LEANNA’S POV

“Ugh,” a soft groan escaped my lips as my eyelids fluttered open. I narrowed my gaze as I found my path to the sun blocked by a face I would love nothing more than to sink my fist into.

“Took you long enough,” he let out, the bored expression on his face ever present as he regarded me. I sat up, too busy addressing the migraine that attacked me in my sleep to bother with his words.

LEANNA’S POV“Ugh,” a soft groan escaped my lips as my eyelids fluttered open. I narrowed my gaze as I found my path to the sun blocked by a face I would love nothing more than to sink my fist into.“Took you long enough,” he let out, the bored expression on his face ever present as he regarded me. I sat up, too busy addressing the migraine that attacked me in my sleep to bother with his words.“Forgive me your highness,” I replied dryly, turning to face him, realizing I could do nothing but wait for the headache to disappear on its own.Ignoring his lack of a response, I walked towards a cluster of flowers that still shone regardless of a lack of moonlight.Their ethereal glow ever present like creations that weren’t supposed to exist in our world. But here they were and I was ready to claim them. Carefully, I slipped my hand into my boot, pulling out my knife as I plucked two flowers from their stems. To be on a safe side.I tucked them into a sash I wore around my waist with glist

LEANNA’S POV“You can’t be serious!” I half yelled, suppressing a wince as I fought to keep whatever energy I had left from the bout. I stared at him in defiance as I protested with my gaze. There’s no way he’s going to make me scale a mountain that practically reached the sky in my injured state.“I’m not asking,” his voice instantly dropped several degrees as he stared back at me. My heart settled in my stomach as a feeling of dread instantly filled my bones. My fingers dug into the sand beneath me as I once again experienced what it felt like to be weak. And once again, I hated it.“The adrenaline coursing through your veins will help you scale it. Or at the very least, reach a sizable point,” he said with his back now turned towards me.I didn’t fully understand his rationale, but I knew he didn’t want me dead. My gaze drifted off towards the dead bodies casually sprawled aside. Their limbs twisted in awkward positions, with terror forever etched on their faces.I suppressed a sh

LEANNA’S POV“Who are you and why are you attacking me?” I barked, narrowing my eyes as I readied myself. I didn’t expect them to answer so I was caught off guard when a gruff voice resounded in the area between us.“You should’ve never invoked the trials,” and with that, I watched as he lunged at me with a speed that didn’t suit his figure. My breath halted in my throat as I fought to maintain a calm state. I sidestepped his advance, drawing up my knife to strike at his neck. The clang of metal gnashing against each other resounded as he blocked my attack. I didn’t give him any time to react as I threw another knife towards his temple. He ducked, swinging a large fist towards my head. My pupils constricted as I hurriedly ducked out of the way, losing my footing in the process.I retreated, never once turning my back towards him as I created distance between us. Suddenly, my pupils constricted as every hair on my body stood on end. I gritted my teeth as I twisted my body in the air,

  • The Luna’s Inheritance    CHAPTER 19

LEANNA’S POV“Ugh, my head,” a soft groan escaped my lips as the sunlight that filtered through the canopy of trees pierced my eyes. My eyes were blurry as I surveyed my surroundings in a bid to remember what had happened. But it was to no avail. My back was propped up against a tree with no one else in sight. A soft hiss escaped my lips as I tried recalling what happened last night. “There were wolves, and blood, and…,” a sharp pain coursed through my body as my train of thought ended abruptly.A wave of fear coursed through my heart as I stared at the rustling bushes ahead of me. The terror I felt when the wolves attacked were still very fresh in my mind. Even if I couldn’t remember how I escaped.I grabbed the nearest branch close to me, struggling to take a fighting stance as I awaited my enemy. My breath got caught in my throat as a tall figure emerged. “It’s you!” I let out, unable to hide my surprise as I watched the ever arrogant alpha storm through.“I see you finally woke

  • The Luna’s Inheritance    CHAPTER 18

LEANNA’S POVThe sound of the wind saved me from my thoughts, as I ran for my dear life. The branches and thorns made nicks on my skin where fabric should’ve been. The howls of the wolves pursuing me weren’t enough to distract me from the fact that Romeo wasn’t next to me. The thought took root and sprouted as pictures of his emerald green eyes wide open with fear, as bloodthirsty wolves pounced on him were the only thing on my mind.“No, no, no,” I screamed as I ran, tears pooling at the corners of my eyes, forcing me to blink furiously to stop them from coming. But it was all for naught. Tears rushed down my face as I tore through the dark forest, with nothing but the light of the moon, and a barely visible night vision to help.“Ugh,” a low grunt escaped my lips as my ankle got caught in what looked to be a tree root. I couldn’t cushion my landing in time, as I fell face first into the dirt. Panic filled my gaze as I threw my head back. The bloodred eyes of the wolves chasing me

  • The Luna’s Inheritance    CHAPTER 17

LEANNA’S POVI watched his features slowly turn ashen, as his lips were pressed into a thin line before he let out, “Do you know the way out of here?” His voice trembled as a hint of despair creeped into his tone. My heart broke in two as I stared at him. It was my fault he was in danger.I was the one who just had to go through these deadly trials. And now, I managed to put both our lives in danger.“I do,” I lied. My gaze filled with as much conviction as I could muster. I wasn’t about to let him lose hope. I would get us out of her. Or at least die trying to save him.“Okay then,” he said, his chest heaving as he took my hand, letting me lead the way. I didn’t say anything as I pulled him along, careful to keep an eye out for any fresh paw prints.I gritted my teeth slightly as I hated how weak I was. My mind drifted towards a wolf that would dominate the woods like it was his domain.Alpha Stormfang would just go ahead and subdue every single wolf here. Bloodthirsty or not. And
