Ame POV

I settle into my new accommodation inside the large pack house.

This was always where the single wolves were housed, until they paired off and were moved to individual pack houses…where they could start a family home.

I’m only just realising that not once did I step inside this building.

When my father died, I was relocated to the alpha house, too young to live alone in the communal pack house.

Too young to make decision for myself apparently.

My room is basic, a single bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers….what else do you need. Fresh bed linen lays folded on the end of the bed, with a few clean towels and toiletries.

A small mirror sits on top of the chest of drawers, my eyes catching my own reflection as I slowly lower myself onto the edge of the bed.

I stare at myself…long and hard…mixed emotions trying to resurface.

My wolf trying to wake up from her drug induced slumber.

With deep regret towards my wolf, because this was never her fault, she only ever protected me, I

Ame POV “Calian, what the fuck bro?” Balgaire moves like the speed of light as he tears Calian away from me and places himself between us, effectively blocking me.“What…I was just making sure she had everything she needs.” Calian tries to play dumb but the evidence speaks for itself…he had been caught by my alpha. “By being so intimidatingly close?”“I wasn’t that close.” Calian scoffs back, rolling his eyes as if Balgaire was overreacting.“You’re telling me my eyes are deceiving me now. Do you have everything that you need?” His head tilts towards me but he doesn’t let his eyes move away from Calian. He didn’t trust his presence here, and neither did I.“I do.”“She does!” Balgaire seethes out, taking a step towards Calian which gives me an opportunity to move away from where I had been caged in.“Why are you here, she needs to concentrate on my son. I knew you would be a distraction.”“She skipped breakfast.”“Are you this attentive to all your pack members?”“Pack members and m

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 23 - In my space

Ame POV I was one of the first to arrive at the hospital this morning, the receptionists not even yet at their posts to let me in. The caretaker finally heard my buzzing and granted me access, escorting me to my room…turning the lights on as I moved along the corridor.I didn’t sleep well last night, a mixture of excitement at my plan finally coming into fruition, and the memories of being back here tormented my dreams. The alpha house was visible from the window my compact room, my eyes glued on the building until the early hours when I finally succumbed to sleep…only for that to be disturbed by nightmares. As I place another pill in the palm of my hand, I can feel my dozy wolf pushing back…begging me not to take any more. Pleading with me to give her a chance to behave herself. But that would be futile, I know her better than anybody…she was a part of me after all. If I gave her an inch, she would run a mile.I was keen to get moving, to prepare the room before my session with A

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 22 – Tensions rising

Ame POV“Children and their imagination.” Dessa mutters out as she pushes her empty plate away from her. She reaches for the wine bottle, pouring her empty glass to the rim.“I’m flattered Athan, but this isn’t me.”“Oh?” His face drops, disappointment forming on his expression as he looks down to his owndrawing.“I can’t fly.” I wink out at him, his face lifting back up with a grin as that look of rejection fades. My own chest twisting in confusion.“It seems the moon goddess is on your side Athan, if you’ve been having dreams of the healer.” Balgaire leans over, removing the picture from my hand and inspecting it for himself.“Really…you think the moon goddess has seen me?”“Of course, she sees everyone.” I continue, taking the drawing from Balgaire and returning itback to Athan.“She sent the healer to me?”“No, I did that.” Balgaire chuckles out, his body continuing to lean over towards me as he placeshis arm on the back of my chair. The moment we share with the boy is innoce

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 21 - Breaking bread with the enemies.

Ame POV The moment I walk into the alpha house, I can feel memories trying to take control. It is different, designed definitely…I suppose his true luna has different tastes. I have mixed emotions as my heels sound out along the wooden floor of the hallway, this place had been my home…there wasn’t an inch of this building I didn’t know and yet, the scent of the house was slightly different…changed. Balgaire makes a point of sitting next to me at the dining table, placing himself in the seat next to the Alpha’s setting. Dessa sits on the other side, in the Luna seat next to Calian…Athan directly opposite me. One by one the dinner plates are served out by the housemaids, they move in complete silence, their eyes stealing glances my way. Before I would have waited, it is embedded into you from an early age within the shifter community that you do not eat before the alpha does. There was a time I would have gladly waited for Calian to eat first, but I was done pleasing o

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 20 – Not all scars are hidden

Ame POV “I’ve been looking for you.” She finally continues, taking a step closer, her eyes flickering between the both of us. She’ll deny it but she will have felt the tension around us, the charged space that carried an oppressive weight to it. Thunderclaps just waiting to explode. “What is going on?” She forces a smile onto her lips as she moves to Calian’s side, her hand moving from his waist up to his chest before resting on his shoulder…she was showing me who he belonged to. Territorial fingers roam over him, claiming him as hers….if only she knew her act of possessiveness was unnecessary, I do not need to feign the oblivious look upon my face as I hold her stare…her touching him doesn’t affect me like it once did. “I was going for an evening walk before dinner.” I respond back, my eyes breaking as I look to the side, I really didn’t care what her hands were doing. “By yourself? Our lands are vast….what if you got lost?” “I have a good sense of direction.” “Or memory.”

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 19 – His intense gaze

Ame POVHis voice calls out to me…calls my name.I might be wrong, misjudging his tone, but I could swear there is a hint of longing to it…It’s almost how he used to call for me, how in just one word I knew I was his…that I belonged to him.My entire body freezes, I even stop breathing…not wanting to give out any clues of how much his voice still affects me. How it could bring down my plan in one strike.Memories stir of us together, of how he used to hold me…how those arms used to cocoon around me for protection. Then my wolf stirs from deep within, ploughing through those flashbacks with a memory of the wolf teddy in my hands, the moment I realised he had doused it in wolfsbane to kill me…the excruciating burn spreading on my chest as the poison takes me.My hands move to my chest, the memory surprising me with its rawness still that for a moment I think I am back there, back in that moment…the pain still real. The wound may be gone but the memory remains. It’s this place, being
