The Asher's secret

Chapter 3: The Asher's secret.

Asher nodded. "Yes. But there's more to it than that. Lycans are a bit different from what you might expect. We're not just mindless beasts who transform under the full moon like most werewolves. We have control over our transformations, "

Skylar didn't know what to say. She had heard stories about lycans before, Lycans and werewolves were enemies, but she never thought she would actually meet one.

"I know this is a lot to take in," Asher continued. "But I wanted to be honest with you. I care about you, Skylar. And I didn't want to keep this from you any longer."

Skylar felt a mix of confusion and fear. She wasn't sure if she could trust Asher anymore. But at the same time, she couldn't deny the feelings she had for him.

"I... I need some time to think," she said, standing up from the couch. "I'm sorry, Asher. I just need some space."

Asher nodded, looking crestfallen. "I understand. But please know that I'm here for you, no matter what."

As Skylar left Asher's apartment, she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. She didn't know if she could handle the truth about Asher being a lycan. But at the same time, she couldn't deny the strong connection she felt towards him.

As she walked home, Skylar knew that she had a lot to think about. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that her life would never be the same again.

Still in the shadows, the red-haired girl watched Skylar walk out of Asher's house in disarray.

She had been keeping an eye on Asher for a while now, and she knew that Skylar was a new addition to his life. The girl had seen the way Asher looked at Skylar, and she could sense the attraction between them.

But the red-haired girl also knew the dangers of getting involved with a lycan. She had seen the destruction and chaos they could bring, and she didn't want Asher to suffer the same fate.

As Skylar walked further away, the red-haired girl stepped out of the shadows and followed her from a distance. She wanted to keep an eye on her.

Skylar, however, had no idea that she was being followed. She continued to walk, lost in her thoughts, until she reached her apartment building. She entered the building and rode the elevator up to her floor, still unaware of the red-haired girl's presence.

But the red-haired girl didn't leave. She lingered outside the building, watching over Skylar as she entered her apartment.

The next day, Skylar decided to call Asher. She needed to talk to him, to know more about his secret.

"Hey, Asher. It's me, Skylar," she said, her voice shaking slightly.

"Hey, Skylar. How are you?" Asher's voice was gentle, and it made her feel a little more at ease.

"I'm...I'm okay, I guess. Look, Asher, I need to know more about what you told me yesterday. About you being a lycan," she said, her voice becoming more confident.

"I understand. What do you want to know?" Asher asked.

"Well, for starters, what does it mean to be a lycan? And how is it different from being a werewolf?" Skylar asked, trying to sound casual.

Asher took a deep breath before answering. "Lycans are similar to werewolves, but there are a few key differences. As I gold you, we have more control over our transformations, for one. And we're also able to shift at will, not just during a full moon."

Skylar listened intently, fascinated by what she was hearing. She had always been drawn to lycan, but never thought she would actually meet someone like Asher.

"But what does it mean for us?" she asked, finally getting to the heart of the matter.

"It means that we shouldn't be together," Asher replied, his voice sad. "Our kind has been at war for centuries. Relationships between werewolves and lycans are forbidden."

Skylar felt a lump form in her throat as she realized the gravity of the situation. She had always known that their love was taboo, but now it seemed even more impossible.

"I don't care," she said, her voice firm. "I start developing feelings for you, Asher. And I'm not going to let some stupid feud between our kind keep us apart."

Asher was quiet for a moment before responding. "I love you , Skylar. But we need to be careful. If anyone found out about us, it could mean the end of both our lives."

Skylar knew that he was right, but she couldn't help feeling hopeful. Maybe, just maybe, they could find a way to be together.

Asher heard the doorbell rang. He paused for a moment, trying to decide whether to ignore or answer it.

" Can we meet to..."

"Hey, Sky, hold on a sec," Asher said, interrupting Skylar mid-sentence.

"What's up?" Skylar asked.

"I think someone is at the door. Let me see who it is," Asher replied, quickly putting the phone on speaker and heading to the front door.

When he opened the door, he saw the red-haired girl standing in front of him.

"Hello, Asher," she said, her voice cold.

"Is there something I can help you with Ginger?" Asher asked, trying to keep his tone polite.

"It's been a while since we've seen each other and you haven't found anything better than to receive me in front of your door? A little courtesy" she exclaimed.

"Let me enter." She added as she entered, jostling Asher's shoulder who deliberately obstructed the passage.

Asher followed her , she turned back and asked in a threatening tone :" Are you hiding anything from me? "

" What could I possibly be hiding from you? You know everything about me! " He answered in a relaxed way.

" I highly doubt it Ash! If you hide something from me or do something that goes against our clan, I will...." He didn't let her finish her sentence, throwing her on the wall behind her. then he hited and broke the wall five centimeters from her face.

.

"Whoa, what the hell was that for?" she exclaimed, rubbing her back where it had hit the wall.

His body began to tense up and his features changed. His eyes grew sharper, his teeth elongated, and his muscles bulged as he semi-transformed into a lycan. The sight was terrifying and she couldn't help but feel petrified.

Asher's eyes were filled with rage as he stared down at her. "You think I would ever do anything to betray our clan? How dare you even suggest that!" he growled.

When he saw the look of fear on her face, he quickly regained control of himself and stepped back. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice laced with remorse. "I didn't mean to scare you like that."

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "It's okay," she said shakily. "I know you would never do anything to betray us."

Asher let out a deep sigh of relief. "Thank you for understanding," he said, his eyes softening. "I just get so angry when people question my loyalty to our clan."

"I understand," she said, nodding. "But please, don't throw me against any more walls, okay?"

He chuckled, the tension in the room dissipating. "I promise I won't," he said. "Now, what were you saying before I...interrupted you?"

" No nothing, I didn't mean anything, I just came to say hello." She lied so as not to annoy him any more.

At the same time she heard the sound of a phone in the other room and assumed Asher would answer it.

 "Hello! Hello!"

Asher went into the bedroom and hung up.

He came back to the living room and said in a casual tone:

"Oh, that was just a pizza delivery girl who called because she was lost," Asher said, grinning. "She needed directions to the right address."

Ginger didn't believe him for a second. She simply added nothing and went to watching TV.

As the night wore on, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. she decided to do a little investigating about the phone call.

When Asher went to bed early that night, Ginger snuck into the living room and grabbed his phone. She scrolled through his call log and found the number that had called earlier.

She saved the number in her phone, left the room and called the number back on her phone.

"Hello!" Said the voice on the other end of the phone.

"Who is it please ?" " Hello ? Hello?" The voice asked.

Ginger hung up.

It was 10 p.m. when Skylar finished her part-time job at the restaurant. As usual, she decided to head back down the park road.

As Skylar crossed the track she usually took, she heard noises coming from behind the bushes. Assuming it was Asher playing a joke on her, she called his name.

" Asher! Asher ! Get out of there it's not funny, I know it's you! "

But received no response from him .

As a cold, dry wind swept through the area, she grew increasingly afraid, feeling goosebumps rise on her skin and sensing a presence around her. Suddenly, she heard growls which only heightened her fear, causing her to quicken her pace into a run.

As she ran, an unusual-looking wolf suddenly appeared in front of her and growled menacingly.
