Chapter Twenty Two

Day Seven

Avery's point of view

Mama Nita's bookshop was quite crowded that afternoon when I visited and after Alex practically left me alone in the middle of the road under the pretense that he left something at the house.

Probably that current asshole of a guy Ryan told him to stay away from me.

Ryan had been acting the jerk card lately and it hadn't been funny. After all the talk with Alex melting one's defenses down and ready to try and start something with the guy that claimed to be my mate literally and was supposed to help me with my revenge scheme and all of a sudden he started acting the fool.

This had got to be the longest week of my life. I hadn't gotten anywhere close to my goal and neither had I call my dad. Plus I was starting to think he didn't want to find me because it had been a week and not a peep from him.
