For the next few days, I remained locked in the house, not leaving for anything except to run to the grocery store or to get essentials. It was a peaceful time spent with my younger siblings, without worry of running into a certain alpha that I had no interest in seeing.
By day three of my isolation, I began to feel antsy, which is what led to me and the kids finding ourselves at the amusement park. After much begging on the twins' part, we had decided to go, though overly crowded places like this always made me nervous.
"Look, Thia!" Chloe beamed, tugging on my arm.
Letting my gaze drift towards where she pointed, I found a large rollercoaster with many flashing lights.
"Leah, I’m going to break this glass and I need you to get out of here with the twins." I said, yanking off my shirt and wrapping it around my elbow. "Don’t argue with me." I continued as Leah opened her mouth to speak."What about you, Thia?" Theo asked, fixing his scared eyes on me. "You’re going to come with us, right?""That’s right, I’ll be right behind you, sweetie." I murmured, kissing his forehead. "Now, Leah shift!"Turning, I looked towards the glass that was facing the ferris wheel poles. That was the one that I needed to break to make an exit for Leah and the twins.Moving forward
"Leah…" I said, slowly trying to process what she said. "Who took them?"There were quite a few possibilities for who would have the twins. Was it the dark mages? The rogue lycans? Or could it be the mastermind behind them all?"The Lycans." Leah responded, beginning to try to sit up. "Fuck, that hurts."Confused I looked over Leah’s body, trying to figure out where she was hurt. It was only when I checked her back that I saw the five long gashes already beginning to heal across it."Don’t move." I hissed, unwrapping my shirt from around my arm where it was still wrapped. "Those look painful."
Ashton and I stood by the edge of a babbling brook, dipping our hands in the mud along its edge. Slowly, we spread it across our skin, being sure to use enough to cover the skin of our arms and faces."Do you think this will work?" I asked as doubt began to claw at me. "We don’t know how many are in there.""Do you have a better idea?" Ashton snapped in annoyance. "Weren’t you the one that said that there wasn’t any time to waste?"He was right. I was the one that was insistent. I didn’t know if the twins were okay, and I needed to see them with my own eyes. I still couldn’t understand why someone would even want to kidnap them; they weren’t even part of
I waited with Ashton as smoke billowed into the cave in front of us. From within, we could hear growls and hissed conversation."Here they come." Ashton whispered. "Best to shift before they arrive.""Right."Turning away from Ashton, I began to pull off my dirty clothes and place them on the ground beside me. I would need something to put on once this was all finished, because there was no way in hell that I was going to be naked for a long time with Ashton. From behind, I could hear a slight rumble, causing me to peek and find Ashton eyeing my ass and bare back.
"What the hell happened here?" Ashton asked, bending down to pick up the twins who were still fast asleep. After the battle was over and it was safe, Ashton and I shifted back to our human forms. Though I had my clothes, Ashton didn't, and I was having a really hard time not looking at him in all his glory."I don’t know." I admitted, furrowing my brows. The twins didn’t even stir as Ashton positioned them in each of his arms. They must have been exhausted after that whole ordeal, and we would have to wait for answers."Come on." Ashton called over his shoulder at me.
I continued to stare out into the dark street, waiting. Within a few minutes, a figure began to make its way towards me."Who is that?" Ashton asked, coming up beside me. "It doesn’t smell like anyone we know."Didn’t smell like someone we knew? Did that mean that it was someone trying to sneak up on my home? Not thinking, I found myself leaping over the banister of my porch and landing on the grass beyond. Surging forward, I prepared to tackle whoever it was until two bright caramel eyes met me."Andrew?" I gasped, stopping in my tracks. "Why are you here?"
Haidan and Antoine showed up shortly after Andrew left with Serenity in tow. I immediately felt bad for disturbing them when they had a newborn to care for."Are you okay?" Haidan asked, quickly rushing forward and grabbing my arms. "How about your sibling’s?""Everyone is fine." I assured her with a smile. "I’m sorry to have disturbed you.""Nonsense." Haidan snapped, cutting me off before I could say more. "I am an alpha and you are a member of my pack."Maybe that was the case, but I still felt bad involving her."Now, why don&
"What did you just say?" Haidan asked, her eyes growing wide. "Did you say the twins fused?"Everyone around the room eyed me as if I had grown a second head. Well, everyone except Ashton, who had witnessed it for himself. Leah, who sat on the floor with her knees pulled to her chest, looked like she was about to be sick from the news."The twins, they changed?" She squeaked. "But, don’t we experience our first change at 16?""Usually." I confirmed with a sigh. "It seems that the twins may be a special case."There had never been twin lycans before; they were usually born at least a year apart. Maybe this was n
