Zella's POV

The house was quiet when I got back. There was a kind of calm that tells you to expect a storm. I dropped my backpack by the stairs.

“In the study. Now.”

Valour called from the doorway, unexpectedly calmly. At that point I just knew he had already made up his mind.

Carina was sitting on the leather sofa with a glass of some kind of clear drink in her hand. She wasn’t looking at me, though. Lizzie, on the other hand, was leaning on the arm of the sofa, grinning from ear to ear l

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    A GAME OF CHANCE

Zella's POV The shop owner didn't waste any time. He took the hundred dollars and moved the ugly stone to the cutting machine in the center of the room. A small group of people had gathered inside the shop to witness the process –this often happens on the stone street, when someone is cutting a stone, apart from the fact that they could benefit from making friends with the owner, if it turns out to be a valuable jade, people also enjoy watching spectacular failure. Either way, they’re entertained. "Be careful with it," Lizzie commanded, standing as close to the machine as she could without getting sprayed with water. "I don't want any cracks in the jade." Mike leaned against a shelf next to me, with a faint smile on his lips. "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" he whispered. "I have no idea what you're talking about," I replied, though I couldn't hide much, the slight grin on my face. The machine started to cut through stone, chipping away at it, bit by bit. Lizzie was almos

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    BAITING THE FOOL

(Zella’s POV) I was walking through the crowded market of the Stone Trading Center, trying my best to act like I care about nothing in the world. Everywhere was smelling of tobacco and mixed with the pitching sound of the stone cutting machines from the back of the shops. Mike was walking right beside me, with his hands in his pockets, looking like he was just bored out of his mind. But I knew he was watching everyone, especially the two people following us like hungry ghosts. Lizzie was practically glued to Dave’s side. She had this look of overrated confidence. A kind of look you have when a race hasn’t even started yet, but you already think you’ve won. She was busy tugging at Dave’s shirt every second, laughing at things that aren’t even funny. But I caught her glance occasionally at me, trying to see if I was watching. "Just ignore them," Mike whispered, leaning down so much that his mouth was right next to my ear. "She’s probably trying to get to you. Don't give her the sati

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    TWO FACED DEMON

Zella’s POV The Two-Faced Demon is the one in charge of gambling. It is called two-faced because in the blink of an eye, it could make a beggar the wealthiest man on earth, and in the same second, make the wealthiest man on earth a beggar. This was the demon I sought to face next. It’s either it destroys me or I tame it and own it. And I have decided to use the Jade Stone business as a tool. It was a new week. For most people, it was just another week to do the same things over again; for some, it’s a chance to start something new and fresh, but for me, it’s another day and another week to grow and close in on my targets. “Hahaha… yeah, right, 200 mill—wait, $200 MILLION?! YOU MEAN A STONE CUT FROM THIS DUMP IS VALUED AT $200 MILLION?!” Mike screamed, his veins almost popping out of his head. It wasn’t easy to believe, though, that an ordinary street like this could yield such an amount of money. It looked rough, with workers pushing carts and trucks of stones back and forth. “Yo

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE?

DAVE’S POV "What do you think you’re doing boy? You think you’re grown now that our opinions don’t matter to you anymore? That you can just make decisions?" Father yelled. SMASH! *drip drip* Blood streaked and dripped across my face as a shard of the broken porcelain father smashed grazed me. “Hehe. The classic, play-the-victim card. So this is the best she could do. Run to my parents and whine like the swine she is?” I sighed, and continued, still muttering to myself. “I guess this is what she meant by ‘I will regret this’ huh?” “What is that smile on your face for and what are you murmuring huh? I didn’t raise you to be a coward, so whatever you have to say, say it to my face!” Father added, angrily. “Hehehe. Raise me huh?” I scoffed. “ Dad look, I have no interest in marrying that girl, I still don’t understand why there’s so much fuss about it. And why exactly my inheritance is tied to that ridiculous clause. Why is my life decided without a single opinion from me.” Father

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    ARE YOU HUMAN?

Zella's POV I stood at the entrance of my house, and for a second, I thought I had actually walked into the wrong building. My jaw literally dropped. This place was a total wreck just a few hours ago -broken glass everywhere, doors almost falling off their hinges, and the kind of smell that makes you want to hold your breath forever. Now? It looked like a showroom for some high-end tech billionaire. The doors were solid, heavy oak with new standard frames, and crystal clear windows. I walked further in, my sneakers squeaking on the polished floors. There were gadgets I didn’t even recognize -sleek, silver consoles and advanced sensored lighting that followed my movement. I sighed heavily in surprise. "Seriously, this system is supernatural. How did it do all this? I was just a door away and I didn't hear a single hammer or a drill. Not even a floorboard creaking." "Welcome home, Miss Zella," a voice said. I nearly jumped out of my skin. The sound came from almost everywhere. "Who

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    THE ART OF THE DEAL

Zella’s POV Everything about Mike gave me the creeps. He sat there in that revolving chair, looking way too proud of himself, like he had just solved the world’s biggest puzzle. I looked at the photo on his desk and it was me in Lizzie’s red dress from the day I saved that old man. I tried to keep my face flat, but inside, I was already calculating how many ways I could make him disappear. "I’m going to be frank with you," Mike said, his voice dripping with that fake reporter honesty. "I’m thinking of writing an article about you". I laughed a dry laugh and pointed at myself, acting like I didn't get it. "Me? I’m just a high school student. Don’t you have real news to chase?". "I’m smart, Zella. I could be famous whenever I want," he boasted, leaning back. "But you... my sixth sense is screaming at me to find out everything about you. Everything!". He pulled out a file. It was full of my old pictures --the ones from when I was a nobody. "This Zella is ordinary," he said, tossi
