Chapter 43: Red and Blue

THERE he was again, sending my heart in chaos with those words.

“I don’t think I’ve done enough for you to see me that way, Luther. I’m not even sure I know the colors you were talking about.”

“You knew. Maybe you just forgot. Do you want me to tell you about them? Maybe then you’d be reminded of them.”

“Go on. Let me hear it.”

I needed to hear it. I needed to know because I wanted to see the same colors he was seeing, to experience the same feeling he experienced. If I truly forgot them, then I want to remember them now.

“Blue is what I feel each time I have you close to me like this. It’s this peaceful feeling that I can only find when I’m with you.”

I closed my eyes and tried to picture the colors he was describing.
