LOGINEmilia POV
"Are you always this nervous or is it because of me ?" Wesley asked, his tone dead serious as he wore a straight expression staring at me.
The words struck me like a knife seeping into my bones.
My heart thumped wildly in my chest as heat flooded through my skin making my stomach churn.
Silence filled the air as the words echoed in the room sending chills down me.
I felt bile rise up my throat , swallowing hard as I adjusted the strap of my bag and for a moment I felt I would throw up.
‘What ?” I asked furrowing my brows , lifting my gaze ,meeting his piercing deep eyes sending shivers down my spine.
“Are you sure ?” he asked with concern, narrowing his eyes with a flicker of confusion swirling in his gaze.
Fear zapped through my body , his voice sparkled with a hint of concern yet dangerous as I shook my head vigorously.
I forced a tight smile even though doubt pricked at me like needles beneath my skin.
“No” I replied trying to sound as he rolled his eyes at me with his gaze stretching into a frown.
He gritted his teeth, his face covered in a scowl settling on his features unable to believe his ears shifting to my emotionless face.
Suddenly,he leaned slightly
“You smell different “ he said sniffing my scent lingering around me trying to track the scent around me which made my heart race.
My smell was addictive as he couldn't get the scent which made him uneasy making me panic.
My eyes widened as I snapped my gaze away feeling a rush of adrenaline mingle with my nerves.
I bolted to my feet, stepping back with beads of sweat layered on my forehead as he glanced at me.
“I need some air “ I blurted out, my chest heaving as I glared at him dashing out of the classroom.
My blood runs colder, registering the gravity of his words.
Every word he said was like an arrow piercing through me as my chest tightened with emotion .
“ What is going on with me ?” I asked myself taking a deep breath as my heart was hammering against the wall of my chest.
As soon as I rounded the corner,a familiar voice stopped me in my tracks.
I recognized the voice,it belonged to Chloe .
She glanced at me briefly , thrusting her lipgloss into her pocket chuckling bitterly at me.
There was nothing in her eyes, only resentment .
She folded her arms underneath her chest and turned to me blocking my path.
“Got partnered with Wesley ?”She asked ,her eyes darkening like storm clouds with a grin spreading across her cheeks standing in front of me .
My heart constricted at the sound of her voice.
She has never liked me from the first day I set my feet into this school.
“Lucky you ?” She sneered, her words dripping with sarcasm tasting like metal on her tongue cracking through the air like a whip.
“I don't want trouble, “ I whispered in a low tone, corking my right brow at her.
“But oh you are trouble “ she said flashing me a wicked smile and my heart twisted in my chest.
My breath ceased and my heart stopped to beat immediately as I registered those cruel words.
I swallowed hard, my chest rising as her high pitched voice scraped my ears with contempt .
“Taking things that don't belong to you is that how you behave?, “ she asked, corking an eyebrow at me,her voice dripping with irritation.
I blinked at her, surprised at the sudden question she threw at me.
“Listen, maybe we don't need to be so aggressive “ she whispered, her tone softening at me.
I was taken aback by the sudden contrast in her behavior.
“Let's make a deal” she suggested ,her lips crooking into a smirk with a smug look on her face.
My eyes widened in disbelief at her words.
“What deal ?” I asked, staring deeply into her eyes, not understanding what she was up to.
The air between us felt utterly suffocating.
“You give up your spot with Wesley and I will make sure nobody bothers you “ she said with a timid smile that didn't reach her eyes.
I rolled my eyes as her mock glared at me.
“Maybe I will even be your friend, “ she replied, pressing me hard, pacing around me back and forth like a predator circling his prey .
A fresh wave of tremors coursed through my body.
I swallowed hard, lifting my chin to look at her with silence stretching between us.
A bitter laugh nearly escaped my lips but I suppressed the gasp .
‘A friend or another leash around my neck, ' I thought to myself ,her words echoing painfully in my chest which was a stark reminder of the humiliation I was going to endure.
“Think it over but not for too long “ she said, her nose flaring up with disgust laced in her tone.
“I don't have very much patience “ she continued
“It's the easy choice “ I thought to myself after a long pause.
I can walk away from all this madness but can I really let go of Wesley “ That was the question burning on my lips as I stared down at her.
“Okay I will give up the partnership “ I mumbled after a long moment of silence and her smile brightened.
Relief washed through her face .
“I can't control Wesley if he decides to…. “ I stammered trying to find the right words but before I could finish my sentence, she cut me off without battling an eye.
“Excuse me ?” She snarled, clenching her teeth in anger slightly unhappy with my response.
“Wesley is my mate” she warned coldly, hissing at me with brutality lurking in her eyes.
I paused, parting my lips in surprise as my mouth fell open at her words.
She curled her fists around my neck in a tight grip, her eyes gleaming at me with disgust with pain ripping through my body.
My stomach dropped .
“Why do you think he will choose you over me ?” She snapped ,her voice swelling in anger darting her eyes around the empty hallway.
“Liar he is ours say it “ my wolf whimpered in my head ,her words echoing like a recorder .
“You have nothing to worry about then” I whispered,my voice echoing sharply in the air breaking through the tension.
For a moment, she was too stunned to speak ,her jaw tightened as her face twisted in fury.
“You will regret this” she declared coldly as she walked away leaving me behind.
