Ryan's point of view
Today was one of those days one needed to take a break from the bar. Almost all the supernaturals in the city wanted a drink and a few humans who were being stupidly loud about a birthday they were supposed to attend once they leave the bar. If they were able to leave the bar, that is.One of the strippers jumped down the pole, did a summersault and landed on her feet quite gracefully, her waist already twisting and turning to the beat of the music before she even settled down. A vampire with a huge appetite for blood that one, even now her fangs were starting to come out, eager to have a taste. One of those foolish human cheered and clapped much louder than the others and she blew him a kiss.Guess the vampire has seen her dinner for the night. How wonderful for her and disastrous for him."Wonderful dancer, isn't she?" Someone said. I turned to the right, the metallic scent of blood that stained his chin assaulting my nose. Another vampire, just my luck.He took a sip from his drink with raised eyebrows, he was waiting for an answer.I turned back to the stripper. The way she moved was intoxicating, any man who didn't have a strong sense of control would want to have her. And she knew exactly how to tease them which ensured that they would come back."A beautiful seductress" I finally said before turning my attention back to cleaning the glasses. I didn't want the conversation he was planning on having with me."Beautiful seductress and quite intelligent too. Vampires are intelligent creatures unlike you Lycans and werewolves"My jaw tightened "And what happened to werewolves and Lycans?" I asked, my tone low.He laughed "Well I'm about to meet one of your species who thinks she can trust anyone on the internet" He gulped the last part of the drink and slid the glass my way "That's why vampires should be on top of the food chain"And you just revealed your plan to me. A reason why vampires shouldn't be on the food chain at all. Vain and proud.I shouldn't have done what I decided to do at that moment, I should have gone home. I should have watched the seductress. I should have done any fucking thing and not leave but instead I told my fellow bartender to cover for me. I followed the guy from the shadows, I watched him attack the girl from behind like a fucking coward.Vampires.Instinct took over and I rushed forward to join in the fight but before I reached there, she already punched him in the jaw with all her strength and man did that guy fly. He fell on the floor with a thud and pretended he was unconscious, a smile on his face. He knew exactly what was going to happen, the girl was already making her way towards him planning on finishing her job.I rushed forward and pushed her out of the way. I wasn't something he was expecting, I changed into my wolf midway and landed on him."You" He growled showing his fangs, blood dripping down his nose.I closed my eyes as I did something I promised myself I would never do again. And all because of some random girl who didn't know what she was supposed to do or where she was supposed to be."Not some random girl" My wolf said. Her scent came rushing towards me like a hurricane. Sweet smell of sweat, lavender and peppermint. Something I recognized because I've smelled it before. "Mate" My wolf growled. He wanted to mark her now after all we weren't able to do it before.I dropped the vampire and turned towards her, my face covered "You shouldn't be making deals with random weirdos on the internet especially the ones who have something against your pack"She crossed her arms and looked sideways "Lesson learnt believe me but I did not know he was a vampire"My wolf did a double take and so did I. How did she not know? That means she doesn't......n...n...no, that doesn't makes sense."Aren't you a werewolf, can't you smell the undead blood in that one"No comment. Not a single answer.I walked closer on instinct "Can't you smell me, don't you know who and what I am"You're something that saved me from that vampire guy and now want me to be able to identify him" She scoffed. Her face scrunched up like she wanted to say more but decided against it.I did it before I would chicken out. I dropped the coat and hat I wore from my head and showed her what I was. I watched her eyes widen in surprise. My wolf took over for a short time.He knelt down beside her and held her chin "Well little Luna" He growled "Little mate"And she responded with a large glop of her saliva on my face. She spat at me and moved backwards, trying to get as far away from me as possible."Where are you going to? I just saved you""Fucking liar, you're a fucking liar " She shouted at me "I lost my mate years back to your kind, your kind killed him without an ounce of remorse"I wished I could say I did not know what she was talking about. Pretend like this was relatively new to me and totally none of my business but I couldn't, I couldn't even walk away, not from my mate and not this time.So I did another foolish thing."I don't know what you're talking about, I'm a rouge lycan" I raised my hands up to show how harmless I was. I wasn't going to do anything to her.She rolled her eyes at me but said nothing for a moment. And when she started to talk, it wasn't what I expected to hear."I assume you know the Gilbert park" She raised an eyebrow at him, baiting me. She was watching to see if I would have a reaction, the slightest reaction to that name "Well they attacked my pack and took some things from me and I need to find them""And what are those?" I asked, my poker face set and my hands by my side. She put her backpack on and sighed softly "Something very special, do you know them or not?"Mate or not, I could have walked away. My wolf would have understood, after all we can't mark someone that was determined she wasn't our mate. I should have just rejected her and moved on. Continue with my plans. But my wolf had other ideas."I'm not loosing my mate a second time" He growled in my mind. He stayed silent for a while then spoke again "At least we should get to know her, she'll forgive us for what we did. I'm sure she will"I dragged my hands down my face in exasperation and sighed "I know them and I know where you can find them but you have to tell me why you want them""I don't have to tell you anything Lycan, I don't have to tell anyone of your kind anything" She spat at me angrily. Her hands balled to her side. She was a stubborn one. I would give her that. She held my gaze "I'll pay you and you'll tell me where the Gilbert pack is and how to get there, you'll stop this rubbish thing about me being your mate and you'll go far away from me"Without another word, I turned around and started leaving. I wasn't planning on being part of this and I wasn't rejecting her as my mate. Heck, she didn't even know she was my mate. I wanted none of this, no matter how much she was paying. She was by my side before I knew it, her small steps taking my large ones. Without making a single sound. How the heck?"I assume you're taking me to your house and from there, you draw a map for me"How does one even assume something like that. I thought to myself."No I'm not, I'm not playing this games with you""You said you're my mate" She said after a while. She stopped walking "Even if your kind is disgusting, are you guys the type to leave a mate stranded without even the relief of rejection?"If there was ever a time, the little girl was not in the same location as her father, no one could remember it. From weddings that she was too young to attend to vacations and even to the occasional war room to discuss strategies with his beta. But she was all grown now and she had a mate. An handsome mate who wanted her so much that he was even willing to leave behind his pack and family to stay with her. A mate that was so thoughtful and remembered everything she told him.All her life, she had thought Lucas would be her mate. He was certainly her first love even though he showed no desire for her, rather going for girls his age. He had been her first kiss though, one night when he was stupidly drunk that he couldn't remember anything the next day, She had balled his shirt up and kissed him hard and he had kissed her back without a care, his right hand holding her waist while the other cupped her neck. He had tasted of Brandy and cigarettes. Now she had a mate who smelled of cedarwo
Avery's point of viewI walked with the Lycan for several minutes in silence,I did not know what to say and he didn't seem like the type that enjoyed idle conversation except maybe it was to ruffle one like saying he was my mate. The moon goddess would be kind enough to give me a new mate after the last one died due to unfortunate circumstances but she wouldn't ridicule me by giving me a mate that was also a Lycan. Not only were they the ones that attacked my home and brought on this catastrophe, werewolves also hated lycans and had hated them before I was even born. That was a story I never understood when I was younger. Werewolves and lycans were once considered allies, the lycans protecting the werewolves as they were generally stronger and then after some time, the alliance just ended and they started fighting each other. Dad always told me the lycans were jealous of the fact that werewolves could go full wolf whereas they couldn't, turning into some sort of monster when they tu
Avery's point of viewThere wasn't a way in hell I was going to stay in this house for two weeks without at least checking out everywhere and everything. Ryan said he had a roommate so I am very sure I would be staying in the living room and I had to make sure it was comfortable for me. Did not need any rat sleeping close to me at night.Leaving my bag on the couch, I ventured around the house tentatively. The kitchen area wasn't as clean as the living room, thank the heavens for that. There were some unwashed plates in the kitchen sink, unfinished coffee in a mug with the words "World best boyfriend" written on it close to the coffee machine and a pair of dirty footwear by the door. I checked the fridge expecting to see nothing of importance but it was actually stocked with fruits, drinks and.....cake. Must be world best boyfriend's birthday.I probably shouldn't be checking out the rooms but curiousity kills the cat or in this case the werewolf. I checked the first room, the room Ry
Avery's point of viewDay 1Ryan wasn't someone who spoke alot. I realized that after spending few hours with him after he came back from wherever he went to yesterday, with a bag of groceries. I had just woken up from my little nap and was already feeling a little bit hungry but I wasn't about to complain to him about that. Staying in his living room was embarrassing as it is. And he behaved like someone who preferred to move around broodingly."Welcome back" I had said as soon as I saw he was the one coming in. He looked a little bit tired and was wearing a shirt different from the one he left the house in "You look tired, something happened?" I continued when he did not reply my greetings.Got in a bit of a fight with somebody at work" He had explained quickly, his eyes focusing on everything else but my face. His hand moved unconsciously to his neck but not before I saw the bite marks on his neck.I averted my eyes as quickly as possible, taking the straps of my bags into my hands
Ryan's point of viewAvery was different from most girls I knew and I have lived for the past twenty two years and spent majority of my life with women. I mean I had three elder sisters and they were nothing like her.I have never seen them go revenge crazy to the extent of trusting random people or rather not trusting random people but still going to meet them and staying in their house. Or going out of someone's house and staying out for five hours because they wanted to find a job so as not to depend on the person who wanted to help them.I mean when you think about it, her reason was valid. She had lose her wolf and loosing a wolf can make one do a lot of crazy shit. There were people who never got their wolf and they almost went bat shit crazy because not gaining something that was deeply embedded in your upbringing was crazy but getting it and then loosing it was even crazier. It was like loosing your identity, your second mind, your conciousness and it wasn't funny.I couldn't
Day 2Ryan's point of viewThere comes a time in a man's life when he feels the need to beat the heck out of a woman. He needs to not do it as it won't turn into anything good for him, he might be the one that gets beaten at the end of it.That time has happened twice in my life now. Once when I was younger and my nosy ass sister wouldn't stop snooping through my belongings and shouting about the things that happened in school to the delight of my parents. That one ended with me getting the shit beaten out of me when I tried to fight her because of it. My sisters were the greatest bully of all times. And now. Now was another time I wanted to beat the heck out of this woman. After winning at Monopoly yesterday and screaming like a banshee, Avery had made me buy a bucket of yogurt for her and wear a silly dress which made me look ridiculous. She then proceeded to take various photos of me in different poses. After that, we decided to try one of the techniques my mother used when trying
Avery stopped being afraid of anything at the age of seven. Spiders, clowns, big scary red balloons. If her brother pranked her, she pranked him back even harder. If people tried to bully her in school, she hit them back even harder. She saw people bullying others, she bullied them right back. Two wrongs doesn't make a right, her dad always told her. But sometimes two wrongs can make someone right. She would add even though she did not know what that meant. The day she met her mate, her first mate had been a bundle of surprise. The day had started with her mom giving her one of her vintage dresses to use during Halloween, something she had been begging for for weeks was suddenly just handed to her. That was enough to make her suspicious but she was used to her mother doing stuff like that. She did not expect to however stay with her father as he met the alpha of the Raven pack. A pack that up to three weeks ago had been feuding with the Nightshade pack for the past decade and they had
Avery's point of viewDay 3Everything had not being going has planned for me. I needed to have full control of my wolf at the end of two weeks but I haven't grasped it since the first breakthrough I had when I started yesterday. The first breakthrough I've had since I started therapy all those years back.Alone in the house at eleven fifteen am and all I could think about was whether Ryan had been flirting with me yesternight when we were alone in the packs. It was better than thinking about the other alternative, the memories that had flooded into my mind when all I wanted was to find my wolf. It was the same thing that happened whenever I tried turning to my wolf, I get memories of the incident. This one was a bit different. I had different memories but memories all the same. And they weren't exactly the pleasant sort of memories.I poured some wine into a glass cup and dropped the entire thing into my mouth, the alcohol burning my throat and making me cough a bit. I was a serious
