Did she just scream at the one who has her life on the tip of his palm? People tell her that she was being too stubborn for a girl and it would lead her to a lot of trouble. Guess what they all said was coming true. She was in a bigger trouble. She expected to hear a big bang and then wake up in heaven or hell but felt nothing.

Slowly, she opened her eyes and caught his gaze on her with the gun away from her father's head. He didn't kill him?

The man looked at her from head to toe for the first time and drew his brows together. He was only focused on his traitor and never bothered about the daughter as he planned to kill them both anyway but she got his attention.

A girl so daring that she dared yell at him and call him an asshole when she was at the point of being gunned down?

He curled up the corner of his lips in amusement and faced her completely. "Guess you want to trade sides with him since you are so daring."

"Please don't. Please don't touch her!" It was Edward's turn to panic as the intimidating man walked to his daughter and pointed the gun at her forehead. "Please I will bring your money. Let go of my daughter!" Edward's plead fell on deaf ears.

Loretta tried so hard to remain calm even though deep within her was an ocean of unsettled water, wanting to burst out of her.

"We will bring your money to you. Just let us go and get it. We can't do anything while being tied down here." She boldly offered even though her eyes were filled with the fear she was trying so much to hide.

He laughed and she felt her stomach tightened. At that moment, his laughter wasn't pleasant. She wasn't admiring him anymore as all she saw was a man who would kill her without any remorse if she made a mistake.

He had a gun to her forehead. Not the pleasant way she wished to die.

"Do you think you can pay four million dollars?"

Her eyes widened as she shot her gaze to her father who lowered his head. Four million dollars? She never saw him with that huge amount nor did he do anything meaningful with it.

What was she thinking? That her father would be redeemed soon enough and would go back to his former self?

She was pushed out of her thoughts when the gunshot echoed in her ear. She heard a scream and her mouth pooped open as her eyes were filled with terror.

"Father!" She screamed out.

The man shut him without any feeling of sympathy. Edward placed his hand on his bleeding leg, crying out loud.

"He won't die until twenty minutes."

"You monster!" She tried to pull out of her chains and reach out to him but to no avail. She only caused more wounds to her wrist.

"Any time you waste, blame it on yourself. You either calm down and let's talk or you watch him die while trying to get out of your binds and attack me."

Loretta bit her lower lips knowing she didn't have a choice. She couldn't watch her father die no matter what he did.

The man drew a chair and sat down before her. "So, what can you offer in exchange for my money?"

She sniffed and lowered her head, not daring to look at the face she had come to hate in a minute.

"We can both be quiet right now and watch your precious daddy die or you talk."

"I don't know," she answered and finally raised her eyes to meet his gaze. "You can decide and tell me what you want. As long as you treat my father and he doesn't die, I will do whatever you wish."

A smirk played on his lips, amazed by her boldness again. Not everyone would talk back to someone who was holding a gun and ready to pull the trigger.

He was rather amazed by her boldness then furious. Who was she? She was different from anyone he had seen before. They all shudder at the sight of him and go on their knees when they speak to him, but not her.

He suddenly wants her. He suddenly wanted her for himself. He is Fabian Antonio, and he gets whatever he wants.

"Can you offer what I request? I can be very demanding." A smirk played on his lips, forcing her to swallow hard even though it was deemed hard for anything to pass through her throat.

"As long as you let go of my father, I will do whatever you want. Please just let him go."

He pressed forward and rubbed the gun on his neck before he pointed it at her. "Are you sure? There is no backing out once this is agreed on. If you try to run or hide from me, that would be the last day on earth for you. I am never a forgiving person and someone without a heart, so it wouldn't cost me anything to see your blood." He threatened and she was shaken by it.

She shivered and held her breath. No matter what, she would be dead anyway.

He took his gaze to her lips and slowly licked the seam of her lips as he went on to make his offer, "I will let go of you and your father and forget that he ever cheated me and ran away with my money. You just have to pay me back by being my pet for six months and after that, you will be free from me."

Her eyes popped open.

Be his pet for six months? That wasn't what she thought it would be. The man before her is anything but good.

Without knowing who he was, she could tell by just the way he carried himself and the way he was staring at her. It seemed he was ready to rip out her heart and feed it to her in an instant without batting an eyebrow.

He was someone who definitely had his hand stained and didn't have any hope of redemption again. Someone who might be wanted by the cops and she needed no sorcerer to tell her that.

He let go of her and stood up, walking with slow strides to her father. With every step he took, her heart jumped as it warned of the danger her father was in.

"I will not be your pet. Aren't there any other options?" She questioned with her voice filled with anger, for him thinking he could make her his pet, and worry, about what he might do to her or her father if she didn't accept.

He pointed a gun to his head and looked at her again, this time, the smirk he had plastered on his face wasn't there anymore. His face was void of any emotion and she couldn't tell what he was thinking.

Does he feel amazed that he was about to get a plaything or not, she just couldn't tell. He pointed the gun again at her father's forehead and placed his hand on the trigger.

"I don't bargain. You either agree or you bring out my money right now or I pull the trigger in his skull and you watch him die."

Chapter 163Weeks filled with anxiety and unsolved conundrums, deception, and intrigues had passed. The search for Loretta however had shifted into overdrive for Fabian in a dangerously obsessive manner. Each piece of information brought him closer to a revelation but still, every single one of them failed to prepare him for what would come.On a chilly autumn day, Fabian received a telephone call from an unknown caller. His heart raced as he picked up the call, fully aware that this could be the call he had been anxiously waiting for.“Fabian”, the voice on the other end sounded slightly familiar. It was the detective that he had hired to help him after Edward went missing. “We have a situation. We have located Loretta.”Fabian felt his heart race when a small house at the edge of the city came through after the address had been given. Without thinking, he took his keys and dashed to the door. The trip was a haze, all of it filled with thoughts of Loretta. What did they do to her? Wh

As he rode, memories came flooding his mind and brought him back to that time when all he was was Maria's assistant lingering in the shadows of her ambitions. He could remember how he would sit for hours on end and watch her enchant and flirt with Fabian; hear her laughter echo down the halls of their office. He had seen the moment of fate when Maria was wrapped in Fabian's arms, her eyes sparkling with delight, accepting him as her boyfriend. In that instant, Lucas felt jealousy mixed with frustration; how could she not see what Fabian was? He knew there was something wrong with the man she idolized depth of darkness behind the polished surface.Maria, you need to be careful," Lucas had warned her, his voice edged with concern as he faced her the next day. "I've seen the way he operates. He's not who he seems."But she had brushed him off, dismissing his worries with a wave of her hand. "You're just jealous because you're not in the spotlight, Lucas. Fabian is a powerful man. You can

As he walked down the streets of the city, he felt a surge of invincibility take over his body. He felt that no one could touch him after all, he had eliminated one of his major threats. Edward's absence would leave a huge hole, and Lucas intended to fill this vacuum with his ambition. He reached a secluded area, parked his car, and sat for a minute or so to collect his thoughts. He had to think now. Edward was out of the way; next came keeping Loretta in his grasp. She was the only way he could use both Fabian and Tasha to his advantage, and he wasn't going to let her get away from him.He whipped out his cell phone and sent a text to Maria. "Let's meet. We need to discuss the next move." In a second, he received a response: "Where?""The warehouse. I'll be there in 20."Lucas wheeled the car around and headed in the direction of the warehouse, his mind racing with possibilities. Loretta, he thought, considering how they might use her in their scheme. To be sure, she was a chip to be

At the accusation, Edward's face darkened as his mind raced to concoct this verbal assault by Lucas. "And what exactly do you think I did? I was trying to protect my family, just like you should be."Lucas tightened his fists in growing frustration. "Protecting your family? By disappearing? If you knew something about Loretta's whereabouts, you should have come forward. You have no idea what I've gone through trying to find her!Believe me, I know precisely what it's like to be helpless," Edward replied in a low-intense voice. "But you don't know the whole story. I couldn't come forward. Not yet."Lucas stepped closer, his eyes locked on Edward's. "Then tell me the story. What's going on? Where's Loretta?Edward cast a look backward toward the house as if to weigh in his mind just how much he wanted to involve Lucas with the fact. Finally, he let out a heavy sigh and spoke. "I was taken captive, but I was able to escape. Those who abducted Loretta are still on the loose, keeping my ev

Maria's eyes flashed at him as her gaze narrowed. "I'm not obsessed. I just know how things work in this world. Tasha doesn't stand a chance against someone like me. I know his weaknesses. I know what he needs.""Is that why you're trying to bring her down? Because you think you can step in and show him what a real partner looks like?" Lucas asked, intrigued.Maria shrugged, and much of her confidence returned. "Exactly, I'm just helping him see the light. Tasha is just a pretty face, a distraction. I'll make sure he realizes that."Lucas watched her, impressed yet cautious. "You know this could backfire, right? If you push too hard, you might end up pushing him away for good."Not a chance," Maria shot back. "I know how to play my cards right. While Tasha's busy playing the perfect wife, I'll be working behind the scenes, turning his head. I will make Fabian remember who he is truly meant to be with."Lucas shook his head, feeling a mix of admiration and trepidation in his chest. "Ju

Maria crossed her arms, leaning in closer, a smug look on her face. "I'm just making an observation. It's just amazing to see how fast somebody can change their tune once they snag a rich husband. Isn't it, Lucas?"Lucas gave Tasha a worried look as if to say he didn't want to be part of this. Tasha drew in a deep breath, attempting to keep calm. "You don't know anything about me, Maria. This isn't about Fabian or the money. It's about being loyal to the people I care about. Something you wouldn't understand."Maria stepped back, her eyes narrowing. "Oh, please, spare me the moral high ground. You're not some saint just because you put a ring on it. Do you think marrying him makes you untouchable? I wouldn't be so sure.""Enough!" Tasha snapped, firm in her tone. "You need to stop with the petty jealousy and move on. Your constant need to undermine me is getting old.Jealousy? That's what you think this is?" Maria laughed again, her tone hard, unyielding. "I am just looking after the
