Synopsis

Tragic Love

Bias

Regret

My parents died when I was ten, and I became an orphan. Darius Rossi, a mafia don, found me and took me out of the beggars' den. He wrapped me in designer clothes and raised me like a prized possession. Everyone said I would grow up to be his wife, that I was the treasure he kept close to his heart. Then came my birthday party. After a night of wild passion, he handed me a photo of his rival, Valerio Warren. He said, "Monica Arden, I've taken care of you for ten years. Now it's time for you to repay me. I'm arranging a marriage alliance with the Costa family. This is the guy Gina Costa has been crushing on, and I need you to seduce him and create an opening for me. I want her to marry me willingly." That was when I finally understood that I was never his treasure. I was just the most disposable piece on his chessboard. I followed his orders and pursued Valerio, doing exactly as he commanded. Yet, on the wedding day, Darius lost his mind when Valerio slipped the diamond ring onto my finger.

Chapter 1
When Darius Rossi pushed the photo toward me, I froze. He held me in his arms and kissed my cheek, his voice still hoarse from our earlier passion. He said, "I'll arrange for you to meet him in the next couple of days. With your looks and charm, he'll easily fall for you. Gina Costa cares about her image, so once she sees you two together, she'll come running back to me."Gina was the marriage partner Darius needed, the daughter of another mafia family in Paulirmo, and the woman he truly loved. They grew up together, and he harbored feelings for her. However, Gina never gave Darius a second glance, seeing him only as a childhood playmate. No matter how much he did for her, she only had eyes for Valerio Warren, the most powerful man in Sirioli.Maybe it was because of her indifference that Darius spoiled me twice as much. He thought that if he acted deeply in love with me and ignored her long enough, she would finally see his worth and accept him. That was the moment he started to

Chapter 2
The next afternoon, Darius handed me a ticket to an art exhibition. He said, "It's a private collection showing. Take a little break."I was about to take it when a sharp voice suddenly cut in."Where did you get that ticket?"Gina appeared in the doorway out of nowhere. She walked straight over and snatched the ticket from his hand. "These tickets were impossible to get. I've been looking everywhere for one."She did not even glance at me. Instead, she just smiled at Darius. "Valerio's been trying to find one too. If I give it to him, he'll definitely be grateful."I saw Darius's expression darken for a split second before he masked it with a smile. "You've been pursuing him this long and still haven't caught his attention? Guess he really isn't into you."Gina furiously stomped her high heel onto Darius's foot.My eyes widened, and I instinctively started forward to check if he was hurt. However, he just laughed, hopping on one leg a couple of times."Alright, my bad for sayi

While I was lost in thought, a voice suddenly came from beside me."Monica, get in the car."I looked up, surprised to see Darius. For some reason, though, I no longer felt happy seeing his face. When I got into the car, his gaze immediately landed on the book in my hands. His voice was cold as he asked, "Did Valerio give you that?"I nodded.Darius’s face darkened instantly. He reached over, snatched the book from me, and tossed it into the back seat."Why do you even want that useless thing?" His eyes burned with an anger I had never seen before. "I’ll have someone return it to him. You only accept gifts from me, understand?"I stared at him, confused. He told me to seduce Valerio, so why was he angry all of a sudden?Darius noticed my expression and thought I was upset. He took my hand, and his voice softened as he spoke coaxingly."You're mine. If anyone's giving you gifts, it should be me. Monica, I need you to understand that."I pulled my hand out of his grasp and murm

Valerio was even more approachable than I expected. I barely had to put in any effort to get close to him. He never had his guard up around me, and no matter how busy he was, he always made time to see me.On the day of the art exhibition, a few days later, I wore a black cocktail dress and waited for Valerio at the gallery entrance. Before long, a black car pulled up in front of me.Valerio stepped out and naturally wrapped his arm around my waist. The moment we walked into the gallery, I spotted Darius and Gina. Gina wore a red evening gown, her arm linked through Darius'. Her eyes instantly lit up when she spotted Valerio, but when she noticed me standing beside him, her smile vanished.Darius' gaze landed on Valerio's hand around my waist, and a flash of displeasure crossed his eyes before he quickly masked it. He simply said, "Valerio, it's been a while."Valerio did not shake his hand, just gave a slight nod. "Mr. Rossi."His tone was distant, making it clear he did not thi

Valerio was still gripping my wrist when he barked orders at his assistant.I stared at his profile, my breath quickening without reason."No," I whispered, trying to pull my hand free. Before I could say anything else, Valerio turned and kissed me again, sending tingles through my body."The media's watching." His deep brown eyes held a wounded look, his voice dropping low. "If you don't marry me, they'll say the Warren family is bullying the Rossi family. Would you really let them say Don Warren assaulted a defenseless woman?"I knew he was bluffing. After all, the king of Sirioli's underworld never cared about what anyone said. However, as I looked into those pleading eyes, I could not bring myself to argue. I simply mumbled, "I'll marry you."The moment those words left my mouth, even I was stunned. Somewhere deep inside, a quiet, desperate voice wanted to break free from the cage Darius had built around me.After the exhibition ended, Valerio took me straight to register o

Even when Gina's hand was about to touch my face, I did not move away. Instead, I grabbed her wrist, gripping it so hard that she screamed."Darius!" Gina turned her head around and shouted, "Look at her! She's actually fighting back!"Darius stood up with a frown, looking at me with a complicated expression. "Monica, let go of her."I stared at him and, somehow, found it laughable. He never stopped Gina when she demeaned me, but when I fought back, he wanted me to back down."No." My voice was quiet, yet it carried an unprecedented firmness. "She tried to hit me. Why should I let her?"His expression darkened instantly, his brow furrowing deeper. After all, this was not the obedient girl he remembered. He growled, "Monica!""Darius, she needs to apologize!" I insisted as I looked him straight in the eye. "Gina stole from me, insulted me, and is trying to hit me. You can't keep pretending you don't see it."Gina shrieked, "In your dreams! Like I'd apologize to a rat like you? I

I walked up to the car and saw Valerio standing by the door. I sheepishly muttered, "Sorry to have kept you waiting."He merely took my suitcase and put it in the trunk. Once I got in the car, I noticed his expression was dark, his jawline tense."Are you mad?" I asked tentatively. He suddenly turned, grabbed the back of my head, and kissed me.The kiss was fierce, almost punishing, leaving me breathless. I pushed against him, but he only held me tighter. It was not until I hit him hard that he finally let go, pressing his forehead against mine. His voice was rough as he asked, "Why is it that Darius can touch you, but I have to wait for your permission? Why do you always forgive him? He treated you so badly, yet you still stayed with him for ten years."It hit me that he was actually jealous. Seeing his eyes rimmed red, I felt a warmth spread through me. I reached up and gently touched his cheek.I said, "I stayed because I wanted to repay him for saving my life, but he’s only

Valerio hissed, "If you come after Monica again, I'll make every mafia family in Sirioli your enemy. And by the way, thanks for your help."With that, he started the car, drove around Darius' vehicle, and drove forward.I saw Darius in the rearview mirror, standing there like an abandoned child.Valerio held my hand and said gently, "He won't bother you anymore."I nodded and leaned back in my seat, feeling empty inside but…also relieved. At last, I bid my past farewell....Valerio seemed to have an endless hunger for me, making love to me over and over again. Eventually, I could not take it anymore and had to make him stop.A few days later, he told me he wanted me to meet his mother. Her villa was on the outskirts of Meiran, surrounded by a yard full of lemon trees from Sirioli. As soon as we pushed open the door, I heard cheerful laughter. Then, a woman in a cream-colored dress hurried over and grabbed my hand. She smiled warmly as she said, "You must be Monica! I'm Valeri

The next morning, Valerio took me to the largest bridal boutique in Meiran. The staff had just brought out a few wedding dresses when a sharp voice cut through the air. "Well, well, look who's here. With your background, do you really think you're worthy of wearing such expensive gowns?"Gina stood in the doorway wearing a red dress, several bodyguards behind her.She walked up to me, her disdain for me obvious through her gaze. "Valerio, how could you marry a woman like her? Aren't you afraid of embarrassing yourself as Don Warren?"Valerio pulled me behind him, his eyes cold as ice. "Who I marry is none of your concern."Gina was about to continue when Darius walked in from outside and grabbed her arm. "Stop making a scene. Let's go.""I'm not leaving!" Gina shook off his hand. "Darius, look at her! She stole Valerio, and she's even having a grand wedding! I won't let her get away with it!"As she spoke, she reached out to tear my wedding dress.Darius reacted quickly, grabb
