Chapter 7
YRENE’S POV We were right on the golf field which was the place they turned out to pick, out of other fun places one could possibly be in. I sat down on the grass, with my chin, resting on both knees. Merely looking at them smiling, and having fun was a bit torturing for me as they looked handsome, and alluring. I let out an exhausted sigh, and looked away to stop myself from being tortured. Then I thought about my mother. I really desired to see her, and see how she’s faring, especially that they said they had gotten a professional nurse for her. I would have to check on my mother as soon as I have the chance to. I would also love to see how her treatment is being processed. Suddenly, my phone rang, and I brought it out of my pocket. It was Francesca who was calling me. I wanted to ignore the call, but I decided not to, on a second thought. Moreover, the triplets were having fun. It’s not bad if I also answered my best friend’s call, and probably talk about things that would occupy my mind as well. “Hey, Francesca. What’s up?” I lightened my face up with a smile. “Please come over, right now.” She said hurriedly, and hung up. I was alarmed, and was baffled. What exactly was going on? Out of fear of what could be happening, I called her back, but her number was no longer reachable. “Shit!” I cursed, under my breath. Then I stood up immediately, and glanced at the triplets. They looked too much in fun to notice if I leave, so, I can easily leave, and hopefully I get back before they notice I was gone. I ran as fast as I could, across the golf field, and towards the exit. As soon as I got out, I looked around for a taxi. “Taxi, taxi.” I hailed a cab, and when it pulled up in front of me, I got in. I gave him the address, and restlessly sat in the car, looking out at the window. Several thoughts went through my mind, and I could barely think right. What exactly could have happened? There was no way it would be nothing for me not to worry about, because she wouldn’t have spoken in that tone. “Can you please speed up a little?” I voiced out pleadingly to the driver. “I can’t go over the speed limits, miss. You shouldn’t be too much in a hurry. You know, that’s why a lot of people encounter accidents, just because they are trying to hurry up on the road, and not focusing on red flags that could result to accidents.” The cab driver looked like one who was almost getting to his fifties, and that was understandable on why he was talking so much and being really careful. I had no choice than to be calm, and patiently wait until we got to Francesca, although, that seemed like it was going to take years. Soon, I was dropped off at Francesca’s house, and as soon as I paid the man his money, I rushed towards the front porch and knocked on the door hastily. “Who’s there?” I heard her mother voice out. “It’s Yrene ma’am. Is Francesca okay?” I asked, out of concern. The door opened, and her mom wore an apron, and she was holding a big spoon. I looked a bit baffled, and looked past her. I didn’t see any sign of Francesca being home, and I wasn’t certain if her mom knew anything about the urgent matter, so it was best not to spill. “Uhm… Is Francesca at home” I asked calmly, trying not to get her suspicious. “No. She actually said when you get here, you should see her at your usual spot.” She informed me with a smile. “Oh… Alright, thanks.” I said to her, then hurried along to the café. The café was our usual spot around this place. So, I ran as fast as I could, since it wasn’t too far from here, and when I got to the café, I sighted her, drinking chilled cola. But her expression didn’t seem like someone who was in an urgent situation. This was very confusing for me, and the only way to find out what exactly was going on, was to ask her. I sat down opposite her, and her face brightened up with an excited smile. “Yrene, you’re here. It took you long enough.” She pouted, and folded her arms. Usually, I would have laughed a little, and joked about it, but I was in no situation to do that. “Wait, you called me. And…and you spoke like you were in trouble. That’s why I rushed over here. What exactly is going on?” I demanded, beginning to feel cranky. “Take a chill pill, Yrene. I called you because I have missed you, and I know you may not come to see me if I asked you to, probably because you might be tired.” “Oh, goodness! You just pushed me into trouble. How could you even think of doing that without confirming if I am in the right state for something like this!” I yelled at her, and ruffled my hair. It was as if I had lost in two places. Francesca whom I thought had an urgent situation and had to sneak out of the triplets’ fun game, for, only called me out just to see him. And the triplets could have noticed by now that I was no longer in their midst. “What’s going on? Was something going on before I called?” She asked, out of concern. I was a bit nervous, but I couldn’t get angry at her, because I knew she was only after my welfare. “You know what, I’ll get back to you later. I have to go now.” I said to her, and rushed out of the café. My phone beeped, and I managed to get it out of my back pocket as I continued running, and when I unlocked it, horror filled me as I saw a message from Reece. “You dared sneak out. Well, you’ll have to pay for this. Just get yourself back here.” Horror filled me, and my blood went cold in a rush. What mistake did I just make?YRENE'S POV.Photos, and posts of the damage done, was published in articles, and uploaded on all social media. There was no account I logged into that the news didn't get to.The attack that had taken place the next day was even worse than the first. The school had taken precautionary measures, and had advised the students to stay in their homes. I kept on being dragged on various platforms, but wasn't concerned about that. My concern was the timing of the rogues. How could such, begin to happen immediately the triplets became pack leaders? Of course, it was bound to make the people think the triplets weren't capable of handling the affairs of the Kingdom. It didn't stop there. The rogues continued to attack comtinously for almost a week. I had healed in that time, but preferred staying in the hospital because I was scared they would find me again, and try to kill me. And it had taken persuasions from the triplets, before I agreed to leave the hospital. However, as we prepared to l
EILEEN'S POV.After the ceremony, I congratulated the brothers briefly. I had an important appointment with my father, and some men, so I gave the triplets the excuse of wanting to relay the news of them becoming pack leaders, to my father personally. So they let me go, without raising questions . Even though the triplets didn't have any problems with me leaving when the Palace was in the middle of celebrating, Yrene seemed to have a problem with it. She alone, seemed to question me with her eyes, but I ignored her.I left the Palace, got into my car, and zoomed off. When I got home, my father was already waiting for me, and we walked into a dark room together. My father sat opposite me, and gave a signal to a maid. She left the room, and when she returned, she was with a few men. They walked in and a single candle was lit, although they couldn't see us, as we were separated by a light fabric hanging from the ceiling.I crossed my legs, and folded my arms as they walked in. "Alrigh
YRENE'S POV. I had been really hurt when the brothers had refused to listen to me. I knew it was only because they were sad, but I couldn't help feeling hurt. Ethan had not even said a word, rather he had covered himself up with the blankets like he didn't want to see me… like I had come to spout nonsense. Kaden also looked like I was just hating on Eileen for no reason. However sad they were, didn't they see it was quite weird for Eileen to throw a photo of their father into the bin? She had absolutely no rights to do so. Didn't they feel bad? If their father had been alive, would they have liked to see Eileen dump his photo just like that? Like it was trash? No matter how I tried, I couldn't understand the decision of the triplets to simply overlook Eileen throwing their father's photo into the bin. When the sky got lighter, I went down the stairs to prepare something for the triplets to eat, but they were already down in the dining room, eating cheese and bacon, which Eileen had
YRENE'S POV. Why would Eileen throw a photo of the late Alpha into the bin? It all made sense to me. Eileen had to know something about the Alpha's demise. She could not just throw the Alpha's photo away, when she knew how much the triplets were grieving because of him. It only meant she wasn't bothered by his death, and her not being bothered, definitely meant she had something to do with it.I just could not find another reason to take my suspicions off her. Even in the little time I knew her, Eileen was someone that went crazy whenever things didn't go her way.I knew she would do anything to get what she wanted. I just wasn't sure if she would go as far as murder. Whatever she had done, the triplets weren't safe, spending long hours with her. And I was going to let them know. I took the photo with me, and stormed to their room, but on getting there, I had second thoughts. It was late at night, and I didn't want to wake them if they had slept. Being awake was a kind of misery
KADEN'S POV.For days, I and the twins stayed in our father's room. We didn't touch anything, nor did we speak to each other. We just sat there, having memories of our father flit in and out of our heads. The memories were so painful. Why was it that when a person died, almost every memory shared with that person came to mind? And why were the happy memories tainted with sadness? From the start, our father was everything to us. He took us out to places, and tried to be there for us whenever we needed him. Sometimes, he had been strict, but we never stopped loving him. Other times, he was too busy, but he always kept his word. Whenever he promised to take us somewhere, show up at school, or spend days with us, he neglected everything that had to do with work, and kept his word. We all knew how much it had cost him to put a stop to our mating ceremony with Eileen, yet he didn't resent us, or get angry. He had thrown it all away for our sakes, and had been happy to see us happy. Days
ETHAN'S POV.We were having rice, and crab soup, with a few side dishes, comprising of seafood when a call from my dad came in."Hey Dad…""Young Master…" A maid's trembling voice came from his phone, and I wondered why she was using my dad's phone. The audacity…No matter what happened, she didn't have the rights to touch my dad's phone. "Why are you…?""The Alpha's dead.""What!?" I asked, getting up from my seat. She had to be playing a really expensive joke. "He had an heart attack, and died right in front of my eyes." She cried."Wh… what!?" It was hard to believe. No, I couldn't believe it. There was no way I could believe the shit she was saying! How could my father, who we had seen hale and hearty the previous day, suddenly die of a heart attack?"They… they've rushed him to the hospital, and I had to inform you…"I threw my phone to the floor. I didn't want to hear what she was saying anymore. She was saying nonsense. She didn't know what she was saying.Yet, I knew… I knew
