The side of Kylan’s lips trembled as he forced a smile. “I’m—”

“Don’t do that,” I cut in quickly.

The words came sharper than intended, but I couldn’t take them back. I didn’t want him to give me that smile, that shield, to lock me out again while I knew he wasn’t himself at the moment.

I leaned closer across the table. “We haven’t talked about what happened, and you haven’t even asked me why I went with your brother yesterday,” I told him. “There’s a lot of pain we haven’t processed, and I know you went to visit Nate…and that it didn’t go well.”

Kylan swallowed hard, his throat shifting at the last words. Even hearing about it seemed to be hard for him.

I exhaled. “Although we were still learning, our communication seemed to be getting better,” I said. “But with everything that’s been going on…it feels like we’re slowly moving backwards again.”

Kylan dropped his gaze to the table as if it would somehow save him from having this conversation.

“I think we need to discuss this,”

  • The Lycan Prince’s Puppy   Chapter 309

VioletKaelis hummed a tune the entire way down the path, her face showing not a single worry. I looked at her from the corner of my eye. She looked so calm, happy. Her braid swung behind her while she balanced the big, heavy pot in her hands.I guess one could say I was the complete opposite. My chest felt tight, and my mind was a mess.Because while for Kaelis this was nothing more than a visit to a sick friend, it was different for me. I knew this talk could go both ways. It could either heal something or shatter it beyond repair, and that was okay, but I needed something to happen. Anything, so I could move on.I really wished Kylan would’ve come so he could’ve done the same. Sometimes pain was necessary to move on, but I would lie if I said it wouldn’t be my dream to heal something. The more we walked, the more my mind went to Nate. What would he say when he saw me?Would he even look at me?The image of his face when we last saw each other kept flashing through my mind, and as a

VioletWhen the bright light faded, I was no longer in the bathroom.Instead, I found myself in the woods. My feet pressed against the grass, everything was too quiet, and as I looked around, there was not even a bird in sight. It was the kind of silence that made me question what I was even doing here.I felt a chill down my spine, and my heart thudded against my chest. I didn’t know what this place was, but at the same time…I did. The trees, the moss, the faintly golden sky above. It all looked so familiar…Turning slowly, I took it all in, until it hit me so hard I nearly forgot how to breathe. This was the Bloodrose…But what was I doing here? How did I get here? Before I could understand why or how, a little girl ran past me, her long blonde hair swaying side to side. She looked so small, adorable, and was probably no older than seven. Then a voice followed.“Violet!”Once again, I turned around, and my heart skipped. I recognized that voice because how could I not? From behind t

VioletNate said that?If that’s the way he felt about him, did he feel the same about me?“You’re not Kylan, Violet. You’re…Violet.” Dylan mumbled. “Nate never mentioned you.”I drew in a breath. “I’ve been meaning to visit him, too, and I am going to, because I have to. But I’m not sure he wants to see me.”“Why wouldn’t he want to see you?” Dylan asked, frowning.I shrugged, not ready to answer the obvious. We could sit here and lie about everything, but Nate had been very obvious in the woods. He didn’t want to see me.“I just feel bad for Kylan,” I said. “I’m sure he went there with the right intentions, but deep down I’m also certain he might’ve gone with the wrong words…and that’s why I wanted to go with him.”Dylan chuckled, shaking his head. “That’s really something he’s got to do on his own. You should just worry about what you are going to do.”“Yes,” I said, my voice quiet. “But still…”I also walked around with guilt. Everything seemed to be perfectly fine between those t

VioletI sat against the headboard, my eyes on Kylan while he slept. It wasn’t even midnight yet, and for him that was strange. He never slept this early, not unless exhaustion forced him.Unlike the earlier hours, his breathing was even, and his face was finally at rest. But I knew all too well that rest didn’t come easily to him, not with everything going on.Luckily, one of us managed to get some sleep, because I couldn’t close an eye myself. These past days, it had been Kylan who helped me drift off, comforting me, refusing to rest until he was sure I had. But tonight I knew I wouldn’t. The fear of Baelor still lingered. What if he was waiting for me in my dream?I let out a sigh, my eyes falling from my bare neck to the necklace resting on the nightstand. My thoughts went back to earlier. I had told Kylan what the king said when he placed it around me, but he wasn’t impressed. He had taken it from me even quicker than Kayden, and his words had been very clear.‘I would rather hav

Kylan“I hate you so much I’ve spent years dreaming about the day you’ll die, imagining the way I’ll dance on your grave. And I need to practice first, you know why?”“No. Tell me,” I growled.“Because I haven’t danced in years because of you. I haven’t been able to do anything because of you and that selfish choice you made!”His scream filled the air, his breath heavy. Everything that left his mouth hurt, but it also felt good because I had to hear it from him. I should’ve heard it from him years ago.And even then…I had to remind myself not to lose my cool, as I didn’t want to let him win.“But I do not want to kill you, Kylan,” Kayden said, shaking his head. “I do not want to kill you because you’re my brother…the brother I once looked up to.”“Wow,” I said with a dry laugh. “Aren’t I lucky?”“I wanted to die,” Kayden admitted. “But the thing that kept me alive was watching you fall apart. Watching you go down on your knees, crying like a little bitch, begging for forgiveness, and
