Chapter One Hundred and Six: The Rescue

Ronan’s POV

I returned to my chambers after the long meeting with the Elders, my mind still heavy with thoughts of Selene. The celebration had ended hours ago, yet the emptiness beside me lingered, gnawing at my heart. Every smile I had forced, every nod to the pack, felt hollow. She wasn’t there. She hadn’t been there.

My steps were heavy as I crossed the hall. The weight of my Alpha mantle had been lifted, but the weight in my chest remained. I felt lost. I felt broken. The thought of her trapped, alone, under Evric’s control, twisted something deep inside me. I couldn’t breathe properly.

The moment I stepped inside, I saw her — not Selene, but Mirella, standing stiffly by the fire, a small scroll clutched in her hand. The sight of her immediately made my body tense.
