideways. My body slams into a heavy tree trunk with a force that knocks the air clean from my lungs. I can’t fight him. My body feels too weak, too broken to even stand.

Just as despair starts to swallow me whole, I see it—a bright, blazing light at the edge of the cliff, racing straight toward me. Perseus.

A bright, reckless smile is stretched across his face, and the sight of it melts something deep inside me. He’s handsome. He always is. Tears prick at my eyes as I reach out for him, my fingers straining through the empty air.

But then the earth beneath us shudders and splits apart, tearing a gaping chasm between us. I let out a choked gasp, my hope crumbling as he slowly disappears from view. My vision blurs into nothing.

E L E A N O R“Who is Beersheba?” I asked Severus as we hurried back toward the castle, my heart still racing from the sudden summons.“Someone Perseus knows,” he replied, his voice low and cautious. “An ancient goddess of seduction, or better still, a succubus. I don’t know what she’s doing here. Perseus told me he settled things peacefully with her a long time ago.”“He never told me anything about her before,” I said, a knot tightening in my stomach.“He probably didn’t see the need, or maybe he just forgot. He has… had… so many admirers back then.”My stomach twisted into something sharp and hot—something I recognized as jealousy. I had seen him with Roseline before, and that never felt good. Not even a little.“He should’ve told me regardless,” I muttered under my breath.“There were many of them,” Severus admitted reluctantly. “Some I remember from when we were younger. There was the serpent shifter princess, Athena. Roosevelt from the human world. And a couple of lycan women, m

P E R S E U SI’m in my room, seated on the edge of the couch, when Eleanor approaches me with that smile—the one that still unravels me completely. How did I even get here? Her hair is down, falling in smooth burgundy waves that send a familiar thrill straight through me. Her body is barely covered in that favorite pink nightdress of hers, the one that hugs her curves perfectly, especially the gentle swell of her growing belly. She is so beautiful. Enthrallingly beautiful. I let out a shaky gasp as she settles onto my lap, straddling me, her warmth seeping into my skin.“I miss you, Perseus. I really do…” she whispers, and a single tear rolls down her cheek. I catch it with my thumb, my touch gentle as I caress her face.“I’ve missed you too,” I whisper back, my voice wavering with each word. “So much.”“Then come home to me. To us.”“I will. I’m trying to figure something out, I promise. This woman, Athena… she has me locked in her village. She wants me to marry her, but I won’t. I’

She looks healthier, her eyes clearer, though she still moves with a slight carefulness that speaks of recent pain.“It’s so nice of you to finally join us,” she says warmly, pulling me into a firm hug. She rubs my back gently before letting me step inside. Behind me, maids follow, carrying beautifully wrapped presents which they carefully set down on the large sofa in the sitting room.I pause just inside the doorway, staring around. The house feels entirely different from the last time I was here—it’s brighter, airier, more lived-in. Light streams through clean windows, and there’s a sense of warmth that wasn’t here before. My eyes catch on a large portrait hanging in the hallway leading toward the garden. It’s a painting of a little girl with brown hair and a brilliantly bright smile. Flanking it are two other portraits just as large—one of a silver-haired girl with a calm,

P E R S E U SI'm drowning. I can't move, I can't see anything but darkness as the water around me turns thick and clouded. A heavy surge of pain rushes through my bones, sharp and unrelenting. The arrows were poisoned—I can feel the venom spreading through my veins, burning like acid, leaving me paralyzed and weak. I struggle to hold back a groan as water forces its way into my nostrils, stinging the back of my head with a piercing ache. I have to get back to Eleanor. I can't die like this. Not here. Not now.The current is too strong, dragging me along like a lifeless log, tossing me without mercy. I have no control, no strength left to fight it.“Ezekiel,” I call out through our mind-link, my thoughts slurred and desperate.“I can't... Perseus, I'm trying, but I can't reach you,” his voice echoes faintly, strained and fading.I don’t hear anything else after that. My head slams against a massive boulder near the steep edge leading to a dam waterfall. The impact cracks through my s

  • The Luna's Groom   137| Merely A Truce

E L E A N O RI walked into the town hall and immediately felt the tension shift. The council chiefs were gathered in small clusters, laughing too loudly and passing around bottles of rum like they were at a celebration rather than a meeting. The air was thick with the smell of alcohol and arrogance.“What is the meaning of this?” Severus growled, his voice thundering through the spacious hall. The men flinched, their laughter dying instantly as all eyes turned toward us.One of the elders, a man with a slick smile and cold eyes, stepped forward. “It’s a pleasure you could finally join us, Luna.” He nodded slightly in my direction before turning back to Severus. “Beta, please, have a seat.”“He’s the instigator,” Eira purred within me, her presence sharp and alert.I swallowed hard, my gaze fixed on the man. My hands clenched at my sides. Engagement ceremony? It hadn't even been a full month since Perseus disappeared. Already they were thirsty for the throne, scheming and drafting way
