They were in an estate. An estate filled with big houses which had cost a fortune to build.
Loretta couldn't help but admire the environment and she forgot one major information, which was finding a way to get out.
It wasn't until they got to a door that she realized she had never taken notice of the environment to find the road of escape.
The older woman dragged her into the main building and they were welcomed by the quick stench of drugs, filling her nostrils. It was a big building with three floors. The ground floor only had a few couches but was filled with people moving about.
As she walked past them, they all had their eyes on her.
"She is for the boss so eyes off," the older woman warned and they immediately looked away, taking back their attention to their businesses while Loretta was led to the second floor. "Welcome abode." The older woman, Wilma, said and opened a door.
...
The rest of the day was spent with Loretta learning more about the house as she was instructed and given the rules guiding the house for slaves like her.
She wasn't the only slave in the house neither was she the first of Fabian. What was she expecting? To be the first woman of the tyrant boss? That would never be possible.
After the lessons of etiquette, she was taken back to Fabian's mansion and locked up in a room. She quickly took a shower and wore back her clothes, having nothing else to wear.
The day was over and she only got a little information about the drug house. It would be hard to escape but she had to try one way or the other.
With a heavy sigh, she fell on the bed, allowing her hair to spread and get roughened. How was her father doing? She had a lot of questions running through her mind but no one to answer those questions.
Fabian was out of town, according to Wilma, and would be back late in the night. Silently, she prayed he wouldn't come back again. Probably, get caught or defeated by the rival drug house, and then, she would get her freedom and leave the house without trying to rack her brain to create an escape plan.
She shut her eyes and slowly gave in to the tiredness overwhelming her. It's been a long day. In no time, her mouth fell open and little snores escaped her lips.
Fabian walked into his room and quickly pulled off his clothes. The business transaction with a client almost went rough but thank goodness they were alert and had fought back immediately, ending the business in a blood bath.
He dropped his gun in his closet and went into the shower. All his life has been filled with danger. He was made the Mafia boss when he was just fifteen and has been ruling for over ten years.
All through his rule, he was known to be cruel. A boss with no mercy, who wouldn't batt an eyebrow to see someone knocked dead by his bullet.
He has been involved in a world of crime and has since followed in his father's footsteps. His father was the ex-drug lord who founded the Eagle Eyes drug house.
Although, during his reign, the house wasn't as successful as it was during Fabian's reign. Fabian grew it into the largest and most successful drug house, having a clean record with the government and not suspected by the citizens and that was because he controls the government too.
He controls the affairs and has since kept a clean record even though it was far from that. He wasn't clean. His hands were stained with blood. The blood of so many people who crossed his path.
Letting out a deep sigh, he rolled his neck and walked out of the bathroom, going to wear his casual clothes and then visit his new woman, Loretta.
He smirked took out his laptop and walked back to the bed.
He opened it up and clicked on the file before he scrolled down to a file he saved as LC 'Loretta Cruz.'
He tapped on it and her pictures appeared on his screen. His lips curled up and he slowly moved his fingers across his screen.
"You are mine now, Loretta. I always get what I want." He muttered and clicked on a video. A video of Loretta walking down the street, looking so tired that it seemed she would collapse.
Loretta has been his target for a week. Initially, he had wanted to capture Edward and end his life but when he got the information about him, he found out he had a daughter. That would be a plus bonus to him cause he would end Edward's life and take his daughter into his house.
But, seeing her picture for the first time, he got drawn into her. There was something about her that made him stay up all night, staring at her face.
Obsession? There was no other way to call it that moment. He got obsessed with her.
He got her videos and would spend his free time watching her. Her resilience and hard work made him want her more. He imagined her being his woman and always by his side.
She acted tough when they first met and that made him even amazed. A girl acting so tough even in the face of danger. Even when the gun was pointed at her face.
He smirked at the thought of it and closed his laptop.
Loretta tossed in her sleep and groaned. It was so cold but she was so into her sleep that she didn't bother drawing the duvet to cover up herself. She instead, coiled up on the bed and rubbed the back of her neck, going to sleep immediately.
It wasn't up to a minute and she was forced to open her eyes. Goosebumps crawled up all over her as she felt someone in the room, watching her.
She could feel his presence. Her heart stopped beating for a moment and her breath seized, building up a pressure in her chest.
He was behind her, standing in the dark. Danger was behind her, waiting for that perfect moment to strike her.
She covered her lips to prevent a whimper from escaping as she tried to breathe in the stuffy room. The room was cold but it was suffocating for her.
"Hello Loretta, it's time to play!"
Chapter 163Weeks filled with anxiety and unsolved conundrums, deception, and intrigues had passed. The search for Loretta however had shifted into overdrive for Fabian in a dangerously obsessive manner. Each piece of information brought him closer to a revelation but still, every single one of them failed to prepare him for what would come.On a chilly autumn day, Fabian received a telephone call from an unknown caller. His heart raced as he picked up the call, fully aware that this could be the call he had been anxiously waiting for.“Fabian”, the voice on the other end sounded slightly familiar. It was the detective that he had hired to help him after Edward went missing. “We have a situation. We have located Loretta.”Fabian felt his heart race when a small house at the edge of the city came through after the address had been given. Without thinking, he took his keys and dashed to the door. The trip was a haze, all of it filled with thoughts of Loretta. What did they do to her? Wh
As he rode, memories came flooding his mind and brought him back to that time when all he was was Maria's assistant lingering in the shadows of her ambitions. He could remember how he would sit for hours on end and watch her enchant and flirt with Fabian; hear her laughter echo down the halls of their office. He had seen the moment of fate when Maria was wrapped in Fabian's arms, her eyes sparkling with delight, accepting him as her boyfriend. In that instant, Lucas felt jealousy mixed with frustration; how could she not see what Fabian was? He knew there was something wrong with the man she idolized depth of darkness behind the polished surface.Maria, you need to be careful," Lucas had warned her, his voice edged with concern as he faced her the next day. "I've seen the way he operates. He's not who he seems."But she had brushed him off, dismissing his worries with a wave of her hand. "You're just jealous because you're not in the spotlight, Lucas. Fabian is a powerful man. You can
As he walked down the streets of the city, he felt a surge of invincibility take over his body. He felt that no one could touch him after all, he had eliminated one of his major threats. Edward's absence would leave a huge hole, and Lucas intended to fill this vacuum with his ambition. He reached a secluded area, parked his car, and sat for a minute or so to collect his thoughts. He had to think now. Edward was out of the way; next came keeping Loretta in his grasp. She was the only way he could use both Fabian and Tasha to his advantage, and he wasn't going to let her get away from him.He whipped out his cell phone and sent a text to Maria. "Let's meet. We need to discuss the next move." In a second, he received a response: "Where?""The warehouse. I'll be there in 20."Lucas wheeled the car around and headed in the direction of the warehouse, his mind racing with possibilities. Loretta, he thought, considering how they might use her in their scheme. To be sure, she was a chip to be
At the accusation, Edward's face darkened as his mind raced to concoct this verbal assault by Lucas. "And what exactly do you think I did? I was trying to protect my family, just like you should be."Lucas tightened his fists in growing frustration. "Protecting your family? By disappearing? If you knew something about Loretta's whereabouts, you should have come forward. You have no idea what I've gone through trying to find her!Believe me, I know precisely what it's like to be helpless," Edward replied in a low-intense voice. "But you don't know the whole story. I couldn't come forward. Not yet."Lucas stepped closer, his eyes locked on Edward's. "Then tell me the story. What's going on? Where's Loretta?Edward cast a look backward toward the house as if to weigh in his mind just how much he wanted to involve Lucas with the fact. Finally, he let out a heavy sigh and spoke. "I was taken captive, but I was able to escape. Those who abducted Loretta are still on the loose, keeping my ev
Maria's eyes flashed at him as her gaze narrowed. "I'm not obsessed. I just know how things work in this world. Tasha doesn't stand a chance against someone like me. I know his weaknesses. I know what he needs.""Is that why you're trying to bring her down? Because you think you can step in and show him what a real partner looks like?" Lucas asked, intrigued.Maria shrugged, and much of her confidence returned. "Exactly, I'm just helping him see the light. Tasha is just a pretty face, a distraction. I'll make sure he realizes that."Lucas watched her, impressed yet cautious. "You know this could backfire, right? If you push too hard, you might end up pushing him away for good."Not a chance," Maria shot back. "I know how to play my cards right. While Tasha's busy playing the perfect wife, I'll be working behind the scenes, turning his head. I will make Fabian remember who he is truly meant to be with."Lucas shook his head, feeling a mix of admiration and trepidation in his chest. "Ju
Maria crossed her arms, leaning in closer, a smug look on her face. "I'm just making an observation. It's just amazing to see how fast somebody can change their tune once they snag a rich husband. Isn't it, Lucas?"Lucas gave Tasha a worried look as if to say he didn't want to be part of this. Tasha drew in a deep breath, attempting to keep calm. "You don't know anything about me, Maria. This isn't about Fabian or the money. It's about being loyal to the people I care about. Something you wouldn't understand."Maria stepped back, her eyes narrowing. "Oh, please, spare me the moral high ground. You're not some saint just because you put a ring on it. Do you think marrying him makes you untouchable? I wouldn't be so sure.""Enough!" Tasha snapped, firm in her tone. "You need to stop with the petty jealousy and move on. Your constant need to undermine me is getting old.Jealousy? That's what you think this is?" Maria laughed again, her tone hard, unyielding. "I am just looking after the
