I couldn't take my eyes off the valley. Though the rider had vanished among the sea of soldiers, his words would not fade from my head.

"At sunrise... choose between your crown... or your kingdom."

The silence around me felt heavier than the battle itself. No one celebrated surviving the attack. No one said anything.

The enemy was not gone. They were waiting, still waiting for me.

Kael gently touched my shoulder.

"We should go inside."

  • The Lycan King Who Claimed Me   The Truth Before The Flames

The chamber fell into complete silence. The four flames hovered before us, unmoving. Mine shone with a soft silver light. Kael's burned like liquid gold. Selene shone radiant white. Malachar's flickered an angry crimson. Once more, the ancient voice echoed."Speak one truth you have never spoken aloud. Only then shall the Silver Flame judge your hearts." I looked at Kael. He looked back at me, calm despite everything. Malachar folded his arms."So this is the great trial." His voice was filled with scorn."You expect us to confess our feelings to a flame?" The chamber rumbled. The ancient voice responded to him."Mock the trial once more... And lose the right to stand before it." Malachar went quiet. For the first time, he appeared uncertain. The Silver Flame moved toward Selene."Speak." Selene gazed for several seconds at the white fire. Her

My heart lurched. Malachar's voice drifted down the staircase with terrifying calm, as if he were taking a leisurely walk instead of hunting us."Well..." he added once more. "...I was wondering where the Queen had disappeared to." The silver flame flickered violently. Kael moved in front of me, his sword already raised."Stay behind me." I swallowed and nodded, clutching my mother's journal tightly against my chest. Heavy footsteps echoed closer. Malachar then rose out of the darkness. His crimson cloak brushed against the ancient stone floor as his cold eyes swept across the chamber. His grin vanished when he spotted the Silver Flame."So..." He said softly."It actually exists." His gaze gradually swung to me."You already know more than I had hoped." I forced myself to meet his gaze."You're not taking it." He chuckled quietly."My Queen... I don't need t

  • The Lycan King Who Claimed Me   Echoes of the Past

The silver flame flickered and I couldn't look away. Its light spread across the chamber like ripples on still water, washing over the ancient stone walls. One by one clear figures started to materialize. A woman draped in silver robes, a man wearing a royal crown and soldiers lining the edges of the room. No one them seemed to notice us."They can't see us," I whispered. Kael came close to me."No. These are memories." I slowly approached them. The lady in the middle of the room seemed quite recognizable. One side of her silvery hair cascaded down and on her head sat a crown in the shape of a crescent. It was Queen Lyra. But she seemed younger than she did in the Hall of Kings. She was not alone. Astraeus was standing next to her. Not like the wounded Guardian I know. His eyes were full of life and his silver scales shone fiercely. Seeing him like this broke my heart. A gentle voice echoed around the room."This

  • The Lycan King Who Claimed Me   The Chamber of Echoes

I couldn't stop staring at the map. The words my mother had written echoed over and over in my mind. When the castle stands on the edge of ruin, seek the Chamber of Echoes and trust no one until you find the Silver Flame. The castle was already on the edge of ruin. I gently shut the diary and held it against my chest."Kael." He turned to look at me."I think my mother knew this day would come." His expression softened."I believe she did." I unfolded the map again and studied every line by the light of the lantern. Most of the castle had been precisely sketched. One passage, however, drew my interest. It wasn't marked on any map I'd seen before. A narrow passageway tucked behind the western wing. At the end of it was a silver circle. Underneath, my mom had written two words.'Echoes Wait.'"I have to find this place." Kael looked at the map."Then we'll go." I shook my head."My

  • The Lycan King Who Claimed Me   The Moon's Chosen

"The Moon has chosen its King." Rowan's words echoed in my ears. I stared at the golden mark glowing faintly on the inside of Kael's wrist. Then I checked my other arm. The silvery Moon Marks glistened under my skin then faded down gradually, but they didn't go totally."What does that mean?" I whispered gently. Rowan hesitated. Rather, he moved toward us, his gaze set on the identical markings."I hoped I would never live long enough to see this again." Kael frowned."Again?" Rowan nodded."The last time these marks appeared..." His voice grew distant."...was on your parents" My heart skipped."My parents?" He nodded."The Moon Bond only appears when the Moon itself acknowledges two rulers whose destinies are intertwined." I swallowed."So..." I turned to look at Kael."It doesn't necessarily mean..." Rowan smiled gently."No. It doesn't force love. It recognizes

The silence around me felt heavier than the battle itself. No one celebrated surviving the attack. No one said anything. The enemy was not gone. They were waiting, still waiting for me. Kael gently touched my shoulder."We should go inside." I nodded. My legs felt unusually heavy as we walked across the ruined courtyard. Everywhere I turned, warriors were carrying wounded. Some sat on broken walls while doctors bound their wounds. Others combed the ruins searching for survivors. My heart tightened. I was the cause of all this. As if sensing my thoughts, Kael stopped walking."None of this is your fault."This is not your wrongdoing. I looked at him. "My presence dr
