Yvonne rose a red brow at me. "You've been staring at me for the past one hour..."

I puffed my cheeks, looking away.

"Anything wrong?"

"No." Just that I wanted to see if I could get access to your memories and possibly control your mind.

Slowly she said, "Okay..."

A sigh escaped me. Maybe I could not use my gifts at will but only when my emotions were at their highest. In order words, they were adrenaline based.

Because the first time I'd used them on Lan, which was when I re-lived his memories, I'd been over my head with desire, and then furious at the inevitable prospect that he'd treat me like garbage once he got back to his senses.

Then the second time... I shivered at the memory of Lan's nine-foot tall beast. I'd been scared shitless. My throat tightened to think of last night. I wondered if he had later regained control over his mind, and wondered also if he remembered everything that happened. I hoped he didn't.

If he remembered I used my powers on him, well, I was done for.

A
