Chapter 6: Roman

For the past two weeks, everything has been going according to plan, Addy had gotten Aidan’s blood when he helped with the rogue problem. He was accidentally cut by Addy, visiting warriors in the palace infirmary, more and more rogues were crossing the pack borders and Aidan ordered his warriors to kill the rogues once any information was recovered, once captured alive, because of the threat to his future queen. Security was on high alert and one more guard was assigned to Lily by Gamma Drax, Lily’s parents were given a room in the palace for their safety. Aidan was leaving no stone unturned to get to the bottom of this problem, trying to find who the rogues were working for, if only he knew I was behind the attacks weakening his borders and replacing his men with mine, some guards were so easy to manipulate and other did under duress to save their family.

They were under spells that would never allow them to betray me and speak of our plan it would kill them if they tried to talk. Aidan has followed in his father's footsteps, ruling with understanding and respect but still ruling with an iron fist, as he is considered the strongest Lycan alive. I am probably stronger than him, I don't know what all the fuss is about, rumour has it his special bloodline was chosen by the moon goddess to rule, I call it bullshit and probably spread by his family to stay in power. The Kingdom has prospered since he became King after the war, which I will not deny, but I believe I can do better. The treaties we have with the other packs, witches, and the Vampire King have helped a lot too. I particularly don't like the Vampires but they have come to our aid before and it will be fun to see how loyal they are to the throne once I'm on it. The king is said to be an honorable man and chose the crown over friendship but this is left to be seen.

However, some alphas believe that we shouldn't be friends with vampires and believe they will turn against us if given the chance. I agree with them but we can't start an outright war when we need their business plus he is friends with the Fae and Elves and I don't want to know what side they will fight on because I think they will side with the vampires. It’s been weeks and I spend time with Lily whenever I can get to know her as my future queen, of course. She is stunning and her smile lights up the palace, she is witty and feisty, just the way I love my women. I can smell Aidan's scent on her so I know they have mated and I hated it, I will have Lily as my Queen once the dust is settled and she will love me as I love her. I watched her in the garden with her best friend Danielle, she doesn’t like me much nor do I care, she will die if she gets in my way. Lily mind-linked me, "Stop staring my lord, people might think you love me." I smiled and linked back, "You are my future queen and my best friend’s mate, what’s not to love?" "Well, in that case, have a good day, my lord," "Call me, Roman, when it's just us," I closed the link and went back to doing my job.

Later, I saw Lily walking heading toward the pond on the east wing and I followed her, this was a special private garden Aidan had made in a few days for Lily, she loves flowers of all kinds. She mind-linked me, "My lord, is there something wrong that you followed me here?" I smiled and walked over to her and said, "You are so beautiful," making her blush but I sensed her uneasiness, I said, "Don't worry, this is just an admirer." I walked with her talking about the upcoming wedding and coronation and she told me she was nervous but she loves Aidan and will stand by his side, I cornered her and said, "I love you too, Lily and I know it is too late to be with you but I can't help how I feel," before I kissed her pulling her into my arms she was shocked and I took advantage forcing my tongue in her mouth before she pushes me away and said, "My lord, what are you doing?" She looked at me disappointed and ran off before I grabbed her hand and said, "I'm sorry, don't tell Aidan, he won't understand and he won't be with you, he hates betrayal," and she pulled away before running off. I said, "Fuck," to myself and take my hand to rub my hair from front to back knowing I just fucked up, hopefully, she doesn't tell Aidan.

Before the Garden Incident

"Lily, I don’t trust that beta, he seems off," I said to her and she replied, "He is harmless, I don’t know why you get that feeling." “Maybe because he is hitting on his best friend’s mate," Lily smiled and said, "You are overreacting," but I don’t like the way he looks at her. I have been seeing the looks he gave her for weeks and it creeps me out. Hopefully, this will pass as I made my way to the royal seamstress to fit my gown for the coronation and wedding, leaving Lily to attend the private garden she loves so much.

Addy

I have reached the elders and they are creepy wolves, but I have a job to do to save my family. I hate that I am betraying Aidan because I love him, and I have always loved him, but not like I love my mate. Aidan doesn't know I found my mate as they are friends and I would never come between them, but he is king and only he can release me from his ladies in waiting. My mate rejected me when he realized I was one of the king’s ladies and it hurt, but I guess he had no choice. I don't think I have ever accepted his rejection and I barely run into him since that night of rejection, maybe he was avoiding me and my wolf Ella hasn't spoken to me since then. I was in this too deep and If I am caught, I will be executed for treason. “Addy,” Amon said, “Are you ready for the blood moon?” I nodded and stated I had everything I needed for the spell, I left the Elders and returned to my chambers. I was determined to save Aidan’s life and my mate's life, even though he rejected me, I still couldn’t see him die. I still have a week to find a way to save them and I will.
