Chapter 30

The next week had me fussing over the metal band around my neck. Turning this way and that before the mirror, I took in the restraint with no little amount of frustration. This had to go. If it didn't, then I wouldn't either.

Hecate had to know this was going to happen, so I had to wonder why she'd even given me my gift in the first place--a gift that'll prove useless in the grand scheme of things. Surely she hadn't given it to me because she wanted me to spy into Lan's memories? To see that at some point he was merely an innocent boy...

Until something changed him, and I would give anything to know what it was exactly.
