The Curse (Jesse’s POV)

last update Last Updated: 2025-11-24 21:07:01

When I woke up, the first thing I did without even thinking was reach out and touch the other side of the bed.

Cold. Empty.

She wasn’t there.

My eyes snapped open. A sharp growl ripped from my throat as I sat up, fists clenching so tightly my knuckles cracked.

Where did she run off to?!

The audacity.

The nerve.

Leaving my side after everything… after the bond… after the way she reacted to me.

I summoned my beta through the mindlink, and told him to come now.

He arrived quickly, stepped into the room and raised an eyebrow.

“My king… seems your one true love ran away,” he said, tone annoyingly teasing.

I turned slowly, glaring at him with enough fury to level the entire kingdom.

“How dare she run away like that?!” I snarled. “Where were you?”

Immediately, the playful look vanished from his face. He straightened, voice stiffening.

“My king, I thought you wouldn’t want a single disturbance, so I left for a while. I didn’t know she would..”

“Enough,” I growled, cutting him off.

The bedsheets still held her scent soft, warm, maddening. The scent of a mate fate stole from me for years… and finally delivered only for her to run away the moment I closed my eyes.

It didn’t matter anyways.

I could still trace her.I stood, the possessive heat igniting in my blood.

“If she thinks she can run away from me,” I said, voice low with dark promise, “she must be joking.”

My wolf snarled in agreement, restless and eager.

“Now that I finally have her…” I clenched my jaw, eyes burning. “I’ll never let go of her.”

My beta coughed lightly, and I didn’t even glance back.

“You might want to soften your tone when you see her again,” he said, voice careful but teasing. “So she doesn’t attempt running off all the time.”

I spun on him, glare sharp enough to cut steel.

“Not funny, Alaric.”

He held up his hands, grinning. “My king, you haven’t had a woman since your curse. Maybe she got scared by your… endless vigor,” he said, voice dropping into a mischievous whisper.

“Shut up!” I growled, teeth clenched.

He chuckled, unabashed. “I’m just saying… she’s strong. Feisty. You might want to tread lightly… for once.”

I dismissed my beta with a wave of my hand, the irritation still burning beneath my skin, and as soon as the door closed behind him… the silence swallowed me whole.

My thoughts dragged me backward… to the curse.

Selene.

The most powerful witch of her generation. Though she was only able to curse me because I hadn’t fully harnessed my lycan powers yet.

She thought I killed her lover, so she cursed me in her grief.

A curse meant to make me lose control every full moon, lose myself a little more each year, until eventually I wouldn’t even exist anymore becoming a full monster. During each full moon, I lose myself, my thoughts, my voice, my sanity.

And I feel agonizing pain tearing through every muscle, every vein.

Bones snapping, reforming, burning as if fire crawls beneath my skin.

And when the pain becomes too much… the bloodlust comes.

I try to chain myself.

I try to restrain the beast.

But sometimes the chains snap.

Sometimes the monster inside me gets out.

And sometimes… I kill.

Even when I captured her… even when I chained her and demanded she break it… she refused. Refused adamantly. Refused even as I threatened everything she held dear.

Only later, when her lover’s true killer was revealed… only then did she finally soften. Only then did she offer me something resembling mercy.

But she couldn’t undo it.

All she could give me was a path. A solution, not salvation.

Only my mate could break the curse. And I had searched.

Gods, I had searched.

Countless women.

Noble daughters, rogues, witches, warriors, omegas… I had touched their hands, breathed their scents, waited for something to spark inside me.

But nothing.

No pull.

No heat.

No flicker of connection.

Just emptiness.

Until last night.

The moment I saw her at that auction, collared, trembling, eyes wild with fear and fury all at once, my wolf surged.

A violent, primal anticipation tore through me so fast I nearly shifted right there.

Her scent… gods, her scent was so sweet but fierce, warm but sharp that it hit me like a blow to the chest.

My entire body tightened.

My control snapped.

My wolf roared one word in my skull:

Mate. Mate. Mate.

She has to be the one.

There is no other explanation.

No other possibility.

Fuck.

I must have her.

“Where are you going to?” he asked, falling into step beside me like he had every right to.“None of your business.”“Okay,” he said lightly… yet he still continued walking with me.I clenched my jaw. “Why are you following me?”He shrugged, completely unbothered. “You walk. I walk. Coincidence.”I rolled my eyes so hard it almost hurt. He kept talking. I kept ignoring. And somehow, the idiot still stayed beside me the entire time. When I finally reached the combat room doors, he stopped and burst into a small laugh.“Ohhh, so this is where you’re going,” he said, grin teasing. “You want to train for the First Mating Hunt, right?”I blinked. “First… mating hunt?”“Yes,” he nodded, stepping a little closer, lowering his voice like he was revealing something forbidden. “The First Mating Hunt. Tradition of the kingdom. The Luna must hunt and kill a sacred beast after her mating ceremony. The stronger the creature she brings down, the greater the fortune and prosperity the kingdom receive

The next day, I slowly blinked awake, my body feeling a little sore in all the places he touched last night.I stretched lazily, and the first thing I saw was him—sitting right there beside me, staring at me like he’d been doing it for a while.“Finally awake,” he said, his voice deep, quiet… almost amused.I smiled a little, still groggy. “Yeah…”He leaned closer, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. “You slept like you hadn’t slept for two years...”I scoffed a bit, looking away shyly. “Whose fault is that?”He chuckled lowly. “If you’re blaming me, then blame me properly.”I rolled my eyes but my cheeks were already burning. “You’re unbelievable…”He hummed. “And you’re beautiful.”“I wanted to ask you something…” I murmured, shifting slightly under the blankets. He raised an eyebrow, leaning a little closer. “What’s that?”“I… I want to enroll in combat and healing classes,” I said, my voice soft but firm.“Oh?” His eyes softened slightly, a hint of surprise there, then hi

Next I slipped right into that little mischievous mood bubbling inside me, so I smiled wide, bold — and said loud enough for her to hear. “Yes… I missed you a lot. And right now… I want you to touch me the way you did last night.”The effect was instant. His eyes darkened, heat rushing into them so fast it made my stomach twist. Before I could even blink, he grabbed me by the waist and lifted me effortlessly into his arms.“Right away,” he growled, low enough to melt every thought in my head.My arms wrapped around his shoulders as he carried me off like I weighed nothing, acting like Isabella wasn’t standing right there. And honestly?I felt smug, a deep, satisfied warmth tightening in my chest. We got to the room, and the moment the door shut behind us, he lowered me to my feet. His voice came out low… commanding… almost rough with need.“Undress,” he said. “And wait for me.”My breath caught.I nodded before I could stop myself. He stepped out of the room, and the silence he lef

  • The Lycan King Just Won’t Let Go   Rejection (Jesse’s POV)

“No,” I said, voice flat, decisive. “Ask for something else instead. Traditions are traditions for a reason.”I thought she would argue. I thought she’d push, or insist, because Isabella never backed down from anything — that was what made her so dangerous. But she simply lowered her eyes, hands clasped loosely behind her back, that same calm control radiating off of her.“Alright, your majesty,” she said softly. “Then… if it’s not too much, I would like permission to access the forbidden royal library.”The room changed instantly. Two Elders stiffened. One of them actually inhaled sharply, like the air suddenly became too heavy to breathe.“The forbidden royal library?” I repeated, frowning. “What do you wish to achieve by going there?”Isabella smiled — not wide, not smug, just a small, contained tilt of her lips, like she knew something no one else did.“Your majesty,” she said, voice smooth as silk, “I’m simply curious about some things. It’s the only other thing I want, other tha

The council elders requested an urgent meeting at daybreak.I almost ignored it because all I wanted was to go back to my room and have more sex with Valeria.Fuck.I ran a hand through my hair, frustrated already, because her scent was still on my skin, still in my mouth, pulling me back like a hook. But I forced myself to walk into the council chamber. The eldest elder cleared his throat, long white beard shifting as he spoke.“Your majesty, there’s a serious matter we must discuss.”I sat down, barely listening, because all I could think about was Valeria’s body wrapped around mine a few hours ago.“What is it?” I asked, probably too blunt, but I didn’t care. One elder cleared his throat, shoulders tense.“We don’t understand why the rogues are going out of control all of a sudden,” he said. “And a few packs refuse to obey the new set Lycan laws.”That got my attention.“Which packs?”Another elder stepped forward, hands clasped tightly behind his back.“Fang has publicly rejected

  • The Lycan King Just Won’t Let Go   Hunger (Isabella’s POV )

I slipped into Camilla’s room without even knocking, shutting the door behind me with a soft click. She rushed at me immediately, wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug. “You’re finally here,” she breathed, her voice shaky with anger. “My brother has lost his mind, he actually brought a dormant wolf to become the Luna.” I let out a slow exhale and pulled back, smoothing my hair like I had been interrupted from something far more important. “I just met her,” I said, my tone flat, unimpressed. “Was she why you told me to come back so urgently? She’s not worth the fret.” Camilla shook her head, frustration burning behind her eyes. “Bella, my brother loves her a lot, and she’s taken your position…” I laughed, cold and low, the sound slicing the air like ice cracking. “She cannot take my position,” I said, each word precise, dripping with disdain. “She’s nothing but trash. Getting rid of her wouldn’t be hard.” Camilla leaned in, hope flickering through her expression. “Do you
